    Zoning, does it work?

As far as I can tell, sector re-enforcement only works well, if the enemy planes are attacking the ship next to you and keep within the sector while conducting it. If you are targeted, then you tend to get more plane kills using Def AA without any sector re-enforcement than with it, because then planes will spend a little longer time within the 100% effective area of your AA (both coming and going and sometimes also while returning). Leaving both sectors to 100% also allows your ship to maneuver more radically to avoid / minimize hits without compromising overall AA effectiveness so much. ' My best score consistently using Manual AA 4-point skill (not worth the skill point cost, I must say) and sector re-enforcement in an Atlanta was 31 plane kills in 1 game, while the best I could get without using any and just suicidally sticking my nose in middle of air raids was 56, so based on that experience I'd be inclined to say that it is a fairly pointless and situational practice at the moment because what you gain on one side, you lose on the other by equal measure so the net effect is +-1=0 under most circustances.

Why are we celebratig Valentine's Day

Well, because why the he*ck not?
  3. Well, I put Yamamoto in my Mogami so I could possibly take advantage of most bonuses he offers. It is also the IJN ship I am most likely to get a First Blood in AND the only way to get the much needed heal for Mogami, hehehe. The others, as follows: 1) Mr. Doe (ex. Seagull), his Bro and Mr Halsey unassigned, as of yet but going to put them in US BB's when I get them. 2) Jack Dunkirk in Fiji, saving the evil twin for Exeter. 3) JJ Honore currently in Friant, haven't got his bro yet but prolly will put him into either Algerie or Emile, whichever is performing the worst, when I get around to it. 4) 1st Zhimenky bro in Octiabirskaya, haven't got the other yet, Russian Ovetshkin in Kiev, American version in Kidd. 5) 1st Jutland bro in Hipper, not recruited the other one yet. 6) Da Rong unassigned but probably Loyang, when I get her, the other guy not yet recruited.

    Kamikazi torpedo bombers

Yupp, a fun game indeed. Thinking about also getting the 2nd part "Victory at Sea, Pacific" next (only waiting for a sale in Steam, because I'm a cheapo basterd).. Simply because it has Kitakami and some the other IJN "Specials" in it (and WoWs doesn't). Graphics is not hardcore HD but then again, if the game works, it doesn't need to be either. Sadly, no multi-player mode so far...

    Kamikazi torpedo bombers

Absolutely true there, my friend. Never-the-less an interesting idea though and it would make a nice departure from the standard rocket-plane mechanic. In fact they did have those included in a game called "Victory at Sea" recently so I'm guessing it is doable and perhaps not all that awfully sensitive.

    Kamikazi torpedo bombers

Well, since the planes used for Kamikaze tended to be mostly Fighter aircraft and since the Japanese never really developed rocket armament for their planes during WW2. It would make sense to me to give IJN CV's this option instead of rocket planes. Of course, they would have to be more vulnerable to AA, but in return cause massive damage and a 100% fire chance for every hit in return. That would seem like an interesting alternative to me. And of course, always 100% plane losses every time this attack is used regardless of, whether it succeeds or not. Would also nicely and definitely differentiate IJN CV's character from the others.

    Manual fire control

@Freyr_90 @OTECa1We may have overlooked something very basic here lads... @Babysote, you may have to reset your Captain skills all-together before you will be able to select this skill. Just noticed that although you have a 19 point captain, you do not have any free skill points left ATM for taking on additional skills...

    Manual fire control

TBH - I never tried it on a Cruiser myself, perhaps you can still take it, even if it recommends not to? Give it a try @Babysote

    Manual fire control

Ahh, now I understand. Yes, they changed it a while back so any skills, which are not useful / usable in your current ship cannot be selected anymore. That is an old change tho, last year vintage. Nothing much we can do about it I guess. Sorry about that. Maybe just choose Demotion Expert and / or something else instead?

Clear Sky - how, after the rework?

Well, as I found out. CV's now have a certain finite number of reserve planes, for example 72 - After they have all been shot down, it takes some 60-80 seconds or so to regenerate just 1 aircraft and many times the amount of time to get a full squadron (so not really infinite then). Therefore it would be reasonable to assume that you could get the achievement for shooting down a proportion of the 72? But then again, I guess them achievements have been removed for the time being. Shot down 56 with my Atlanta the other day and got nothing for it as well. Just have to wait then I guess.
  11. YOU LIE !! This is exactly how my team ALWAYS plays this friggin' map!

