0.6.0 Public Test 0.6.0 Feedback - New Skill System
Exocet6951 replied to Hobbes_95's topic in Archive
And how exactly are you doing with the stronk HE spammers? 35% WR on Atlanta 41% WR on NO 40% on Pensacola Maybe we should take your advice and only play with AP to have a glorious 27% WR on our cruisers, like you and the Kirov? How about the super duper HE spam USN DDs? 35% WR and 12k average damage with the Farragut. Oh please, stop carrying so much with strong fire spamming. Meanwhile, on your poor UP BBs: 44-56% WR Which would be unimpressive, but considering you have 45% average WR, that's actually higher than average for you. -
To be honest, it died the day the NC showed up. 140mm guns firing AP could still be passable on the quite damn agile Nagato on a lower tier than sees lightly armored tier6-7 CA/CLs, but the much less maneuverable Amagi on a higher tier? Nah. The NC's 5 twin 127mm mounts per side have always been better in my opinion.

WG fix how 'chat reports' are being handled as current system is broken
Exocet6951 replied to mtm78's topic in General Discussion
In all seriousness, I have no idea how their system works, but they would be completely out of their minds if there wasn't a simple list check and report threshold/report weight system to take into account the validity. Then again, the CV UI is something straight out of the early 90's, so you never know how low WG's standards could stoop. -

Then how do you expect DDs (hell, even cruisers) to damage BBs? Torpedoes? With the amount of planes, hydro, radar, the ridiculously high torpedo detection range that can be further boosted by both captain skills and modules? Fires and HE is the one RELIABLE weapon non-BBs have. Why remove it because it (subjectively) requires less skill than AP? -

But...but... How will I speak my limited German, and count piles of wood ingame if you ban those words? "Die ist ein sehr gut kartoffel !" And "I chopped so much wood today, I could easily bundle up at least 15 fagots!" -
Izumo. I thought I'd hate every moment of her. She's not stellar, but the guns are punchy, the accuracy is rather good, and her armor can be made to work pretty well. And the Takao. I loathed the Myoko's pyramid turret arrangement for it's inflexibility, and I always found the IJN CAs' torpedoes to be annoying to use. Then comes along the Takao/Atago which solves both problems. Quick turning turrets and forward firing torpedoes? Yes please.

So DDs shouldn't counter BBs now?Is that what I'm reading right now? -

Unfortunately it's also related.Thank the new fire prevention skill, which is quite probably as broken as RDF. Not so much at lower tiers, but as soon as you hit tier9, you start seeing armored decks completely absorbing 152mm HE and lower, and in some cases, even 203mm HE. Remove one fire spot on the superstructure, and you basically murder the gunboat potential of some DDs. -
On that note, it's relatively important to consider that later french BBs and projects made extensive use of 100mm DPAA, and in the most obvious choices for tier9 and 10 ships, even 152mm DPAA. It's worth noting that the French post-war 100mm gun fitted to the Jean Bart (Richelieu class) fired slightly lighter shells than the Japanese and Russian 100mm guns, but at a faster rate, so we're probably looking at some very good long range AA. And the 152mm DPAA, while disappointing IRL, were only so because of mechanical issues. Those tend to just be waved off, like the ones on the Kirov's notoriously bad dispersion and loading speed, and in a future example, the RN's KGV class quad turrets basically always breaking. So potentially some rather decent AA values from those too. Having manual AA and manual secondaries could make for extremely well rounded ships in terms of defense. But that's purely speculative right now. As of today, I would still go for manual AA because you need every little bit of help to AA in case there's a carrier. Manual secondaries is in my opinion a bad choice because of the terrible accuracy and the fact that you can never really have a lot of firepower in one given direction. Either you show the three back turrets (12 guns) and can't fire your main guns nor side turrets, or you angle and you can only show two back turrets and a side turret (10 guns) It's just not that much, all things considered.

