Planned Timely Tree changes and introductions!
Exocet6951 replied to Praetorias's topic in General Discussion
Considering they released the Dunkek, it would be logical to think they're going to release a French line in 2017, though probably closer to the end of the year. I'm guessing RU BBs, RN DDs, RN BBs, and it's a toss up between MN CAs or BBs. BBs would be more logical with the premium ship release, but CAs would make for a more balanced year in terms of ship releases and both the RN release sets a precedent to have a BB and DD premium only to release CL/CAs first. -
DEv/moderators - Dont lisen most of the stuff please...

Wait really? I've been absent for a few days so I can't check. If that's the case that's great. Tier9/10 is just the same boring "herp a derp imma sniping" gameplay, and a platoon with two smoke-capable ships and one heavy hitter just mops up stragglers one by one until victory is had. Tier8 still has a chance of being a somewhat fun battle. -
Well look at it this way : 105mm HE doesn't do damage to armor plating 19mm thick, while 128mm HE does. That 128mm HE will "fail to pen" less often, and won't get the fire reduction malus as often.

WG Killed the khaba. Do NOT ever free XP it, don't even try to grind it, it ain't worth it.

The Kebab has a neat little 50mm armor zone, making it that much harder to damage for cruiser caliber and lower HE shells. That increases survival. Kebab in my mind is more of a side-upgrade. You're bigger and less agile, but you get more survivability through some (effective) uparmoring and speed and you get more firepower, while hte Udaloi focuses more on being stealthy. A sort of hydrid between a USN and VMF ship, making it the black sheep of the line. -
Can we get a hardcap on BBs already?
Exocet6951 replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
Ah yes, the mighty Nicholas, Farragut, and Kiev torpedo soup must be devastating your tier4-8 stats. Seriously, DDs are supposed to be the counter to BBs, and right now all they can do is hope they're morons and don't have a spotting aircraft so that torpedoes hit (sub 10% hit rate), or just HE spam, which takes ****ing forever, especially on higher tier BBs with armored decks. Also, you're not convincing me that cruisers are always superior in maneuverability when some of them (typically Russian and Japanese at mid tier) have longer turn radii than BBs, which again is a massive nerf to the ability to hit with torps. But if DDs and cruisers were so VASTLY superior, you're seen them much more, and wouldn't see the current "5 per side" BB hardcap CONSTANTLY in action in EVERY match. By the way, how's the low tier DDs going for you? Impressive BB countering, with that tremendous average damage of maybe one torpedo hit per match. That mighty IJN torpedo line is really devastating for BBs. But if you want facts, here they are: DDs on average do less than half the damage needed to destroy even but one BB per match. Even the most OP one in a variant that only non-potatoes could win is only managing to go to 60% of the hp of ONE BB every match. That's some damn hard countering right there. The "torpedo soup" excuse is bull****. The complete dominating aspect of BBs in game have driven cruisers to attempt to max range stealth fire at all costs for most of the match or risk instant delete, DDs to spam HE from smoke, and CVs to target damn DDs before BBs because of their overbuffed AA. So no I will not be listening to someone awful stats and 10 battles in DDs and most of his battles in BBs, free xp'ing his way to high tier cruisers on BB balance in game. -
Can we get a hardcap on BBs already?
Exocet6951 replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
Hardcap on DDs = BBs have literally no viable counters. Only a terrible BB hero would suggest something like that, especially since the one torpedo-centered DD line is getting butchered soon. [checks stats] 46% WR player with 64% of his games in BBs. I rest my case. -
As a Fiji, I fear meeting a Konigs or Bayern more than I fear meeting an Iowa for that exact reason. Playing "hit the chimney" at 15km with shells that take 11 seconds to reach the target and fall with the dispersion to cover the entire ship is a depressing game. Especially with the balancedtm armored decks on a few (*cough*) more recent BBs.

If ships were people (or things), what would they look like?

Dramatic photo of a cruiser player mid battle, with a BB player telling him he just needs to L2P : -
Too many battleships in ranked.
Exocet6951 replied to anonym_TymY49y5i0fs's topic in General Discussion
Fun anecdote, I started a random battle in which there were 4 DDs per side (rather than 2-3) and the usual 5 BBs per side. One of the BB heroes complained that it was World of Destroyer, completely oblivious to the irony of the situation. -
His post was spectacular..."Budyonni is more agile than Leander because its maneuverability rating is 60 while the leander is 50!!!" There's really nothing more to add after something like that.

