UHOH... Got the world's most famous last words just right on the first try eh? Oh well, if that's true then maybe it IS indeed about time to take a break from WoWs until the next patch. Luckily the newest edition of Total War will be coming out soon.

[new AA mechanics] about the non-overlapping auras
RAHJAILARI replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Oh yeah, brother @__Helmut_Kohl__ there are many issues with the new AA system to be discussed. TBH, so far and based on what I have read about it - I must admit do not like the new AA system at all. It only contrives to make a simple system that somewhat works doubly complicated for no apparent benefit whatsoever. I usually play DD and Cruiser and there is barely enough time amidst all the firing and maneuvering to prioritize incoming planes on time for the AA to have any effect at all, not to mention now having to keep on switching AA focus from one side to the other every second. Also the new system seems to ensure that in order to maximize AA effectiveness you now have to keep turning in order to show your best broadside target squarely pointing towards those approaching torpedo planes instead of trying to point your bow at them and having a chance at evasive action? This is, of course rather Brilliant! Also, I seem to remember someone mentioning that the planes wioll be much faster from now on, so this leaves even less time for the AA to be targeted at them than before? In short, I simply keep failing to see how all this is an improvement? -
Yeeah, kinda have to agree with all that and anyway even IF fighters will be re-introduced at some point, it will probably just be some sort of simplified point-and-click system (not able to spot). Strafing will never come back, I'm sure and I'm fine with that too.

Weel, though I do not play CV's much, I for one am kinda sad losing Hiryu. I only bothered grinding up the IJN CV line to get her so I could rid myself of Ruyjo and have something that looks more like an actual Carrier. No offence intended, Ruyjo is a good ship too, but she lack the looks - Hiryu is just sooo much sexier, eh?

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.
RAHJAILARI replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that Gaede there is completely out of position. The objective of this game mode is clearly to win by avoiding those friggin' weird circle-thingys in the middle right??? -
Weel, it's nice to have them of course, but I am not overly enthused TBH, since most will be paper ships so my interest would only be limited to tier IV or V (I have Octiabiskaya already), but that's fair enough. I have no particular complaints about it either, well other than that sure I would have liked to see the Italian Cruisers first, oh well, maybe next time then...

All that is fine lad. They are just giving you the chance to take the initiative and do it instead. But TBH. Sometimes you get the passive teams, sometimes then again ones that are way TOO aggressive and push, when they should defend instead. I have lost a few games, because our side kept pushing into a torpedo wall and / or got picked off one-by-one due to over extending and true enough - I have been guilty of that myself also so cannot entirely fault the team there either. To an extent defensive gameplay is stronger, because it allows you to spot and pick off those Yolo-ing and pushing early on giving the defending team a numerical and firepower advantage, however it is a fine balancing act - Play defensively for too long, especially in Epicenter or Domination mode and you will lose for sure, in Standard mode playing defensive quite often works the best though. It kinda depends on the situation and on players being able to adapt their personal playstyle accordingly, sadly m,any are not able or willing to do this and will obstinately stick to doing the same thing regardless of situation or game mode. Therefore, since playing defensive yields certain advantage early on in the game, there will always be tendency to stick to it for too long, because it feels "safe" and is naturally less risky. After all, playing aggressively always also means accepting risk and while it occasionally yields spectacular results, it may equally well lead to early demise and 0-sum result (yupp, happens to me often enough for exactly the said reasons, hehehe). Many players, especially those who are relatively new or unskilled therefore logically will lack confidence in their own skills and often also sufficient situational awareness to be able to accurately judge when to change tactics. For all these players risk avoidance will in fact always remain be the predominant tactic. I cannot say it is wrong either, have seen enough of Yolo-noobs getting one shotted in my time to understand that oftentimes discretion indeed would be the better part of valor. It does require some experience and keen "eye" for situations to correctlyy judge, when the time has come to make your move - And lots of patience to boot.

