And the horde of Sims trying to sneak in for a torp attack? For lack of a better word, I defiled them using the secondaries with improved range. it's absolutely horrific in its brutality. It's the poster-child of how ridiculously not underpowered BBs are.

The barbette bug really kills it, and the enormous spread on the 5 low range buttlauncher torps makes it hard to hit with more than 1 torp (on the rare occasion you get to use them).

You only get sunk if there are people in the vicinity alive to sink you.IJN BBs have rather poor deck armor, so staying at a distance isn't a good idea, but get too close, and the armor belts don't hold up to heavy fire. But get in a bit closer, just enough to have enough time to dodge torpedoes and maneuver to sink an incoming DD, and you're king of the world. Stay within 10km of cruisers, and you'll be able to deal with any maneuver they throw at you, even if it's a suicide charge to sink torps into you.

No, their gameplay doesn't encourage camping, campers encourage camping. Christ, if you get a Nagato at 8-10km range, it becomes a tough as nail behemoth, but no, most people snipe. Why? Because people don't like taking risks, and would rather see themselves do a lot of damage and lose rather than do less damage, die but win the battle anyways. BBs have excellent defence at mid-range, and enough accuracy to plow through cruisers.

Every time I cross a Cleveland in my Ibuki, I clench my buttcheeks, because as soon as he gets into the 14.5km range, it's salvo after salvo of citpens and turret destruction. Tier6 vs tier9 , tier6 wins. The only IJN cruiser that's a match for the Cleveland is the Mogami, and that's only because she's a Cleveland in disguise with her 6rpm triple 155mm batteries.

It's either that, or have limited torpedoes with a more realistic MM where for every capital ship, you have anywhere between 4 and 8 DDs. Suit yourself, but I think that you would NOT like having 4 times the amount of destroyers there are now.

Atlanta : Slayer of IJN cruisers. Just blanket a Myoko or Ibuki/Mogami with shells, and you're guaranteed to have at least one third your shells citpen. Shells of which there are a lot.

Yeah! And while we're at it, let's set IJN CAs' grave on fire ! Seriously, stop playing the Fuso for 2 minutes, and try to see how if you get shot at by waves and waves of torps like you are saying, maybe you are doing something wrong. Most IJN DDs won't even bother firing at over 7km, USN DDs at your tier have 6.7km range at most, and cruisers with torpedoes will almost never be able to get decent torp shots at you without dying horribly first.

I'm 90% certain it's only on single gun turret, 100% certain it's a 120mm and 100% certain it's a secondary DP gun.. The Yubari is a very good ship, even without the 120mm DP gun being player controlled. So yeah. I think I'll just leave this info there.

And there you go, it's always a question of "deserving". Same exact problem with WoT. People getting upset because French tanks came before British tanks, and they up in arms about British tanks "deserving" to be first. Again, for emphasis, I would prefer having the RN come before the Russian navy, but there is no room for "deserve" in a video game. Well that's a bold statement to make. I personnally would prefer to see the Royal Navy come as soon as possible, honestly I would have prefered KM vs RN as two starting nations as I grew up playing a DOS game called Great Naval Battles I: North Atlantic 1939-1943 and still have the motherboard-produced music stuck in my head to this day, and making an HD Prince of Wales duke it out with a Bismark makes me feel all funny in my pants. That said, I get WG's stand on the matter, and I can conceive that Russian ships are much less known than RN ships which makes people curious. I'm curious as hell to see what the Russian navy has to offer.

It's 45m of depth minimum, for a total horizontal distance in the water of anywhere between 30m and 50m , depending on speed and altitude of drop. That's still much, much lower than the current distance on planes. Funny that people ask for historical accuracy on torpedoes so they arm slowly, when it's the exact opposite <.<

You should see their tears of rage if air-dropped torps had a historical 30m arming rage (for some US torps)

I'm hijacking the thread for an instant to ask a question and crew skills on IJN (the thread title does work with the question). Should concealment or pyromania be chosen first on high tier IJN CAs? I like the idea of having 19% chance of setting on fire per HE shell if I'm facing a BB, but I also like the idea of not being seen at 12km Any insights ? Bump for great justice !

Because tanks and planes had a simpler progression.As time passed, designs got better. And with 1-2 year development times and at worst a few weeks of work per vehicle, progress could be made fast. Ships are different. Ships take years to design, and months and months to build, and aren't always more powerful in term of firepower as their older brethren. A chronological advancement would make ships like the Myoko (currently tier8) come before ships like the Katori.

I think a more diverse choice of shells in higher tier could also motivate people. Also, and this is just an idea, some kind of "enemy waters" mechanism, where there are enemy ground installations on the enemy side of the map, and the higher tier you go, the bigger and more diverse they get. IE: At tier 5, a couple AA guns thrown in with a small pillbox and 127mm gun shooting at enemy ships passing, and a bigger fortified position at tierX. WoWP uses that system already, after all, and it's one of the better things about that game.

Haha that climb on the Des Moines. Very balanced ship 10/10 I'm surprised by the Ibuki though...On the same level as the Mogami? Odd. What I'm not surprised about is the horrifying drop after the Minekaze. It's at least still manageable on the Mutsuki as the torpedoes compared to tier/detectability is still very good, but after? Bleh.

I love how people consider torpedoes to be "I WIN" buttons. Because clearly when you're in a tiny ship against ships 4 times your size that can spot you from far away with scout planes, that stay at least 10km away from the closest landmass, and you need to get within 4km to get a fighting chance at landing a single torpedo hit that can be seen from far away anyways, that torpedo button obviously becomes an "I WIN" button. Destroyers and CVs are so "I WIN" that they're the most played class in the game! And then, I woke up from my beautiful dream to face the reality of hordes of Clevelands, Fusos and New Orleans utterly crushing IJN cruisers and destroyers.

Wait, isn't the Minekaze the current IJN tierX DD ?