What Were Your Worst/Most Embarrassing Game Today?
Exocet6951 replied to Mandyxx's topic in General Discussion
Trying to play a relaxing game of Hipper, I kinda phase out and stop thinking. I see some smoke nearby and decide "hmm, I'm going to hydro and force the DD out" 5km away from the smoke, I realize that hydro isn't working. I look at my consumables, and what the hell is there? Repair party and spotter plane?? Yup, I mistook the Tirpitz for the Hipper in my port. I also sampled a very amused Fubuki's torpedoes. -
Now compare the turn radius.Budyonni gets superior "agility" because it's faster. You're such a **** poor trol it's not even funny.
-
Not only did you lose against an unarmored ship that can be overmatched by 203mm AP and citpenned though the 13-35mm of citadel armor it has on the bow and even less on the citadel roof, but you also took the time to shoot HE at knife range against a ship that can repair light damage and has torpedoes?
-
Meanwhile, OP has played 8 battles in DDs, and given his average damage, has never actually gotten a torpedo hit with either the Umikaze or Storozhevoi. He might have hit a torpedo or two with the Sampson though. OP confirmed troll. Torpedoes super OP, but even he can't get a single hit with one of the actually most OP DD in the game: the Umikaze.
-
Yes, when a CL meets a DD at 5-6km and he's giving chase, he should totally disengage because the DD is running away. Absolutely no way two top tier Fubukis in a division could be harmful to my team... Tell me again what CLs are supposed to counter?
-
I think people have started understanding how to completely deny RN CLs of damage. In my last match as a Leander, I chased 3 DDs, (2 Fubukis and a Blyska). All 3 just remained perfectly parallel to me, using their rear turrets only. 75% of my hits were bounces, the rest were overpens on the superstructure. Even hitting a DD's aft plating lead to bouncing. I was never as miserable playing this game as I was playing a game of "shoot the chimney with AP" on a moving DD 7km using 6inch guns with bad arc and bad accuracy.

Did the Dunkerque get nerfed in 0.5.13?
Exocet6951 replied to Gulyabani's topic in General Discussion
The only nerf the ship received was in form of the Bayern and it's " **** you I overmatch" 380mm guns. It wouldn't so bad, but those damn things are extremely popular, and require very precise aiming to get anything more than a bounce and overpen. Aiming isn't what a Dunkek does. -
But did you have to make the catapult spawn further than the max range of BBs and CAs, and behind DDs? EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH I've had started the same way: one to three DDs head straight into the escort cap, first catapult spawns, no one has the range to kill it, the escort ship loses 20k hp if it catches on fire The average player just isn't capable of thinking more than 3 seconds into the future, and endurance missions with a crowd like that is a guaranteed frustration..
-
I know, right. But wait, it gets better. USS Phoenix:
-
I figure it's either grinding for a ship with absolutely no serious aspect to it, or finish getting the Moskva. The Moskva is probably better, with it's balancedtm guns. But there's just something about having the fast firing guns in the game that's fun. That's what I want.
-
3 games to test the 3 ships, 3 defeats. Here's the rundown of the average game: 3 DDs rush to go in the Transylvannia circle, making it move too fast for the St Louis and Nassaus to be in range of the the first catapult, so Transylvannia loses 20% HP. 1 Naussau camps behind, one DD YOLO rushes and dies. 2 St Louises pew pew at everything with HE, but that's not fast enough to kill hordes of Mikasas. Finally you get to Rasputin, you have 4 ships left, with only 1 DD on 20% hp because Mikasas spawned on the other none-rushing DD and killed it. There are catapults and Mikasas setting you on fire left and right, you're hopelessly looking at your repair party timer, trying to repair a second triple, a previous one that you already repaired not 30 seconds prior. Rasputin then just mops up the survivors with fire damage alone, if Transylvannia isn't already dead by then. The game mode would be MUCH easier if we had 2 more teammates, to account for the fact that 2-3 teammates are suicidal idiots who decide that torpedoes aren't shot, but rather hand delivered to the enemy ships.
-
True, true, and I wasn't exactly planning on blowing 10k xp that would better be served getting the Minotroll faster
-
Well damn, I spent 20k xp upgrading to the type 93 torpedoes on the Ibuki on the off chance I'd get the Fubuki one day for nothing I remember a few ships of that line having pointless upgrades, yeah. A few IJN ships have slight upgrades for rather large costs, but this is taking it to the next level. There must be a hidden stat that makes it better. The Neptune has a very similar problem too, so it can't just be an xp dump, they would have made guns researchable, or hull/FCS more expensive. This is a deliberate choice they made twice, it has to have more than 400-900 extra damage.
-
Nope, that's on the Leander. Fiji starts out with 8, and the upgraded torps only show one change: +400 damage.
-
One thing I don't get is the "upgraded" torpedoes on the Fiji. Over 10k xp to get 400 more damage. Is there a hidden stat making it worthwhile? If not, what's the point? Unlocking the Edinburgh unlocks those torpedoes, as they're the latter's stock torps.
