Richelieu secondary build - to commit or not?
Exocet6951 replied to Admiral_Oily_Discharge's topic in General Discussion
Pls no More seriously, everything in that sentence is the epitome of the bad Richelieu/Jean Bart. Sitting bow in is the best way to get spammed to death quickly, and best way to under-utilize half of the French BBs' point : speed. Speccing secondary is icing on the bad idea cake, especially on the Richelieu which has pretty poor secondary guns (either too small caliber, or large enough caliber but horrendous reload speed). It can be fun seeing fireworks, but if you're looking for something effective, it's a bad idea. From what I've seen you write, I highly suggest you rethink your approach to T8+ French BBs, because you're going to have a bad time otherwise. -
Oh boy, the Hindenburg syndrome all over again. "Here is a concept of a close quarters ship. It doesn't quite work the way we want it, so we're going to make it better at long range, ruining her entire raison d'être " At least the Hindenburg has the hilarious dumb 1/4th HE pen patchwork fix to make her stand out. What does the Agir bring that the Azuma doesn't already, apart from 2 last ditch torpedo launchers ?

Russian battlecruiser line. As a third cruiser branch of course. I for one welcome our new quad 305mm turret TurboStalin overlords.- 22 replies

12.6 Stalingrads, completely normal phenomenon
Exocet6951 replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
Ah, did I miss the memo where ships have different parameters between random and clan battles? -

And while you're being condescending because a controlled CB line up fought an inflexible lineup, the Stalingrad is available in random battles against non controlle line ups in CB. But since you can't be a **** about that, you just chose to ignore it. Well done, gold star for your ego. -

Exocet6951 replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
But remember, Stalingrad is just a Moskva sidegrade, can't overmatch 25mm so AP is clearly worthless if you ignore the improved ricochet angles and the fact that it's still using a cruiser slot and has bad HE DPM if you ignore the base 51mm HE pen and enormous fire chance But I'm sure the "No it's fine, you just suck, l2p!" crowd will show up soon enough. Let's ignore the fact that it's this ship that turned CBs into a "field as many HIVs as possible to get that 50+mm HE pen on a fast ship" meta going. -
Fighter planes should engage DD's.

It's ironic that WG would go for subs, when it's clear that they're looking to torpedo their own game.

A brand new "very balanced" russian cruiser on the horizon ...
Exocet6951 replied to I0I_KK_I0I's topic in General Discussion
Considering that at the time, the Kebab was ludicrously OP with less detection and stealth torpedo capable, that the Ognevoi can considered and oddball ship that's just not very good, and the Tashkent's nickname was literally "Trashcan", I can say with absolute resolve that you're blatantly wrong. In fact, you couldn't have picked a WORSE branch to try to make that point. For god's sake, the community pleaded WG to change DD turret HP specifically because the Ognevoi was suffering hat badly. -
Only at Wargaming could the act of not having finished the process of researching a ship give more XP towards getting a replacement than having finished that process be logical. Brilliant. You literally can't make this crap up.

An idea for balancing the new Soviet Heavy cruisers.
Exocet6951 replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Not to my knowledge, but by my estimate, I'd give it 2 years. -

Wish granted. Soviet AP now has RN CL ricochet angles, and become the first AP shell in the game to model the bursting charge in AP shells, leading to both AOE damage and fire chance. -
The advantages of 305mm AP over 220mm

DD shooting without being detected?
Exocet6951 replied to xXx360yourmomxXx's topic in General Discussion
Stealth fire was removed right after German DDs were released. Those ships were a testing ground for its removal, and when it was shown that they performed well without it, stealth firing got axed. -
Brace yourself, saying something good about WG

True, let's be fair now. Rare or not, no matter how tiny, a good change is a good change. I'm trying really hard not to make it sound like sarcasm, but it's really not ! -

Well yes I know that, but he seems to think otherwise. Thus I'm trying to get his insight on a very similar situation with another pair of ships.

Haha so I play into your argument and compare the Mainz' DPM, shell flight time and HE penetration with T9 and T10 heavy cruisers, including one that has actually less armor than the Mainz, and the first thing you do is make a connection with a light cruiser with only AP. Make up your mind lmao Do you compare it with heavy or light cruiser? Also, I'd love to have your take on what the Bayard is. It was built on a CA hull (Charles Martel) and has a bigger turning circle than it, but has 152mm guns. So what is it? Had those ships been built, they would have been built at CAs, so what is the Bayard? A CL or a CA ?
-
Ok then, let's play that game. For a T8 heavy cruiser, it has 12 guns firing every 6 seconds, giving it an HE DPM of 204k with 38mm of HE pen. That's actually better than the 12 gun Zao on T10. It's vastly better than the 15 gun Buffalo on T9, while having better shell travel times than the Buffalo until 18km, which is beyond the max range of those ships. As a "CA", Mainz has the firepower of a T10

Imagine thinking that broken automatically means OP. My toaster isn't broken, it's merely overpowered at burning my toast !

"If every single person you come across is a jerk, then perhaps the issue is not with them" AP rocket will end in one of two ways: Hilariously OP, or useless against everything but cruisers. Either way, why? You can't just take ransom things and combine them nonsensically then say "we're just trying new things", while releasing them to the public. New features need concepts, reasons, context. This goes for every single industry. PS: can people stop with the melodramatic, self victimizing German ship = bad ? Seriously, talk about having an inferiority complex.

Oh boy, I'm getting severe AP bomb development flashbacks here... Gee, I wonder how those turned out...
