why does russia get cold war era ships

It doesn't matter in the slightest what year a ship was built, only its capabilities. Which is why the (1915) Fuso is at the same tier at the (1943) Independance, and the (1948) Des Moines at the same tier as the (1941 redesign of a 1935-built ship) Zao. If we only used service/design date, then we'd see Kongos, New Mexicos and even Amagis clubbing tier3-4 CLs. Bismarck, North Carolina, and Yamato at the same tier clubbing the same-tiered Bogue and Zuiho, while the Lexington enjoyed feasting on pre-WII superdreadnoughts.

    WG make me understand

Months is recent. 7 months ago were german BBs, for reference. So you think the people that are more versed in naval warfare history will be more attracted to the class of ship that had a 30 year period of existence from 1908 until the 1930's before being completely phased out by CVs, which are still today the ultimate source of strength and global power projection for a navy? Then what about people who know nothing of naval warfare you say? Here's the thing though, when people start out a game, and they have the choice between a light class, a medium class, a heavy class, and a special class (DD, CA/CL, BB, CV respectively), more people will try out the medium class first, as they're a good compromise to let them know the game a bit better. What WG has done is spectacular, they actually broke that rule by making BBs so ridiculously attractive compared to the other ships that instead of having a nice 20-40-30-10 disposition that would be expected, you have over 40% of players playing BBs. And you'd think that DDs would run rampant to counter that, but it turns out that no, except at higher tier where there's still the Kebab, Gearing and co. to counterbalance it, DDs are played as much as CAs. So what you have in reality, in a single average match is a 15-30-40-5 disposition. That's not only breaking gaming convention, but absolutely not healthy for a single class to almost outnumber both its counterclass and class it counters combined. And that 40% is only because there's a soft cap of 5 BB per side per match. I'm certain that if it weren't there, we would see 6 or 7 per side regularily. If you truly think that that's healthy for a game, be my guest, but personnally, I'm not long for this game if they keep hand holding the same class. I've said since the second beta weekend that this was a problem that could show up if they were not careful. But as of right now, I'm almost certain that WG marketing sniffed out some good milking opportunity and got their greedy little noses firmly in the game development cycle. Some of the recent decisions reek of a suit not giving a single **** about the game and making decisions for the dev team. And before you say "tinfoil hat", may I remind you that the producer of the game overrules the dev team, and something like that happening in the gaming industry is common.

    WG make me understand

It's reasonable to not ask people (like me) to play like unicums, constantly playing at 100%.But come on, at one point there's a difference between chilling out with a beer playing casually, and doing what some of the average players do. I don't think it's too much to ask of a grown adult, however tired from work he is, to at least glance at the minimap once per match and now launch his 4km range torpedoes at targets 17km away. I've been playing WG games for the past 7 years, and the average players on this game are by far the worst in terms of critical reasoning and spatial awarness, from my point of view.

    WG make me understand

Considering 8 months ago they said that BBs survived too much, were too numerous and won too much, then they decided to release German BBs and stomp on pretty much all the other classes with RPF and the new idiotic fire prevention skill that will effectively reduce fires by 33%, and probably remove stealth fire, and that WG recently change the game URL title header to "a game about battleships" (google world of warships if you don't believe me) it's safe to say that his opinion is more and more factual. It's simple marketing: battleships attract more new players because their big, massive, powerful [edited]compensators attractive ships. You want to milk those players, and for that to happen, they need to stay. Since making them learn to play is beyond human possibility, considering the intellect of the average player in battle, nerfing the **** out of everything that presents even a slight challenge to a BB is the simpler option.
  6. Considering tier6 matches are reasonably fast paced, and over in 12 minutes, while tier10 matches tend to see things like Fletchers pew pew'ing from smoke, CAs lobbing shells over islands, Yamatos bow camping at 20km, I'm going to go ahead and declare tier6 matches and the like much more engaging.

