As if...arming distance for subs was 300m, ships were probably similar, but aerial torpedoes had very short arming times with some US torpedoes arming within 50m of traveling through water. People would be BEGGING for the current rules to be put back ingame if historically realistic arming distances were implemented.

It's "only" 30% , and even then debatable as some of the paper concepts were re-applied to ships actually built. But it's funny that people always fall back to the good old "It's paper russians!", but fail to concede that the German branch, out of 32 ships, has 7-9 paper ships (unsure if Z-46 and Z-52 were built or not), which is really pushing it to "Russian paper" levels of fantasy designs.

Are american ships better than others?
Exocet6951 replied to Legend1466's topic in General Discussion
I highly disagree on your conclusion. Yes Iowa is softer, even against HE and low caliber AP, however, just because of the Yamato's impressive presence and massive damage potential at any range, I find she's focused as a priority target by literally everything. And rightly so, as a Yamato is a much more dangerous enemy than an Iowa thanks to those lol-overmatch guns of hers. -
Ranked will be dominated by these two ships.....

True, but it is longer, so the top down surface is higher. The enemy Saipan only has to get lucky once. You have to get lucky very every single one of his bombs. Every little percentage helps when dealing with those 1000lbs bombs. In that respect, I found the Blyska to be less at risk from Saipans in the previous tier7 season. I would only get hit by one bomb, while my Kiev would routinely get hit by 2. Again with the rudder...What is it with you and rudders? No DD at that tier has a rudder turn time and turn radius low enough to dodge crap,so arguing about a half second and 20m here and there is utterly meaningless.I found Blyska to be less at risk due to a slightly smaller size, and overall a less chunky build. -

Ugh, this is like talking to a brick wall...Auto-drop doesn't give a **** about rudder speed or turn radius. When the DBs engage their drop, only the smallest DDs with the fastest rudders and smallest turn radius can hope to dodge bombs. And even then, it's a stretch. The Leningrad is huge, and I saw it countless times as Kievs lost 10-12k hp in the first minute of the match, spotted by a DB squadron and hit by one or two bombs. That rudder speed won't save the Leningrad. To use your own words, "I don't think you have ever used a large Soviet DD in tier7 ranked" I have. -

Well for one she's huge and has more chances to get hit. Saipans were much less of a problem in my Blyska than in my Kiev, which is extremely similar to the Leningrad in terms of speed and agility. -

If there are as many Saipans as the last tier7 season, Leningrads will quickly be replaced by Blyskas. 9 plane Saipan DB squadrons can melt steel beams Stalin ships. Still absolutely certain that we'll see Shiny Horse, Blyska, Saipan and probably Belfasts as top picks. Secondary picks? The poor man's version of those same ships, Gneisenau, Mahan, Hiryu and either Fiji or Myoko. -
TL;DR : "BBs Up, pls buff"

what playing the Yamato taught me about the high tier BB meta
Exocet6951 replied to anonym_gxxGX7KaxQVa's topic in General Discussion
If that were really the case, you'd see CVs being given as much love ingame BBs. Yet... -
Oh my god, the high school physics in this thread is real. If the situation described by the OP and two immobile ships shooting at each other were physically the same, you would HAVE to consider that either they're in a perfect vacuum or that the shell fired is an immovable object that's in the same physical system as the ship that fired it, ie: physically connected to the ship by rigid, unbreakable, undeformable connection.

Feck new the rules, When are the subs coming into the game
Exocet6951 replied to T3000UK's topic in Archive
The thread is stupid anywas. Thread hijack operation commencing! Post subs! -
One person said something stupid in game, someone posts it in the forum, and all the sudden the EU is a culture-destroy elitist facist state that dictates everyone's way of life and lodges itself in our lifes through propaganda. This is why we can't have nice things.

Oh yes, poor BBs were not unrealistically uberbuffed like the rest. Because we all know those mighty 50k ton ships could accelerate to max speed in a mere kilometer, and could pull off maneuvers to let them easily slalom through islands. Their accuracy was also well known to be in the mid 20% , just like it is in game, and their AA almost always enough to deter enemy airstrikes alone.

Doesn't really change the fact that they were BOTH available in a given battle of the historical gamemode. As were stock ISUs and IS-2s for the Russians. The result? 8 JTs and Tiger 2s vs 10-12 ISUs. Historical battles. Much History Such battles Wow In this game, it would be even worse, seeing as some nations aren't even fully fleshed out. KM vs RN? Everyone would queue in as Bismarcks, and no one on the British side would have any choice other than the highest tier CL they have. USN vs IJN ? Everyone would want to play Yamato or Iowa, no one would want to play USN cruisers, since it's Historical battles, the highest tier cruiser would be the Mogami/Atago, and good luck hunting down scores of Fletchers in those. And absolutely no one would want to play the lower tier ships, because **** using a Tenryu or Kuma to fight tier7-9 ships. So you would have 8 Iowas and 4 Fletchers fighting 6 Yammies, 5 Atagos and one poor soul in a Fubuki who misclicked and wanted to play Atago.

Imagine that, a missile that doesn't detonate properly, and still sets fire to a ship and sinks it. Oh the tears in WoWS.A DD is hit? Literally torn in half. RIP. But all jesting aside, I named myself after the flying fish, the numbers afterwards came from a drunken evening frustrated as the nickname was already taken and I needed to tack on digits at the end. In my drunken maturity, I picked those glorious numbers. One for a famous booze where I live, the other is quite self-explanatory

Wonderful for me. No roommate home so I got up late, stayed in my underwear all day, served myself a nice glass of fine whisky in the evening... ... Oh you mean on the game? Yeah I'm not into hardcore S&M, so I would rather not play on weekends anymore.

Played one game of stealth reliant IJN DD, the Shiratsuyu. Moved up a bit, "spotted" through RPF, then saw the business end of a Kiev on his way to hunt me down,no amount of smoke or mind games could save me. It turns out that a 34 knot ship (39-ish with flag and speed boost) can't outrun a 42 knot ship 10/10 match, would lulz again

I believe it's something along the lines of: "My stronk phallus compensator battleship was destroyed by a destroyer's torpedoes. Unrealistic. BBs stronkest ships. I'm leaving the game now"
-
How are you so incredibly thick?
-
That's the ****ing point. They're unrealistical easy to hit from an IRL perspective, yet hard enough to hit from a gameplay perspective. Yet we basically never see threads open about how much more difficult DDs should be to hit, while there are scores of threads every week about how obviously super weak BBs are.
-
Funny how this type of thread is always opened in order to favor BBs We never get threads asking to improve DDs' ability to not get hit, or CAs' max range.
-
406s have faster reload, higher penetration at ranges of below 20km and will overmatch everything 420s will. There is really no reason to use the 420s over the 406s

He posted a thread on how world of warplanes and world of warships could be fused together, motivated by War Thunder's recent addition of PT boats.People told him why it's just not feasible in the scope of this game because of the size of the ships, while it is in WT. Obviously that means people don't like him and he can't ever go on the forums ever again.