Blyskawica - WG says it can't buff it because of "stats".
RAHJAILARI replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
Owl righty then.I can agree with that. Just throwing random ideas into the air since I have no idea what exactly I was talking about (well, other than i know the current blysca to be slightly underwhelming) anyway, heheh! thanks for the explanation tho, I consider myself enlightened on this issue. -
Manipulation on world of warships gameplay
RAHJAILARI replied to kinarosamor's topic in General Discussion
Good points here. I remember a couple of games, where either we or the enemy team lost even when the CV scored Krakens because the rest of the team was utter rubbish and just melted away. There has also been a couple of games, when we had a 40% WR CV against a 60%+ guys, when i thought that the game is already lost but it turned out our CV guy, against all odds, played rather brilliantly and managed to secure a win for us. So yeah, luckily exceptions DO happen. Poor players can learn and shine or just have a bloody brilliant day and vice versa -> Even good players *edited* occasionally, hehehe! Unfortunately this may not happen nearly often enough to even the odds much (hence the CV rework we are having now, I guess). -

RAHJAILARI replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
Hmm, maybe then give Blysca 2 different alternative hull builds, kinda like Monaghan has (torp or gunboat). The earlier option with buffed 120mm guns and the other with 4inch guns & buffed AA. This would leave the chice up to players and make it more interesting. As to how viable each one would be, i leave that up for a general discussion, as I do have it myself anyway. Just thinking of possible ways to improve her a bit out of curiosity, that's all. -
Idea: I have never ever played CV - thinking of FreeXP them now to get "Snowflakes" Coal / Steel and then, with compensation, get all invested FreeXP/Credits back...

Well, if ya got sh*itloads of free XP to burn. Then GO FOR IT !! But alas, I am too poor... -

Not to worry... Warships Today can help with this: Seems reasonable to assume that OP's possibly recent (slight) losing streak probably explains this thread. -
Manipulation on world of warships gameplay
RAHJAILARI replied to kinarosamor's topic in General Discussion
This claim is BS, of course. Though it is quite easy to guess in many cases which side is going to win, by simply observing how the players move and position themselves on the map. If our team is incompetent, this will become evident in first 50 seconds, but that has nothing to do with the game itself, it is merely player ineptitude. -

RAHJAILARI replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
Yeeah brother @Aragathor, I do agree that Blysca indeed needs some love. So why not go with a sk. "historical-ish" approach to this? Since Blyscavica reached fame and honor for her heroic defense of the town of Cowes on the isle of Wight against a German bombing raid (an event, which saved the town and is annually celebrated there), this to me would seem to warrant some buff to her AA in form of an added "defensive AA Consumable". Also she was reputed to be one of the strongest DD's around at the time (in terms of gun power) so I do not see why we could not make her guns live up to that reputation too. One could almost begin to suspect that some sort of a pre-existing Russian bias against making a Polish ship actually strong to preclude this rather than her actually over-performing in the game... -
Poll: Will you keep playing the game after v.8.0 goes live?
RAHJAILARI replied to Jean_Bart's topic in General Discussion
AWWW!!! But that's still fair enough. Haven't played CV for the last 2 years, since I came to conclusion that i really cannot handle high tier CV play (or even mid-tier) and would just be a liability to the team. So whatever goes is fine. Pity about the Hiryu though, a MUCH prettier ship than Ruyjo. Incidentally this is also my only reason for keeping her as my CV pick and goes a long way to demonstrate what impeccably high standard(s) I uphold when choosing the ships I will keep. Oh well in any case, test first, complain later is a fine principle I've always proudly maintained. So in the meantime, while still eagerly awaiting to open my very own whining thread, lessee how it actually works.. -

RAHJAILARI replied to Jean_Bart's topic in General Discussion
No need to panic. I will obviously continue playing, as always. Why stop? Of course, I will probably take my Hiryu out for a spin - A few Coops to see how it works now and perhaps 1 or 2 Randoms to to "Test the Waters" so to speak. Also perhaps just fully AA spec some choice strong AA ships like Atlanta, Cleveland, DM, Hipper and try out how they will do in the new meta. Maybe give my Japanese ships a rest for the first weekend tho (due to inherently weak AA suite) - Later on I'll see how it all worked out and decide the rest. -
Blue-on-blue torpedo situations
RAHJAILARI replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
I have rather inadvertently "tested" this with a Mogami recently and can unhappily report that yupp, you still get pink'd if you torp friendlies from 10 km range (don't really wanna talk abboutiiit). So no worries mate - Well unless of course, I happen to be driving a bleedin' Mogami in your team - In which case you might be rightfully entitled to worry a bit... I do try to avoid it tho, honestly. -