    WG 2017 plans

Considering you have to actually look for those, while you can just head over to any French or Italian branch discussion and see butthurt Italians, my hostility is justified, yes. I was just as hostile to RN fanboys, who used the same buzzwords such as "deserve" "historical importance" "actions during the war". Both are despicable.

    WG 2017 plans

You should head over to the "Italian fan made tree" thread, then come back. The amount of filth in there about the French, and the butthurt is phenomenal. Italian fanboys are almost as bad as British fanboys right now, and it's devastating since I would have loved to see a Italian CA line this year, but now I'd rather just not just in spite.
  9. Exocet6951

    Fan made Italian tech tree

Maybe, just maybe because there's a French subforum, but no Italian one. So Italian fans just gather on the English subforum ?

    Best ships per tier

And a ****ing radar. That's not a negligeable detail to overlooked. Extremely potent guns that have some great plunging effect, the second or third best AA in game, great bow tanker, good flexing because of the speed... The only reason the Iowa isn't higher in stats is because potatoes get greedy and try to use that rear turret.

    Can you shoot torps?

If that BB was shooting at torpedoes, than he was new at the game and didn't know if he could or not. As far as torpedo bombers go they have an arming distance, a minium distance the torpedoes have to travel before being active. It's easily obversable on CVs, as the torpedoes are active only when they little green symbol appears. Before that, they're in the water but will disappear without exploding if they hit an object. That's to prevent CVs from dropping unavoidable torpedoes a few meters away from ships.
  12. Exocet6951

    Can you shoot torps?

It's not possible, no. People can try to shoot torps if they like, but torpedoes simply aren't affected by any form of damage. EDIT: As said above, if you meant can BBs fire torpedoes, then a very, very limited selection of them can.

BBs with inertia Fuse - Dead Cruisers?

That's not how it works. HE doesn't have a timed fuze. When it hits, it goes boom. No delay, no penetration, just explosion. The "penetration" is the amount of armor the explosion has to go through to deal damage. That's why you can shoot a 25mm plate of armor with a 152mm HE round and bounce all day. The explosion just isn't strong enough. In short, currently a citpen with HE at high tiers is unlikely, as most cruisers have not only a 100-140mm plate of armor over the citadel, but also a hull plating on top. Very rare are the cruisers with only visible citadel plating. Give the HE shells 30% more pen, and suddenly that "penetration" is sufficient to defeat both the hull and citadel plating. And yes HE citpen is much lower, but if it's reliable, a couple of guaranteed 4k citpens plus chances of fire is much better than an overpen here and there, maybe a regular pen and the rest bounces on the angled armor of a cruiser. Because again, HE shell could hit at a 89.9999 degree angle and still go off. At least according to our exterior-off-source-code understanding of it.

BBs with inertia Fuse - Dead Cruisers?

For some reason that baffles me, German BB HE gets 1/4th of the shell's caliber as HE penetration. The reason that it's not as well known is that BBs only shoot HE at another BB when the latter bow tanks, and there's really no way to citpen with HE that way. Even if you get a side shot with HE on a BB, there's really none past maybe tier3 with citadel plating directly exposed, so even then it's not possible. On cruisers however... Shoot a Mogami or Ibuki's citadel with the FDG or Currywurst's HE, and you're very likely to citpen. The extra 30% to penetration might be enough to shoot hull plating over citadel armor and still get citpens though, and that's a concern since HE doesn't give a care in the world about impact angle or line of sight armor.

BBs with inertia Fuse - Dead Cruisers?

It doesn't.The Yamato would only be able to do so if you round up the "penetration" from 99.67mm to an even 100mm (which I doubt it does) The only ones truly benefitting from the skill are CLs with 152mm guns which will finally be able to deal damage to 25mm armor plating, the Akizuki which will finally be able to use HE, and German BBs which will all have over 120mm of HE "penetration", save for the 305mm armed ones which will "only" have 99mm, the same as the Yamato, because German BBs are totally balanced and also needed special HE.