    Manual fire control

Both are covered lad.. Manual secondaries have not been changed at all in this patch. They work or do not work exactly the same than they did before. Only the AA has been changed, so if AA indeed is the problem, check the video. IF your problem actually is the secondaries, please check the quote from wiki (red text in my post). If the issue is something else, we gonna need more explanation(s) on the problem from you to better understand what is wrong and be able to say anything more.

    Manual fire control

I am assuming you are talking about the AA then, so I'll just leave it here because my Schanhorst's secondaries worked just fine this morning... Other than that, also check this out (from the wiki): " This doesn't mean manual aim; the guns still aim automatically. It requires the player to manually select a target by holding down Ctrl and left-clicking on it. With this skill, the secondaries will not fire at all without manual target selection. "
  14. Yupp, read that log. Still, you were just being horribly mean to the poor Nipper weren't you? I would have NEVER have shot him, that's just cruel and unfair. Torps however...
  15. Shame on you man! You shot him? Poor lad. How awful and totally unexpected in a wargame... 'Tis a saaad ole' world we live in these days. So I guess the team heroically managed to secure the strategically dominant square E1 for the Green Team right?

    BBH Big Bug Hole

I will tell you a secret... When in a small boat it is always best to avoid head-to-head gunfights in the open with a Battleship, you'll live longer and get spanked a lot less. Your only chance of denting a Battleship in an open fight would be to manage to torpedo it, Incidentally Schorsh is not exactly an ideal ship for that either, so just forget close encounters for the time being. Also, did you try to shoot AP, perchance? Because LC small-fry shells will just scratch the paintwork and bounce off the BB's heavy armor. Use HE, aim at the superstructure and take IFHE for your Captain ASAP, then spam it from as far away as you possibly can. Coop is a bad place to test this, because all ships come right to your face immediately, so go to play Randoms instead.
  17. What a strange comparison, Yamato is still quite well able to at least fire the main guns while maneuvering, even if the turrets tend to be nailed to the deck. If this principle would be followed consistently then should we not disable the main guns all-together whenever the player is steering the ship (or tank in Wot) manually? BUT... And this just came to me, if this is indeed such a big issue why not give the players the ability to launch their squads while driving CV's manually BUT they would have to use auto-drop on target?
  18. Hmmh... Although i feel that manual control for CV would be quite essential for improved gameplay and enjoyment. I also played the game this weekend and now have this awful nagging feeling again that they just might be right... But still, perhaps make it a possibility just on the off-chance that SOMEONE might possess 2 active braincells instead of the standard 1?
  19. Yupp, had the same surprise myself. You can also get the same result with Arkansas Beta. Awesome! It always made totally sense to me to have the most CV's in those tiers where ships have the least amount of AA (fair and balanced, I think they call it).
  20. Weeel, there was that one game, when a friend of mine capped all 3 caps with a Bismarck and lived to tell the tale (yupp, all our DD's and the entire enemy team totally potato'd it). I accompanied him with a Mogami and likewise survived. Strangely enough though, Mogami still IS my top ship for capping anything, nearly every game at the least 1 cap at some point. But yeah, I couldn't agree more. DD's should be the ones doing it.

Cv rework poll - keeping dementia at bay

Hhhey! That's age racism, you know. You totally missed 1 option @loppantorkel Lad. To us Geezers for whom it's already too late to keep that pesky dementia at bay.: "I am over 55 years old and don't have a clue of what the you're talkin' about."
  22. Not really bud, for the meantime I will only play Atlanta and Cleveland. Until the CV malarkey has settled and having already reset all Caps for free. I can next give them their new skill sets for free. You see only resetting skills costs you in terms of Elite XP or Doubloons, however assigning unused skill points without resetting is always free, so by doing this I can now afford to wait and see what comes out of all this and then set new optimal skills for my Caps, when the outcome and the resultant best skill combinations are clear.

    Fix Atlanta AA please

At work right now, but I'll be sure to check as soon as I get home so we'll try see how it goes in a couple more hours. I'll keep you posted...
  24. Yeah, CV's do make it kinda redundant but just as @colonel_duce said. Wait and see is the best policy for now. I have reset all Captain skills to 0 and removed it even from my Cruisers and specced all the ships I use (basically just Atlanta and Cleve. Hehehe!) for AA for the time being.

    IJN vs US CVs

Weel @Blixies, since it now seems that sh*it has indeed hit the fan with all the CV rework fallout coming in and panic patches and flurry of nerfs and derps ongoing all over the place. It would seem to me that this is not a good time to start playing CV's at all. If you like them, you will be disappointed on the next patch, if you don't you will be disappointed now. So my honest advice at this point would be to hold it off for a while on both ship lines and wait until the dust settles a bit first. Then, once the CV play has been firmly settled you could give it a whirl.
