    Guide: British Cruisers

That's the impression I got from 4 matches with the Caledon and 20 minutes looking at ship stats. How 2 RN: start with the Fiji.

BRAVO WG (A British cruisers topic).

I'd agree with his point, but I then I remembered it was people like him (as in, him personnally) who claims that the Centurions in WoT are weak and don't have enough penetration and armor, despite being the best in that regard for their tier. He's also the one who claims that BBs should take reduced damage from HE and barely suffer fire damage. So everything said from him is taken with a pinch of salt the size of a small salt farm's yearly production. That said, low tier RN CLs are pretty awful. Not enough guns and/or RoF.

Why is matchmaking on destroyers so terrible?

Well it really depends on what ship he's playing, and the map. An Nicholas on Ocean with only 1 DD in the enemy team? Dreadful. A Minekaze on the same map with over half the team being BBs = the best DD game anyone has ever had had.

    The RN is coming tomorrow!

Oh because there have NEVER been magazines dedicated to reviewing movies in the past, and the Michelin guide totally doesn't rate restaurants. Seriously, what one can read...

    Ship relative angle, mod.

It's exactly the same train of thought. It's not on by default, gives a player who has it an advantage, but you can easily obtain it through official sources. And the most hilarious part is that those types of cursors were mods to begin with.
  6. Exocet6951

    Ship relative angle, mod.

Re-read the sentence again please. It refers to the default cursor and one of the cursors you can pick in a menu. It clearly states that the default cursor doesn't have the diagonal lines, while the other does. As such, by his logic, everyone who uses a cursor provided in game that has those lines have an unfair advantage over those who just kept the default cursor, and therefore be called names. Much the same way that you can choose to have the ship angle mod, or not.

    Ship relative angle, mod.

And look at you, a second time in a row ignoring my comment about the ingame cursor and the ability to choose cursors. I wonder why that is... Oh, because it's the same situation. The default cursor is only one horizontal line, while others have diagonal lines giving a clear indication as to what angle the enemy is, and helps you aim, giving a clear advantage over the players who don't have it. You need to dig into the game to get those cursors, the same way you need to dig a bit to find the mod, but it's there. So by your logic, and in your own words, if you use any other cursor than the default one, you're a cheating scumbag who needs to be thrown off a cliff.

    Ship relative angle, mod.

Actually no, a car jack isn't a necessity. You could ask for a bunch of people to help lift while you put bricks under the axel, you could use ropes in a pinch even. There are a lot of things you can use to lift up a heavy object. Simple machines are wonderful things. Much the same way that there are a lot of ways to see if a ship is turning in the game. But if someone offers you a car jack, why use a more difficult technique? You're just rambling on about something you don't like, adamant it's a cheat when the creators of this game specifically selected it to put in an official modpack. PS: You still haven't answered about the different cursors available in game, which you have to change and allows you to better see the angle someone has. Surely that's also an unfair advantage over people who still use the single horizontal line cursor? Want to start going on a rant about that?

    Ship relative angle, mod.

Next time your car has a tire blowout, I want you to change the tire without a carjack as I don't have one so I consider it an unfair advantage. And now please understand that if you try to refute my above arguement, you'll only be weakening your own. it doesn't matter in the slight what the **** you personally think, if someone gives me a useful tool that someone else doesn't want to use, that's on them.
  10. Exocet6951

    Ship relative angle, mod.

You make it out to sound like the people using it are guilty of a heinous crime... If it's in the official WG modpack, available to everyone, what's the matter? It's not a super secret hax0r mod, it's right there for the taking. Complaining about an additional and official tool that's provided is just odd... Why must I feel bad because I'm using some tools given to me by the official creator of the product I'm using? This isn't a 2-4 splits screen game where an "no oddjob!" rule is applicable for the sake of honor and fairplay. Better ban all the cursors INCLUDED in the game that don't have diagonal lines then. Obvious cheat
  11. Here's what I noted : you just don't play mid tier cruisers on the weekend. Instead, you hop in a multipurpose DD and have fun.

    Turrets

IJN pyramidal turret layout, like the Myoko and Izumo. It would be more tolerable if they had decent turret rotation speed, but ships with that kind of turret layout never do.

T6 French Premium: Battleship Dunkerque Disappoints

Considering there's a plague of BBs currently, and a lot of them are German, as long as it has 380mm guns, your Dunkerque has no armor. If you see a tier7+ BB, a Bayern, or a Warspite, you should just assume that unless he's hitting your well angled belt armor you're losing at least 5k hp. At least. Against Fusos and New Mexicos, it's rather fantastic though. I played with my bow against both a Kongo and a Fuso both at 3-5 km, secondaries firing like mad, and only when the Kongo finally managed to flank me did he start damaging me.

T6 French Premium: Battleship Dunkerque Disappoints

I had quite a few extremely fun matches with it, and I'm even surprised at how well the secondaries act even without any dedicated skill or equipment for it. One thing I loathe beyond all else is seeing a Bayern. Upon seeing it, I know two things : my AP will fail to do damage, and his AP will easily overmatch my bow armor and deal 10-12k salvoes with ease, while my guns can't even dream of doing anything even remotely similar. Had this ship been released well before German BBs, it would have sold like hotcakes. Instead...Well lets just say that I make use of HE regularily, and I'm not too optimistic on the efficiency of French BBs if the meta remains the way it is.