Blue-on-blue torpedo situations
RAHJAILARI replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
Agreed, have been pinked myself quite a few times by now and even in the most mitigating of circumstances it has always been quite clear thet it was me who *edited* somewhere along the line to cause that particular disaster to take place. I have no complaints about that. Every time was well deserved and should have resulted in additional enlightened learning on my part (though unfortunately I sometimes have lingering doubts about that). -
Blue-on-blue torpedo situations
RAHJAILARI replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
Hehe! Yeah, true that. I once dropped my full load of 8 torps from Mogami right on the forecastle of a friendly DD, which was at the time passing me real close (almost touching, but not quite), when I had slowed down a bit to launch some torps at an approaching enemy BB. I did not see it in the minimap because she was so close the icon did not render separately there and since I have rather a small computer screen, she did not yet show in screen view either (was slightly off somewhere to the right of my screen view at the time). So the first I was aware of her being there was the sudden BOOM , a pinky message and some bitter complaining in team chat from my unfortunate victim. Can't really blame the lad either. Oh well, I have since learned to take the occasional closer look around my ship before launch, just in case. -
Blue-on-blue torpedo situations
RAHJAILARI replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
It is even simple than that, my friend: "Shi*(p) happens." Not every situation can be anticipated, though admittedly the world-famous Irish lawmaker (I am truly proud of the lad) Mr. Murphy had it mostly right on that one. Sometimes it happens to you, sometimes you do it to others, sigh! Such is the agony life. And of course, should try NOT to do it again, if ever... -
How is is sexist? As far as I know all the ships are referred to as "She". I mean every single one of them... And second, there are plenty of female captains for those who have taken them. Nearly all ARP Captains are female and so are the Azur Lane ones. There was also the multitudes of Dasha commanders on offer just recently, so you can only blame yourself, if you didn't get one. As for the historical captains, the problem might primarily be that during WW1 and 2 period, very few women ever made it to serve in any navy at the time. So it is hard to come up with female commanders that are any less fictional than the Anime chicks we already have now.

t8 MM: When will this be fixed???
RAHJAILARI replied to Besserwisser3000's topic in General Discussion
Well, strangely enough, when I checked on that a while back (since I had similar complaints myself before) I only end up in majority tier 10 games with my tier 8's about 30-40% of the time, some days perhaps a bit more but not nearly all the time and one can deal with it just by adjusting his playstyle to play a bit more cautious when that happens. Of course, if you play tier 8 (especially Cruiser) early in the morning (say before 10am GMT), then you will be very likely to end up in a tier 10 match but that is to be expected. Now I am not saying that one should end up in tier 10 all the time, but that is quite obviously not the case and claiming that this happens 90% of the time is just plain BS. If you play tier 8 with a +-2 tier MM it will occasionally happen that you will end up in tier 10 match, that is a given so the only reliable solution to "Resolve" that for anyone, who never wants to be a bottom tier is just to FXP to tier 10 and play with them all the time, no issues. Of course, the problem here might be that too many people are actually doing just that resulting in an oversupply of many queuing tier 10's and small number of tier 8's being in MM queue at the same time, which would eventually result in the few tier 8's being matched against tier 10's just so that a team(s) can be assembled no matter how WG tries to prioritize the MM. In the end what all this will amount to is simply that since there are ways to deal with it, mostly just learning how to play as bottom tier, it is really no use whining about it but it would be more useful to focus one's attention and energies into learning how to do it and still have a good game. I'm pretty sure there are many people here in forum quite willing to share useful tips on how to do that and not only survive, but also do well -
I agree. I take it only for Cruisers, which I have specifically configured, as DD hunters so i can spot and perhaps evade the inevitable torp strike when chasing them into their smokes. Also useful in close quarters against the RN Cruisers. Might be OK for German DD's too, especially in a knife fight to aid the hydro.
