  1. Next patch, we're getting oak planks, rum and high octane fuel. You heard it here first.
  2. They do feel different, I can confirm, but they're basically and surprisingly identical. Scharnhorst indeed has good sigma, but you saying that proves my point that sigma isn't the go to accuracy indicator. The Republique has very similar base accuracy as the T8 and T9 coupled with practically identical ballistics, so some extra sigma will only help so much. It feels better, but that's only because you fire faster and more often than not have a 2nd chance at firing, and erasing from your memory the embarrassingly bad rng that your previous salvo suffered from. It's also why I consider the Alsace to be more reliable in a per salvo comparison. They both have similar accuracy, but the Alsace has 4 more chances to hit the right spot. All in all, a very odd and polarizing ship that manages to feel different than it actually is. Very much worth those 20 million credits just for that.

    kamikaze no, but shinyo, sure.

    I don't think you're the problem here
  4. That's actually 100% confirmation bias. Looking at the actual data, the French 380mm AP and 431mm AP have almost identical ballistics. Same time to target at all ranges (with a very slight edge to the 380s), and they land at angles with max 1 degree of difference compared to each other. It's so close that at all ranges below 26km, it can be considered identical. As far as mechanical accuracy, they're rather similar, but the Republique has better sigma so shells tend to be closer to the center. For all intents and purposes, the only massive difference between the 380mm and the 431mm guns is penetration and overmatch. Ballistics are identical and accuracy is not good enough to be significantly affected by some extra sigma. The only reason the Republique feels better is that you can more quickly fire a second time.

    Moskva After Update

I know right? WG in a nutshell. Add turtleback, submerged citadels, 27-50mm plating until the ship can be played with a single hand on the mouse, and the other in the trousers. That's how we get herp derp 21km HE spam hindenburgers, bow tanking Moskvas, and full broadside RN BBs taking very little damage while dealing 15k damage salvoes with HE. Literally everything I've just listed has happened at least twice for me in the last hour. High tier battles are garbage.

Is IFHE on a GK basically useless?

You have the numbers right, but you missed one little detail... You need more than 32mm of pen to go through 32mm plating. At least 1mm more. Without IFHE, you are not able to pen 32mm plating, but with IFHE, you go above the magic 32mm of pen, thus you can deal damage , making the skill useful.
  9. "Mainstream" Ask a random person on the street if he knows the ship named "Derfflinger", then ask "Bismarck". To drive my point home, let' ask Googles...The former (with an added word to specify that we're looking for the ship) is 50k results, the latter 3.5m results (*) This isn't just a game for enthusiasts, and certainly not specifically WWI enthusiasts. On that principle, no, a German BC branch wouldn't be a best seller because there are no huge mainstream names that appeals to any random person. It would have to rely on it own merits and German pride/reputation (which is absolutely not insignificant or at times, warranted). And right now, submerged citadel is a big red flag of WG having no idea what the hell to do with it, and BBs in general. (*) For reference, a small commercial website for an online brand you've never hear of I developed has 46k hits on Google. So yeah, not mainstream, which is my point.
  10. I highly highly disagree. With the Bismarcks and Scharnhorsts out of the way, the big, mainstream names have dropped. Anything German will now have to sell based on it own merits and "German Kriegsmarine kruppstahl best stahl" mentality. Considering that the first premium (in a nation whose BB branch already has essentially no citadels) has a submerged citadel, so I'm not exactly feeling optimistic around any German BC branch having merits that go further than "I has no citadel and a 50mm deck lul"
  11. Clearly WG's "Too many BBs, we're working on it" department at it again

    The true power of divisions

No, I understand everything you just said. You think having friends is an unfair advantage. You know what that sort of logic leads you? Well guess what buddy, nicknames are also recognizable, and I'll spontaneously stick close to a forumite I know to be competent. So I guess ban nicknames as well, with everyone's name blocked out during battle. Seeing what type two ships on your team that can form a potent symbiotic duo, something the other team doesn't have? Banned as well, now we only have perfectly mirrored MM. Having some good players while the opposite team have only bad players? No more, mirror MM for player skill as well. And that's where you line of idiotic logic leads: waiting 5 minutes for a match with perfectly mirrored teams and faceless allies. You might as well just play a single player game.

    Radar the numbers

22% of all ships in a battle having a radar is enormous though... That's more often than not 3 per battle, on average. Then you factor in spotter planes, hydro (especially on DDs, for added fun), CVs..... The vision based counters are getting extremely numerous, and it's not exactly rare to see a team of 3 ships with radars, plus 3 more ships with 5-6km hydro, and some float planes in the air. This is exasperated by the fact that WG enjoys slapping on radar or hydro on new ships until they look "marketable".
  15. Reading the comments, I must be extremely unlucky with my teams... I tried a few times, and every time I barely get there in time using speed flat and making a beeline to defend both bases from being destroyed, barely destroying everything in time to save the second one. The price you pay for having potatoes with no notions of making an effort for the team.

