IE: what happens when you have more and more brainless BB branches, and cruisers just stay back or risk exploding instantly. It's nothing more than natural selection. The ones alive are the ones doing the most to stay alive, because all the others are dead within the first 5 minutes.

Oh sure, but the sure fire way to do so is a BB or DD. CV if you're willing to gamble on MM. BBs and high survival means more damage so more XP. DDs means damage to other DDs and juicy caps. Cruisers are a bit more of a gamble than the others. If your BBs and DDs suck, there's nothing you can do but watch.

All it takes is a high value ship you can carry with (ie: anything that's not a cruiser), do a good job, win and presto, over 1750xp.

Overmatch springs to mind, as well as having more penetration, it also as an extra 10k HP, the best deck armor in the game, very very little 32mm plating that can be directly damaged by cruiser HE, and no nothing bit of the "all or nothing" armor scheme on the upper belt, making it extremely vulnerable to closer range cruiser, and even in very close ranges DD AP. And the worst part? Even when you compare what is probably (to me) the overall best BB of the FR branch with the arguably worst BB of the German branch, you still fall short of "German BBs useless, FR BBs replaced them".

... Like everyone else? Only, not everyone has that upper belt that shatters cruiser AP, which is why you can easily score 8-10k salvoes with cruiser AP on other nations' BBs, while you need to be much closer with good 203mm AP in order to even dream of pulling off the same numbers to German BBs. It's been 2 years, this "big superstructure and weaker upper belt where you can deal 15-20k salvoes" meme has to stop.

You can't just "want" something to be something it had no chance to become, then complain when it was never going to be that way. By the way, Dallas has better AA at 5km and combined 5+3.5km AA than other T6 CLs. It's objectively superior. In fact, you have to look at your much hated Pensacola to find better cruiser AA at T6. Being 2nd in terms of AA doesn't make it have "bad AA" as you're suggesting.
