Carriers, don't keep sending your planes...

I had the opposite experience in my last match. A low HP Des Moines got killed by a stray DB that managed to slip by. That guy actually asked "Where is the AA cover? ****ing team" I barely had the heart to tell him that he was the AA cover TL;DR : Des Moines weak AA, needs Donskoi and Mogami AA cover to survive stronk Shokaku attack. /sarcasm

Roma - Tier VIII Premium Italian BB suggestion

I don't believe that's completely true. After all, there are more people in the English community in WoT, and yet, French tanks came out before English tanks. Same on WoWP, Spitfires and the likes are much more well known in Europe, and yet they came out later than Japanese planes, simply because Japanese planes offered a unique, extremely maneuverable concept that complemented the game's variety. So much so that it came at release, while even extremely well known Russian planes had to wait for 2 years to be implemented. Marketing isn't just catering to the biggest potential market, but it's also making sure your existing market gets fresh new content that keeps them interested. And for someone absolutely not versed in naval history, so not biased towards one nation over another, a branch of ships with a wider variety of different concepts is fresher content, more likely to keep him interested. And in that respect, French vehicles (at least tanks and ships) always have a very unique flair to them. That's a gold mine for marketing, more so than the national pride of two smaller European communities.

Roma - Tier VIII Premium Italian BB suggestion

I think it's mostly for the same reason as why French tanks came early in WoT, they just have some unique flairs. Italian ships are much more classical in their build, while some French ships are made to go at 43 knots (45 in trials), or have quad turrets all facing forward, or have 4x4 turret arrangment, and even in some cases AP shells with almost as big a bursting charge as an HE shell, leading to what may just be the first true SAP shells in the game. EDIT: Not sure how ships getting shot at in port is relevant to why they should be implemented afterwards. Are we using political reasons to implement ships sooner than later? Because if so, that would mean more trouble for the Italian branch than the French to be honest, which would be a shame.

The Under-performance of KM Armor Piercing

I can't talk for the DDs, but I have no complaints about AP performance on CA/CLs Especially not on the 203mm, which always feel on point. I even took the Konigsberg for a stroll on the test server, as it had been a long time since I had not played it, and not only was I pleasantly surprised to see her guns doing full 360 rotations, allowing for amazing combat maneuvering while still firing, but the guns felt as good, if not better than what I had remembered.

But you see, it is. You have said on multiple occasions that you would enjoy a "World of Battleship" Strange that you don't remember that... See my other post for the part about point and click, because apparently hoping for some critical thinking on your end was a fool's errand on my part. Mea culpa.

Carpet Bombing and Walls of Topedoes

I'm sorry, but are you manually calculating the elevation required to hit the target you are aiming at? Are you guns not automatically rotating to follow your target? Gunnery in WoWS IS point and click. You point at a point in space that's tied to your current locked target, and the game does everything else. Again you purposefully misunderstand, and completely avoid the rest of the post. Legit argumentation. I should try doing the same now. That'll be fun when you get frustrated and point it out.

Carpet Bombing and Walls of Topedoes

And yet you're ok with BBs with over 20km of range, with point and click ease of use and 30 second reload, that can also see and shoot over islands. How you can not see the massive double standards you hold for CVs compared to your favorite class is just laughable now.

Carpet Bombing and Walls of Topedoes

Everyone.CVs can scout, damage/kill lone targets that would otherwise take a while to kill, like a BB running away from 2-3 cruisers, and in some cases, even badly damage/kill a cruiser that could be a threat to a DD. CVs are outside the "rock paper scissor" cycle, can strike all three, and thus can benefit all three.

You guys are obviously just CV lovers. Part of the "cryser" plot to get more CVs in game and make BBs and DDs quit ! Gotta admit that was one of his best posts yet though, very imaginative. I r8 8/8 gr8 b8 m8

    Grozovoi or new Khabarovsk?

I haven't had a chance to play on the test server yet, but can the Grozo reasonably stealth torp ? ie: with a 1km margin, none of that "has a 0.3km stealth torp/margin" that's impossible to uphold in practice. If so, the Grozo will always be a compromise so less good than a gunboat at gunboating, but with other valuable attributes. If it can't, then the Grozo is just inferior. Period.

Carpet Bombing and Walls of Topedoes

Which is funny, because my view of things is also WG's view of things, considering that they consider that there are too many of them that survive for too long, clubbing cruisers who are not surving enough, or if they do, do so by abusing stealthfire and longest possible range. And look at you, trying to steer the subject away back to your (wrong) opinion that CVs are bad and should be removed. Sneaky sneaker. Why do I even bother answering your posts again?