I seriously don't understand this game anymore...
Exocet6951 replied to cro_pwr's topic in Aircraft Carriers
What I seriously don't understand is how WG could have failed that hard at making the UI. Basic click and drag and control groups are things that existed in RTS games 20 years ago. I am downright refusing to play CVs until I'm able to select more than one unit at a time and give a group order. -

The Prinz Eugen, a ship with extremely potent 8 inch gun didn't even bother firing armor piercing shells at battleships. As soon as it was in range, it slung high-explosives shells at both the Hood and Prince of Wales. So keep that "historical accuracy" thing to a minimum, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. There are plenty of examples of cruisers standing up to battleships, firing HE. Much the same that there are plenty of examples of destroyers fending off battleships, especially at night when the latter had to rely on radar, which worked in favor of destroyers' small profile. PS: The Prinz Eugen hit BBs with a handful of HE shells and started two fires. Hell, even HE shells in this game are nerfed compared to IRL. -
?% chance for getting super-container
Exocet6951 replied to Hades_warrior's topic in General Discussion
I'm at about 90 TYL without any supercontainers. I'd go for the others, but honestly free stuff is free stuff, and this is just an experiment in statistics/human stubborness on my part now. I know full well that I'll get a super container at one point, and it'll be 250 garbage flags. Probably +50% commander XP. I already have over 1500 now. -
patch. 6.0 is a massive battleship buff, nerf to the rest.
Exocet6951 replied to gizaman's topic in General Discussion
They're really not. All you have to do is look at the lock threads in the archive to see the endless stream of "fire OP, DDs OP, Torpedoes OP, CVs OP" threads. And with the current patch, they're too busy having a great big laugh to care about 10-20 seconds extra cooldown time on the damage control party. I know I am. -
Invisifiring - A simple solution.
Exocet6951 replied to ApesTogetherStronK's topic in General Discussion
Perfect, then we all agree. Nerf BBs so they don't massively outrange other ships. -
And every 7.5 seconds, he's eating 6x3300 damage with no damage mitigation.

I could have sworn I heard the Minotaur I just killed call out my name in fury as I bow tanked him and finished him off with 12 citpens with a Chapayev. I even torpedobeat the poor bugger. Russian supermodel cruiser are too skinny for filthy imperialist pigdog torpedoes. Here, let me give you a lesson on how to stop a Minotaur. Step 1) point bow towards him Step 2) try not to count the bounces, you'll lose count Step 4) there is no step 3, you're already countering it
-
Interestingly enough, I just saw an Iowa do that. Turns out it works. People think you're obviously too pro, and aim at others instead.
-
The point is that a useless top tier CA/CL is a lot less harmful to the team than even a bottom tier useless BB. Which further begs the question why garbage behavior innate to DDs and CAs are nerfed and stomped patch after patch, yet that BB problem which has been present from the start is still running rampant despite having ruined more games than 20km blanket torpedo walls, tierX CV lolrape and invisible HE spam combined?
-
Because sometimes, TWELVE guns with more penetration and three times the damage than even TierX cruisers, on a ship with enough hp and armor to tank top tier BBs with a bit of skill is the difference between victory and defeat.
-
Because of balancedtm turtleback armor, getting citadels is incredibly difficult. If you aim at the waterline, your shells won't manage to overmatch the sloped armor and will either bounce or deal a regular penetration. The only reliably way to get citadel penetrations on German ships past tier6 is to either aim below the turrets, or hope they start turning, revealing a part of the hull(the red part) that's normally underwater, and isn't as well protected. Or if your gun is large enough, it's possible to overmatch the sloped turtleback armor on German cruisers or even just hit below the waterline and citpen the ship there. It helps to have some distance so your shells plunge a bit.

I asked myself the same question. It turns out that it increases the chance of flooding. So instead of causing flooding 80% pf the time, you'll do it 85% of the time. Just don't get it, waste of xp.