    About Winrate

As long as you have a healthy amount of games and a diverse amount of different ships, WR is a very powerful indicator. So no, a player's WR with 400 battles mostly in a Gremy and Blyska is not relevant. But a player with 4k battles having grinded a few lines? That number is very telling. Anyone who disagrees is generally either someone with sub-50% WR, or someone with 57-59% who can't reach up to +60%.

T7 RN Premium Cruiser Belfast: Overpowered.

Yes but he's not saying that the NO, even elite with a 19pt captain is OP, is he? If it looks OP as **** for an average to above average player, then an excellent player who plays just about everything and thus can be trusted to be quite objective in his comparisons tells you that the ship isn't just OP, it's "insta-buy because in this form it'll be removed from the shop"-OP, it's that the ship is massively OP.

    Alternative ship unlock mechanic

I would like to apologize, because upon re-reading my comment, it came off as hostile.Sorry about that. My problem wasn't as much the numbers as trying to get players to play a certain way. When it comes down to cookie-cutter ships with only one real playstyle (typically HE spammers like the Ibuki), making a mission would be easy because most players play it one way only. But when you get to more complex ships in terms of tactics (IJN DDs capable of being gunboats), doing a mission that requires the player to play a certain way is just asking for him to be frustrated. And when you factor in more business-related matters... It's a nice thought, to try to prevent players from getting into tierX who still think it's acceptable to solely max distance snipe with BBs, or spam torps from max range, but it must never come at the hindrance of the regular player.

    Alternative ship unlock mechanic

Not going to lie, those are terrible conditions that can make even a good player be stuck for a few matches. AA cruiser needing to get plane kills? If you're an AA cruiser at higher tier, chances are the very little amount of CVs you come across won't get anywhere near you. Cruiser surviving the end of a match, but requiring them to spot DDs with radar or hydro? That's basically just a coin toss. If you do that, there's a chance your ship will be obliterated. Let's not even go into the possiblity of getting a few matches in a row with only 2 DDs who stay at a distance. Two citpens on a BB with your own BB? With the ridiculous amounts of German BBs currently? Nevermind the fact that it requires a perfect target to line itself up. As for getting a good result a few battles in a row, especially in regards to torpedo damage and DDs doing damage in general, well that too is a coin toss. There's always a chance the cap you go to will be contested and you get killed. I've seen great players have shitty matches because of a radar cruiser's perfect spawn and glorious RNG landing 6-10k salvoes. In short, what you're doing with that is prolonging the grind by a few games, when it should already be over by removing the carrot that was making you go forward at the last second, and making you jump for it. Nevermind the fact that your idea would also force people to play every single ship and elite it, so no skipping ships, which is bad for business. In short, that frustrates every player, does nothing to stop bad players, annoys good players with situational conditions, prevents skipping ships, and force players to act recklessly just in hopes of finishing their missions.

Stumbled upon new Camoflage on the Test Server?

Got it, installed it on my ship, and all I could think of was him: It didn't help that I was in a fat ******* of a ship, and that I was singing the Asterix theme song.

US vs Ruski DDs, advice sought.

Because I'm a silly, silly man who dun goofed.
  23. Exocet6951

US vs Ruski DDs, advice sought.

USN DDs are pure gunboats up to tier6, and as you already analyzed, trade in flat trajectory guns for small ships with better camo compared to VMF DDs, the latter staying pure gunboats until tierX. That said, at tier7, USN DDs undergo a slight change. Their torpedoes start going further than their spotting distance. They stop being only gunboats and start being multipurpose DDs, capable of shooting and stealth torp'ing. So if you prefer flexibility over a strict gameplay, USN DDs are simply better for you. If you think torpedoes are an overrated gimmick and what you really want is to zip around at 40-45 knots while always spotted and being an absolute pest, VMF DDs are better for you. Ultimately, there is no definitive superior choice as a properly used Udaloi can be as infuriating as a Fletcher. But large VMF gunboats are quite unforgiving and have a learning curve, and in this BB-heavy meta, having a couple useful torpedoes is always a nice thing to have. So all in all, I think currently, USN DDs have the slightly upper hand, especially since it contains both the truly excellent Benson and Fletcher. EDIT: corrected mistakes because I no iz smart.

Bismarck insane, or is it just how this game will work now?

I know, right? And the most hilarious thing is that people who say they get reliable 10-15k salvoes on it themselves are grinding German BBs, with their lowered fuze times compared to others. Easier to get a normal pen when your shells doesn't just bounce off in the air and do nothing, or gets a regular pen rather than an overpen This test server has taught me one thing: the best counter to a German BB is a German BB.

Bismarck insane, or is it just how this game will work now?

I love people saying "you just have to learn about armor disposition!!!" Yeah sure, I'll just ask ****ing nicely for my shells to land on a small and specific strip of armor that still bounces shells if angled just a tad above 10 degrees. I can barely get all my salvo to hit a ship at 4km, but sure, I'll aim at a specific point. Just you remember that advice the next time you're drunk and want to use the bathroom. Close the seat back down and stand 2m away, better all you have to do is aim, right? In the mean time, I'll just be happy at going for overpens, random potshots and using HE, because a cheesy 6k damage overpen-only salvo is better than trying to aim at a "weakspot", bouncing or missing everything and getting the square root of jack**** in terms of damage.