Carpet Bombing and Walls of Topedoes

You caught me, I want to use my mighty IJN AA cruisers running with hydro instead of DF to really club those CVs. That'll show them. Watch your bootieholes Hakus and Taihos, my Takao's coming for you!

"CV lover" => 50 battles in CVs on my account, max tier5 That CV love tho But a person's stats, or background is important in a technical discussion. I value an electrical engineer's point of view more if I have an electrical problem than a professional dancer who electrocuted himself twice while turning on a toaster while in a bathtub. It gives context. And in this context, it's someone with the vast majority of his battles in battleships, and very little battles with DDs where he manages to do less than a quarter of a single torpedo's worth of damage at tier6 on average telling us that torpedoes are no skill OP weapons. As always, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but that opinion can be wrong. The sky isn't green because I think it is. And as always, your opinion is always just that, wrong.

Because guns have it too? When you point your guns at a target, it automatically calculates both horizontal and vertical firing solutions. You just have to lead the target manually, but the actually firing solution for that point in space in relation to your ship is done by the game. Torpedoes have exactly that. A calculated firing solution. The only difference is that guns don't get a perfect "put your cursor here to win" because shells don't take more than 15 seconds to reach a target in the worst possible case scenario, while apart from the 4km 65knot+ suicide torpedoes, most torpedoes have impact times of over 35 seconds, and lead distances of entire kilometers. While it would be workable without a lead indicator on ships like the Gneisenau that releases its torps at point blank range, it would be literally unplayable on DDs that rely on 10km torpedoes. Literally unplayable. DDs would only play with guns.

Carpet Bombing and Walls of Topedoes

I'll save everyone here the trouble: 40% WR in over 1600 random battles 82% BB 6.7k average damage with the OP no skill torpedo slinger that is the Umikaze Less than 4k average with the new tier6 Fubuki. But remember: torpedoes are OP and require no skill !

Roma tier 8 premium release confirmed 2017

Ingame Amagi is around 875mm at 0m The NC is below that by a good 50-75mm at 0m But that's ingame data, which might vary a bit from IRL specs. The good part of the Italian 381/50 is that it should bleed less penetration over distance, so even if it's a bit lower at 0m than the 16" guns of tier8, it should be similar at midrange, and a bit higher at longer ranges. So overall very similar penetration, basically the same overmatch capabilities, probably a bit lower damage, but damn...that velocity... That's going to make it easier to hit targets, so I suspect she will have above average damage compared to her peers.

My statement doesn't contradict that. The Amagi has higher penetration than the NC.

    Royal BB line

Tell me about it.Whereas the Nagato/Amagi secondary built in CBT without proper armor models was fun and powerful, nowadays, the anemic 140mm AP leaves the barrel with great difficult, and plonks harmlessly on most of the targets. To add insult to injury, the 140mm AP doesn't bleed enough speed over the 5-7km of distance to do anything other than overpen DDs, making them worthless against literally every target it can realistically face, CVs being maybe the exception. #MakeIJNSecondariesGreatAgain

Buffing the tier 10s (cruiser edition)

Oh god, I can just imagine the rage if the Minotaur got HE, and spec'd it with IFHE. "You are now on fire. And so are you. And so are you. Cheeky destroyer, here's some triple fire. Bet you haven't seen that before on a DD" Still, if I absolutely needed to buff some tierX CAs, I would pick a tougher bow and deck armor to prevent frontal overmatches and citpens. Except from the Yamato, because lol balance.
  22. Exocet6951

Roma tier 8 premium release confirmed 2017

From a bit of digging and some speculation, it's going to be roughly Amagi-level penetration at 0m, with apparently significantly less penetration bleed over distance. So that's quite damn good. If WG decides to be clement with the accuracy and take into account the high velocity of the shell to counterbalance the smaller bursting charge, it can turn out to be one of the best BB guns in the game, right after the Yammie's lolpen guns.

Roma tier 8 premium release confirmed 2017

On the plus side, much like French premiums, a lot of people will just go "lol surrender/switching side ship/tank/plane" and will ignore it in favor of another premium of the same tier. The Tirpitz comes to mind, with all that Werhaboo fame and all. My claim has absolutely no proof of validity, but you just know in your guts that it's true. Give a layman the choice between an Italian and a German WWII vehicle, and he will prefer German. Such a shame it is, especially on a naval game. Oh well, more exclusivity for the people who know about the ungodly fast shells Italian guns spew out
