You're either pink or you're not, but there are differnet reasons to be pink, hence why a blanket punishment of keeping all pink people out of ranked is foolish. You can't apply the same punishment to a serial TKer and to someone who made one mistake in one game. That's what I considered stupid and arbitrarily binary.

Still not comparing the ships, only the guns. And you STILL haven't adressed the fact that an 14" gun would overpen tier8-10 ships less than an 16" one. As far as basically everyone can see, you're still the one waving off every single argument with the same catch-phrase "but 14" too weak!!!" Because apparently, having 700mm of penetration at 0m is now considered weak.

Actually, I have.You claim the only reason that it can't be tier8 is because the guns are too weak. I postulate that guns that work on tier8 to tier10 with at best half the penetration of a 14" gun actually manage to deal damage to both BBs and CAs, then that 14" gun isn't as weak as you make it out to be. And that's evidenced by the fact that a Fuso or New Mexico in a tier8 match can still deal some massive damage. And that's on 20-24 knot ships with lower accuracy and lower armor. And lo and behold, you haven't at all adressed the point on how smaller guns could mean less overpens. How shocking.

At a tier where a Hipper with 8" AP can deal some serious damage, a 14" gun is considered too weak. Always fun putting things back into context. Funny how the overmatch argument is used, but not the AP fuse arming distance. So you won't be able to overmatch that one cruiser, so what? As soon as he turns, he's so much wider than tier 5-6 CA/CLs that those 14" just won't overpen as much. And boom, just like that you turn a con into a pro. Trading unreliably overmatches on cruisers that are doing their best to sail in a straight line from your position for more reliable damage when they're not facing you.

Out of your 8 examples, 6 are covered in my "high tier IJN DD" exception, which is a valid request considering that the only thing IJN DDs have is the one trick pony that is the F3 torpedo. Furthermore, only one isn't about DDs globally, but about balance of specific ships/balance, to the contrary of blanket statements of BB threads, demanding everything that hurts them to be nerfed. So no, not even remotely comparable. The only other class that comes close to the amount of threads begging for buffs/changes to the entire class as a whole is CVs, and that's compltely understandable considering the idiotic state of CVs.

On the first 5 pages of result, the ONLY thread about a global DD problem was one about BB AP doing too much damage to DDs. The rest were either general discussion, or threads about the point of IJN DDs at higher tiers and threads about German DDs' purpose altogether. Valid threads I might point out. Tried the same thing, but with "battleship" The result? Predictable. "BB need rebalance" (read buffs) "BBs nerfed by IFHE!!" "What's the point of BBs?" (asking for buffs) "Next patch is a BB nerf!" (refering to new skills) "Why is there a cap on BBs? Remove it!" (lulz) "make tierX BBs like Yamato better!" (my favorite) At the same time, I saw plenty of threads about the amount of BBs per game and how dominating they are. It's funny how one class can be the focus of so many threads...

What I'm criticizing is this thread having an idiotic take on pink people, making every single pink player out to be raving lunatics who should be locked away. In my example, I made one small mistake that cost someone a third of their hp without killing them, turning me pink. Yet I also managed to score top dog in damage, xp and capping in that match. I agree to a form of punishment for it, though I'm criticizing turning pink over only that. But banning me from ranked because of it? Stupid measure backed by people with a complete black and white take on any given situation.

Yes you do. Single torpedo, 3k damage, didn't even kill the guy. The only previous team damage was the occasional 20 or-so ram damage in the day, and someone who brushed up against me in smoke and got hit by one HE shell a few day prior. That's less than 4k damage of team damage in a month, and somehow warrants a teamkiller status. And I apologized to the person, seeing as I didn't think it possible for a friendly well AHEAD of me, only 3km away to do a full 180 degree turn and get hit by a torpedo salvo. But hey, apparently small mistakes are not allowed and here is no middle ground. You're either not pink, or you're a huge teamkilling scumbag who wants to kill his entire team and deserves to only play PvE. A binary thoguht process I would only attribute to school children and the naive riding high horses.

This thread is stupid, accidents happen. I happen to be pink at the moment because a 7km, 50 knot torpedo is very slow, and a friendly destroyer 3km away and well ahead of you doing a 180 turn is always a possibility. Doesn't mean I can't be useful in ranked.

No mister smartass, your opinions on game and class balance are disregarded when you have SEVENTY FIVE percent of your 2400 battles in one class, to the point where you've only reached tier6 in 100-200 battles in each of the other classes. It has nothing to do with you only being a slightly above average player, only with you playing the crushing majority of your battles with BBs, and trolling for buffs on it. To make matters even worse, you're been playing NINETY percent BBs over the past 6 months. You had had EIGHTEEN battles in a non-BB ship in the past 6 months. How the **** do you expect to be objective on class balance when that's the case? You don't even play them for crying out loud. Stop making yourself out to be the martyr when in fact people don't like or respect your opinion because you're just an incredibly biased person asking for a handouts for the only class of ships he plays.

Average BB shell damage at tier5 : around 10k Average DD hp at tie5 : around 12k hp Your solution would have DDs deleted in a single salvo if it hits at the slightest non-overpen angle. This was tested back in CBT, and DDs died basically instantly. I assumed he meant that DD citadels would have an additional penetration check or something that would make it more common that a regular pen.

Just to give the OP some context, I spent my last match as a Donskoi with IFHE and DE firing HE at a Bismarck. It took 127 HE shells and 7 fires to bring him down on my end, and as many as what my ally in a Maass managed to do as well. And out of those 127 hits total, guess how much actual non-fire damage I did? 40k A bit over half the total HP a tier8 BB has. A properly captained BB with good fire control can survive an entire SIX minutes and literally hundreds of HE hits. Maybe, just maybe if you're getting wrecked by fires, you need to look at your own gameplay. In short: STOP TRYING TO MAKE BBs INVULNERABLE Jesus ****ing christ, you people are making the game a hellish bore-fest. I'm absolutely positive that every damn new BB line from now on will have armor plating just thick enough to stop HE shells, even with IFHE, jsut to make sure people liek you aren't too challenged by non-master race ships.

It does sound enticing, but it would make the ship enormous and 16 guns with a relatively quick reload might make it just too strong against aboslutely everything. The HE spam on that thing would be nothing short of legendary, and AP overpens on DDs would do more damage than what most BBs can do with an HE salvo. I think just like RN tierX BB, WG is going to go the safe and uncontroversial road and do something bland for the French tierX.

It completely survived both times! They just couldn't be bothered to fix a leak that occured during the first test, due to radiation concern, and just let the poor lady sink after months of taking on water. What a ship.

Indeed, the current tierX French contenders have either 3x3x450mm, 3x4x406mm, or 4x4x380mm All the options are valid, though all are arguably too strong or redundant
