    Circles on the mini-map

There are circles on the minimap. Ranges of some sort. Can't find what they mean in the in-game help or in the downloadable beginners guide. Where on the WoWS site or docs does it say what these things are please? I may just be missing it, looking right at it, but I don't see any explanation anywhere. Thanks for any help.

  4. Advice to new players. Don’t play battleships. Battleships need room to manoeuvre, but most maps have islands whose distance between each other is barely more than your turning circle, and is often less. You either hang back and do nothing for your team – until maybe the end when your team is overwhelmed and the enemy come to you and you get some hits in – or you get yourself in knife fights in narrow channels for which you are not equipped. You will get slaughtered by destroyers. Destroyers (which are OP) and cruisers trump battleships in this situation. Battleships have secondary armament that was in reality meant to keep destroyers at bay (the size, range, rate of fire, and DPM of battleship secondary batteries was as good or better than contemporary destroyers – and on a steadier platform) but they basically do nothing in the game. Destroyers do not care about your secondary guns. Even if a destroyer or cruiser target is not moving at all your secondary guns will do almost nothing for you. Battleship guns have hardly any more range than equivalent tier cruiser guns. But the cruiser guns have much greater rates of fire. This allows them to settle into a straight course, correct their range over several salvos – while you are still loading – and hit you reliably again and again. They will set you on fire with regularity. You may be lucky and get a citadel hit and even a devastating strike, but you need more aiming skill AND luck much more than they do. You are too slow to reliably avoid air launched torps. You are very reliant on having support from cruisers and destroyers to help you defend against aircraft, but cruiser and destroyer captains have much faster ships and can get much more XP if they just leave you isolated and go forward. They want to use their advantages – speed, torps, RoF - not sail at 1/2 speed with a fat slow boat like yours. Of course they do. And you will be a honey pot for the enemy planes which will therefore leave them alone. Your role as a battleship in WoWS is to be a big fat slow target in order to allow others to farm XP. Your role for your team is to be a distraction to the enemy while you die. That will work… you will still see victories. But it is extremely unsatisfying game play. To repeat: don’t play battleships. (Unless you are grinding to a carrier line, in which case you need to grind through two).
  5. ???? I have no high tier premiums. Dear LooneyBin, Thank you for your effort to troll, in keeping with the finest traditions of WOWS forum etiquette, but the post I was replying to seemed to think I have the tier 8 BB, the Tirpitz. I have quoted it here for your convenience, and that of Mr Ducat1st0.
  6. ???? I have no high tier premium battleships. Please attempt to keep your insults relevant.

    Battleship gameplay

BB's are not there to play and enjoy, they are there to feed the destroyer, cruiser, and carrier captains. No other reasons.
