Because they take inherently more risks and essentially have no chance to bounce anything, with each overpen being a significant amount of HP permanently lost? In fact, some DDs have less torpedo an main gun range than some secondaries. Most can't even reliably hit BBs, what they're supposed to counter, when the former and retreating. The torpedoes simply don't have enough range nor speed to catch up without the DD actually being spotted. So why should DDs be more protected? Because short of a radar cruiser or a Minotaur, BBs are a lot more of a risk to DDs than cruisers. Yup, the ships that counter DDs (when coordinating) are less of a risk to DDs than the ships DDs are supposed to counter.

Not even remotely. Also, most T9-10s are paper ships. RN CLs and BBs? Paper. MN CAs and BBs? Paper. KM CAs, DDs and BBs? Paper. IJN? T9 BB is paper, T10 CA is a paper, T10 CV is paper. VMF? All paper except the Trashkent, a ship essentially designed by the Italians anyway. Claiming that T9 and T10 being paper is a problem with a branch is completely illogical considering that of all 40 T9 and T10 silver ships, only 15 were not paper. And I'm being generous, counting things like the unfinished Montana, converted (yet never finished) into a CV Ibuki, and clones of existing ships like the Chung Mu into the mix.

If you're bow in, sure. But the second you're not at an autobounce angle? 12 shells with 12k alpha beats 8 shells with 14.5k alpha any day of the week. More chances to hit, more chances to citpen despite the lower penetration. There's a reason the Alsace was nerfed, despite having the smallest guns. It might not work as well in a smaller, more organized clan battle lineup with a higher skill level, I will grant you that without hesitation, but in randoms? Scary stuff.

Bow tanking is good and all, but in my experience, a CA that's stuck on a single bearing tends to be focused. That, and runs the risk of losing front turrets. That's the thing I actually liked about the Alsace: you have clear cut disadvantages. Get focused by HE spam? There's no 50mm deck to save you from literally minutes of HE spamming. Face a bow tanking targets? Either switch ammo, aim at turrets or die. Granted you had too many strengths to counteract that, and in many ways still do, even after the nerf. So putting it in T10? Seal of approval, even if it shows some clear lack of foresight and testing from WG.

Glorious buffed T9 Alsace crammed into T10? I actually approve. I mean, RIP cruisers, but hey let's face it, the Alsace could have been a T10 from the start.

German DDs are some of the best all-rounders you can ask for. German BBs are a giant bundle of easy mode kek with literally only one weakness: their guns aren't accurate. German CLs have built in IFHE with enormous DPM. German CAs are very forgiving machines that have been turnt from extraordinarily fun brawly CAs into long range HE spam idiocy because of years of too many BBs coupled with people only wanting to spam HE from as far back as possible and bringing the Hipper to Hindenburger's stats down. German ships weak? HA. Don't make me laugh. I swear, in literally every single game with German vehicles....
