I seem to suddenly get massive lag, with 0-2fps even with all graphics settings set to low, during game. I may get two or three seconds of normal fps (between 25-50fps on my setup depending on graphics settings), but then it starts stuttering. This started suddenly today around five on the afternoon (+2 GMT), and hasn't abated since. It's totally unplayable. Ping is stable at ~150 which is normal for my connection. After I get sunk (easy, since I can barely maneuver and/or fire), I can spectate at whatever stable fps my gfx settings allow, with no stuttering.
I have no idea what's going on, and its driving me quite nuts.
EDIT: figured out part of the cause, it was MsMpEng.exe scanning itself while running its scan in the background that was taking all of one CPU core and a ton of memory. Fixing that and turning on VSync and triple buffering returned my FPS to playable levels, though there's still an odd FPS drop whenever more than one ship shoots at me or there are torpedoes near my ship. This FPS 'freeze' doesn't seem to be affected by any graphics settings at all, currently playing on medium and getting 30-50fps outside of the drops. Very odd.