Oh god, how could this have gone unnoticed by the thousands of people on the PT server?! oh wait.... Memegaming in a nutshell, making a test server to test last patch's new ships. Gaming innovation.
  17. Exocet6951

The new "meme" launchers are here [WiP-ish]

I think that it was heavily sarcastic. The gap between torpedoes is enormous, and the width of the salvo is quite simply pointless. I'd take a single faster firing quad over a single sextuple any day of the week.
  18. 34k coal, 0 steel. That's what I get for cheesing ranked, going from 19 to 15 every season just for a pretty flag I never use
  19. Exocet6951

    lol this is stupid

There is pattern recognition though. If someone keeps dropping his connection just when entering a battle in which he's not top tier, it's suspicious behavior. If big data firms are able to craft your online persona and profile with your basic browsing habits, surely WG can elaborate a basic risk level for things like that.

No no no no, had you read what I said, you would have seen I already took that into account. When you filter by percentile, you will see the same results. And you better believe that the top 5% of players on one ship tend to be top 5% in other ships as well. And guess what? At all percentiles, it's a shocking +6-10% WR and +10-30% damage. Not balanced. Which isn't exactly a surprise to anyone. I would envision it as a T8 battleship. It has the AA for it, has the armor for it (again, it just needs to either ricochet large shells, shatter cruiser AP and make large AP shells coming at an angle cause a regular pen. A 9inch belt would do just that), would benefit from 32mm bow, the guns good enough while having very good reload speed, and very probably buff the accuracy compared to other BBs. And boom, there you have it. A fast, reasonably armored BB with quick firing, relatively accurate guns focused on dealing smaller, but more constant (and consistent) damagee, and that's taking up a BB slot. Then don't call gun with more penetration than 14" guns mediocre when ships with guns with half that penetration and quite frankly not that much worse DPM (cough Henri IV) do perfectly well. Especially if you're arguing to put said with on T9 or T10, where it could fire at targets 20km away and still have as much muzzle penetration than some CAs. And I really, REALLY wouldn't start going into me misreading things, considering that 3 people have been inadvertently feeding each other arguments against things I haven't said, then exaggerating those, and not even bothering to read the answers where I specifically say that's not what I meant. That's a thread that I really wouldn't pull, were I someone with a half bit of self-awareness. Then why not ask, instead of blindly assuming I meant T7, then going down to T6 because reasons? Lower means just that, lower than the tier we had been talking about, ie T9 and T10.

First of all, stop downplaying the armor. A 50mm belt is able to bounce Yamato shells. A 9 inch belt with a 32mm bow is enough to autobounce literally all but one gun in the game, and can defeat most guns into giving only regular pens. Shoot an angled Kongo's belt with an Iowa, see how many citadel hits you get. Not as many as you think. As for mediocre guns... People are using cruisers with 200-300mm of penetration at T10 to severely damage BBs, but suddenly a gun with 500mm of pen is mediocre? Come on, perspective please. There are many ways to balance smaller caliber guns. You have people praising the hell out of the Lyon, yet it has guns that can't ovetmatch anything more than what 305mm guns can, has less penetration, and has less accuracy than an Alaska would have, on top of having a full 30s reload which the Alaska would not have. Perspective is key. You can't praise the hell out of one ship on T7 despite it having the guns of a T5 ship, then calling a ship with similar (yet better) guns mediocre. PS: Look at the Kron's stats, filter by percentile and tell me it fits. Spoiler alert, +10% average WR and 10-20% more damage on top of more survival says it doesn't. Which makes bloody good sense when you replace one cruiser with a pseudo battleship with radar. And you people welcome with open arms one that would be stealthier.

I specifically said "lower tier", never low tier. Lower is different than low. You guys should stop putting words into my mouth and projecting arguments you made onto me. Seriously, you started with T7 and the Scharnhorst, and now you're going as far as saying that I said I wanted it to be a t6. Stop that, it's no way to hold an argument. I specifically never gave a number to avoid this sort of nitpicking.

    Moskva After Update

Nonsensical change. Unless it's to prepare us for the glorious and majestic RU BB branch with balanced 50mm bow and deck armor. "give my ships kickass bow armor in case they make a video game about them one day ayy lmao" - Stalin circa 1947, probably.

    USS Alaska sighted

Which is literally what I've been saying all along, thank you for rephrasing it Make it act as a lower tier BB with some improved stats compared to other BBs to make up for its intrinsic weaknesses rather than trying your hardest to make it fit with regular cruisers at the risk of making it either garbage or OP.
