Very good write-up @Duke_of_Lauenburg. Though I do not play CV myself much, I like to keep up to date on any changes and of course AA is and important part of utility for any Cruiser, sad it seems to be rendered rather useless for now but maybe that'll change yet.

Yeah, ridiculous behavior nevertheless tho. I have had a few (luckily not many) occasions of detonating from a single hit or of a Yamato or Monty blowing me out of the water from 25km away, which I did not feel too good about but my bad in the first place for driving straight so long. So I've resolved just to swallow the bitter oill and compliment the fellow instead. Because well, bloody good shooting anyway and hope to have that guy in our team the next time eh?

Hehe, been there done that. Torp'd a Shima with a Mogami from 4km away once, because he did not spot me... Oh well, in fairness I was hiding behind an island at the time slowly moving forward so I could not be seen (there was an angry Yammy there too so) and the torps ARE rather conveniently located in Mogami's pretty butt* but annyhow. Obviously hacking there.... No reason to take it seriously though. Mayhap it is a sign of success (at the least that is my excuse)?

Idiocy sounds like the most likely reason TBH. Saw a Benson once, who did the same except he did that just before actually hitting the cap circle and just sat there, barely outside of the cap circle radius in his smoke, blindly shooting torps at targets he didn't see (the enemy DD didn't bother popping smoke) or have a chance at hitting and spamming HE at Cruisers which were out of his gun range (or then he just couldn't hit sh*t). The fun ended, when that mean-spirited and totally underhanded enemy DD saturated his precious smoke with some torps thus putting an abrupt end to our hero's otherwise Brilliant and Promising naval career (I hope at least - or maybe he got better, who knows?). And, well, if you're gonna hide in smoke I guess it wouldn't be so bad, if you even bothered to turn a bit so you'd point either the nose or the stern at the enemy's direction (and the 100% certainly incoming torps), so the likelihood of them hitting you would be somewhat reduced as well as the damage they will cause, but nope. Broadside on and some more popcorn is the norm.

Hehe! Yeah, strange enough, some BB players still have not noticed that they actually can't shoot from smoke undetected. I wonder how long it'll take before that realization hits home (based on recent experience my money's going to betting on "Never" but we'll see).

A good point. Somehow even my TRB Kagero with 8km torps does better than many of my Smoke DD's, probably for the very same reason. I also die a lot less due to taking less chances and surviving more. Funny that actually.

Indeed, it can... I, much to my own amazement, torp'd an eye-popping 3 DD's (all the enemy team had) just sitting in the SAME smoke in B cap during one match on "Land of Fire Map" last Friday with 1 torp salvo from a Mogami (well, technically it could count, as 2 salvos since I turned and fired both sides but annyhoot). Then I basically just lounged around and took a pleasure Cruise for the rest of the game, having already done my bit (well, not really but anyways). It is quite amazing how often the good ole' "Just shove a torp up their smokin' *edit"- ploy still works over and over again. Does give a nice boost to my Mogami stats tho, hehehe!

We tried a 1 Mikasa + 2 Tier 1 gunboats-as-escorts-division last weekend... Our team lost, but it was fun, especially, since we Tier 1's managed to sink all 3 of the enemy DD's (who seemed to be strangely attracted to Mikasa and just flocked to us even without asking) while escorting our "Precious" (who also scored 2 more before being surrounded by 3 Juriens who then burned, pounded and pummeled him to oblivion after having blasted us pip-squeaks to smithereens)... Some other players were admittedly less than impressed, even having the temerity to call us a "Fail Division", so much to our chagrin we finally had to give in to such unreasonable pier pressure (pun intended) and took all tier 2's for the next match. Was not half as much fun tho. Truly epic Custer simulation on "the High Seas" - Totally worth it!..

Sounds terrible but I dunnoh about all that lad, just torp'd one with my Atago on Sunday. It seemed to go down just fine, also burned pretty well just before that. I've no complaints there. Mayhap improve your tactics a bit to deal with it? OR just get yourself a Yamatou or Musashiou and go see how they pen that pesky bow. I've also heard rumors that Cong can get 457, guns too while Germans can mount the 420mm, they might do the trick surely?.

To answer your question: "How fun are 7-8 minute matches?" directly @Benedictus_de_Suede - Weeel, they are just about as much fun as having a tooth extracted without anesthetic, except more painful. Of course, if you happen to be on the winning side of it the pain is slightly alleviated by increase in your WR, but the disappointing end score still remains a let-down. Either way, it's gonna suck...

Yeeah... Interestingly though, many of those wise men also often tend to be people, who never play DD themselves. Go figure...

It's probably a good deal for any dedicated Noob Wallet Warrior. BUT quite unfortunately I don't have neither a generous nor stupid Suga-Daddy's wallet to rely on and therefore would hafta pay for it myself so HECK NO!!!

Oh yeah, that is already an option, he's only been playing for a couple of days so no need to reroll even so no worries. Juust looking for the "right" BB at the moment, of course, there's always the Ischizuchi, if we get really desperate but that would mean to cancel out Tachibana (no point having 2 IJN prems right at the beginning, looking for trainers for the main ship lines here) and get another DD to replace it, Campbelltown perhaps? Plan is to get 3 Premiums, 1DD, 1CA/CL and a BB tiers 2-3 for starters and build it up from there. No hurry as such, but perhaps tomorrow would be a good time to shop you, know. Hehehe!

I told him to grind Coop with his tier 1's until he gets his account level to 7 and actually begins hitting someone with his guns and also gets some Commanders for his ships, then we'll start in division and tier 1 and 2 Randoms hopefully tomorrow. Planning to buy him a Tachibana and Aurora for tier 2 prems and a BB later on (not Mikasa either so as not to depress too much right away, hehe). Unfortunately no suitably OP tier 3 Prem. BB's on sale for now. Curses! Oh well we'll see how that goes anyway. All the best of luck to your Vanguard then, sounds like you might need some.