    BB nerfs in 0.6.00

Oh please, every single change to the game provocks the same reaction "I KEMP MORE WITH BB NAO" Changes to cruiser overpen = "I KEMP MORE" Changing overmatch rules so BBs can't bow tank = "I KEMP MORE" Reverting the previous change = "BOW CAMPING STILL REIGNING SUPREME, I KEMP MORE NAO" 10 seconds extra cooldown to the premium damage control, and 10 seconds less cooldown on the regular one, couple with basically a 33% net decrease in fires = "I KEMP MORE!!!" ****ing BBabies. It's gotten to a point where I can yolo rush in the fat cow that is the Izumo and torpedobeat 2 enemy DDs, tanking all the HE and still take down a cruiser or two.

    ?% chance for getting super-container

After 95 TYL containers, I finally got a SC. 250 speed flags. EDIT: First normal container in the long backlog of unopened containers, anti-explosion flags. "There is no risk of explosion" Yes there is WoWS, yes there is.
  20. I'm saying that it has no reason to be buffed. It's a unique ship that sacrifices a lot of enormous main guns. And that ship also has some of the best torpedoes a cruiser can have in the game because reasons. It also have a great hydro, and its AA isn't mediocre, it's above average. It has enough going for it. I don't see why buffing crappy secondaries is necessary. It would be like giving an extra 5 seconds of fire/flooding immunity on the damage control party on a CV. If you need to rely on that in the first place, you're in a pretty bad spot in the battle. If the Spee turns out to be underperforming, it should have its strengths tweaked, not its weaknesses buffed to remove the weakness. And if they start buffing her randomly and she starts overperforming, I'm well afraid they'll nerf the one overlooked uberstrength: its massively powerful torpedoes.
  21. If they buff the secondaries, they'll nerf the torpedoes. Please don't make them nerf the torpedoes. They're hilariously fun. Much better than two twin 105mm DPAA secondaries, and four potato launching garbage 150mm secondaries that wouldn't be useful even with 7km base range, per side. She's lovely as is. +1km range on bad secondaries won't save you from a very determinated DD. Also, like on all German ships with the 105mm AA guns, get manual AA. You're better than the Aoba and Budyonni without it, and you beat the Molotov's AA suite with it activated. That's better than average.

[edited] He's using the same argument as you. Exactly the same. You're using that chart to talk about the top10 (arbitary number), he's using it to compare the top 3(again, arbitrary) The fact is that you suck with OP HE spammers, and even your examples of fires being OP show you dealing less than 1/5th of a BB's total damage. FULLY REPAIRABLE. Time and time again, WG has been nerfing every weapon used against BBs. They started with AP Then they nerfed HE a bit They murdered CVS They murdered torps They uberbuffed BB maneuverability just to make sure They nerfed torps some more They added a branch of ships whose only HE vulnerability is the superstructure They butchered the IJN DD torpedoboats And finally, they're planning on driving the stake to the heart by not only ****stomping HE, but also removing stealthfire. And you're planning nerfing fires to the ground al well? Hey, here's a fun test, if spamming HE is so easy, take a light cruiser or a DD, and spam HE on a BB. Don't count the fire damage, but count the actual HE damage. You will bounce 80% of the shells, and that's really not an exageration. [edited]

Public Test 0.6.0 Feedback - New Skill System

Actually it does. If someone with crappy stats in a type of ship is going aound saying "This type of ship is extremely OP and broken", it undermines their entire argument. It's not a superiority complex, it's common sense. I prefer my stats to yours, because not only do I play the ships I want to play, and do so trying to playing the way I want to play without tryharding, but I'm reasonably successful at it too. And that's infinitely more prideful than being terrible at ships you claim are OP, and still rave on in the forums about how OP they are. Fire prevention is yet another skill designed to extract the maximum amount of money from morons who can't be bothered to view anything that's not another battleship as being a threat, then goes on the forums to complain when something DARES to damage their precious, ridiculously overbuffed scrubwagons. And the devs are doing at the expense of the rest of the game.
