Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Exocet6951 replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
It still opens up quite a few "area denial" drops that are simply impossible to do with 8km range torpedoes on a ship spotted 9.7km-ish away. To me, it's a change that can dramatically increase the torpedo hits. Granted it would increase it from the occasional WTFPWN ambush to an occasional ambush + a hit here or there every few games, so the word 'dramatic" might be a bit of a misnommer, but it's still an interesting change that I'm going to accept without hesitation. -
Want to bet that a Fletcher's role is closer to a CV's role than a BB's? Let's also completely ignore the fact that in your own example, different players might play by different rules according to what their role is or if they have the ball, because that's just trying to crumble the already shaky foundations holding up your argument.

Because there's a *significant* difference between an out-of-game video from a third party and an interactive ingame tutorial when comes down to information retention and actual desire to learn. @ThinderChief Done Oddly enough, very relevant to tutorials. Two memes, one ****post.

Thoughts on Italian cruisers. As some of you may know, it's been confirmed for a while now, Italian cruisers are coming on their merry way in late Q3 to early Q4 2018 after RN DDs. Feel free to speculate on the branch's composition, but a better thread for that is the fan made tree here: An excellent read. Instead, I thought I would bring the forum in this new thread for a little brainstorm/feedback/speculation session. WG loves its gimmicks, that's no secret, and with speed boost gone for the French (for some reason) and every other consumable having already been taken, the prospect of finding a consumable combination that makes sense and hasn't been taken by another branch is not looking good. So where does that leave us? Well, it turns out that a solution might be found in one of WG's oversights regarding existing Italian ships. As @Historynerd pointed out, some Italian HE shells are currently using SAP shells as a basis, and that somewhat limits their alpha damage, making them overall the worst HE shells of those calibers. Even in soft stats, they fall short of even the low damage German shells. So why is this a potential solution? Well, if WG wants to use SAP shells as HE shells, why not make said shells actually act like pseudo-SAP shells? The concept is rather simple, you have an HE shell bound by exactly the same constraints as currently, only instead of having a krupp modifier of 1 (thus having a penetration of a fraction of a millimeter), you increase it to a bit more. Say, enough to penetrate a superstructure or very lightly armored ship that's not too angled. And presto, you now have a shell capable of exploding inside a ship thanks HE's natural 0.01s fuze setting. The second part of it is damage. That's the tricky part, and one with which I won't delve into absolute numbers, because theory rarely seemlessly merges with practice on the first try. The current alpha damage on Italian HE is pretty poor. So you keep that. In fact, you can probably lower a bit, because this hypothetical SAP shell would act in on of two ways: First scenario is the classic one. The shell doen't have enough penetration to go through, so it explodes on contact. Classic HE damage rules, HE penetration checks, low damage because Italian HE cannot into damage nor fire chance, etc... Second scenario is the interesting bit. The shell manages to penetrate. What's the pay off? Increased damage. The damage fraction goes up so the shell deals more than the regular contact fuze damage. What's the cost? If the shell explodes in the ship, it's not exploding at the feet of some poor AA crewmen. Less module damage. And that's the pitch. A branch whose gimmick is simply having potentially more or less damaging HE shells, depending on your aim and RNG. A bigger focus on HE damage than fire chance, without relying on the lazy 1/4th HE penetration rule. NOTE: IFHE shouldn't interact with this hypothetical shell's physical penetration, as the skill only acts upon the HE penetration. I'd really love to hear what you guys and gals have to say about this, and if you feel that it's a stupid suggestion (it was born at 4AM during a sleepness night, so chances are that it is) tell me why and what you think a better direction for these ships are. I'd also love to ask @MrConway if it's even technically feasible.

Thoughts and speculations on Italian cruisers

That's unfortunate, I guess I'll have to pester @Sub_Octavian or a dev during a Q&A session -
Watch the lawsuits pouring in, despite the EULA saying they're allowed to do whatever they want, if Microsoft decides to completely revamp Windows for the worse. I'm honestly perplexed to see people so openly and proudly defending the rights of company to bend you over and take you to brown town. What next, defending the right of a car rental company to randomly remote shut down a car you rented because you criticized their insurance policy or a car's build quality?

Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)
Exocet6951 replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
I know right? Dealing 70k damage and winning and survive? Top 3 xp, win and survive? 3 defended ribbons and win? Really? Difficult? -
I already made a comment about that on TAP Essentially, a EULA is not law. Anything can be disputed in court. That point about censoring fansites in a game EULA is ridiculous though. First of all, it makes no goddamn sense. Making you accept rules in a game pertaining to third party websites unaffiliated with WG? What? Second of all, it's hilarious vague. Hell, this very topic could fall under that rule, and have ingame repercussions for the people posting. I'm sure nothing bad will happen, especially in the EU where an EULA is almost meaningless. However, should it happen, I urge anyone affected to lawyer up and brew a media storm. I'm sure the media would love a story about an ex Belarussian company set up in an EU taxhaven censoring journalistic content, and threatening your pseudo-ownership of ingame content bought with your real money.

You certainly could argue it. Unfortunately, a proper answer to if the Atlanta is OP or not, especially with the little amount of statistical and analysis tools with the lack of depth available to the players, is simply unattainable. It's a fringe ship with peculiar characteristics and simply no peer to compare it to. Our approaches, both positive or negative, are purely superficial or coincidental. All I know is that it's the ship I'm most glad I bought. More than the Giulio I essentially got for free. It's just that fun and potent. -

Exocet6951 replied to The_Wallet_Warrior's topic in General Discussion
Not OP no. It's too reliant on a series of events happening. That being said.... 14 barrels with 4.Xs reload, which lowers to a bit less than 4s if you get hit a bit and have AR, combined with IFHE. Absolute monster in the right circumstances. It does things to T7 BBs and lower that should downright illegal. If I don't have one comment like "Atlanta OP", "omg Atlanta Rambo machinegun" or a report, I consider that I've done a bad job. Cherry on top of the cake: people who forget that she has torpedoes. -

New campaign missions are absolutely ridiculous
Exocet6951 replied to FishDogFoodShack's topic in General Discussion
People like you are the reason for idiotic missions that aren't as much difficult as they are needlessly luck-reliant, restrictive and plainly poorly designed. People like you, defending those missions with a holier-than-thou attitude, where they consider themselves morally superior because they don't mind getting less reward for more effort. You are the reason for 21/26 task requirement for the Indianapolis, and things like the Nachi mission. It's not challenging, it's just plain ****ing dumb. And you defending it is making WG think that it's perfectly alright. You know what? Give me a mission where I need to do 250k damage A mission where I need to get a Kraken. Or give me half the super containers (which will contain a spotter plane upgrade and 100 pointless flags) for actually straight forward missions. I don't care. But if I need to do stupid crap like getting 12 defend ribbons while setting 5 fires, all while surviving and winning the battle as top 2 in XP while in a T9 or T10, then you're not making a difficult mission, you're just making a stupid one. -

****ing called it ! -
I specifically used the wording that I used to put aside the oddity that is the Molotov. My statement does hold true. Hell, the Pensacola's AP pratically matches or trails just a tad behind most T8 203mm AP,. USN improved ricochet angles on 10 guns able to overmatch some of the cruisers and DDs it'll see, plus the best penetration in that tier, plus very workable accuracy, plus great firing angles, plus great range for a T6, plus a workable concealment (not great, but not catastrophic), plus a good rudder shift, plus a great turn radius... Honestly, people are seeing poor gun traverse and same old terrible T5.5 cruiser armor and just branding the ship terrible, ignoring all the ridiculously powerful things about the ship.
-
Yeah, the ship with 10 improved USN 203mm AP salvo with great firing angles, more penetration than other 203mm below tier 8 a quick rudder, good range, very good AA for that tier, and quite a bit of health is totally going to have no chance at T6. The Pensacola could be T4, and people would still complain that's it's weak because you eat citadels if you go broadside.

Something something pitchforks, something something torches. /jk I've been looking at the opening cinematic for a few minutes, and I have to say that I'm appalled. There's a shocking moment that's profoundly triggering me. A Mikasa actually able to use its secondary guns. 0/10 unrealistic depiction of gameplay. Clearly false advertising. Buff Mikasa NAO.
