General Submarines related discussions
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to YabbaCoe's topic in General Discussion
Well just in a one way street manner of speaking. We already have the ultimate just dodge class in the game which dodges everything by sitting in a corner of the map ^^ -
Don't know what to tell you man. BB's have the best ASW tool in the game :\ Submarines submerged speeds are pretty fast so catching up to one, passing it and dropping DC behind your ship is kind of a suicide mission. It takes too long and most of the time it's not worth losing the HP for it since most sub players are sub-par (pun intended). Also, DD's with forward launchers can't really tell where the DC's will land. It's a bit of a mess. The DC explosions look pretty cool though, both at surface level and submerged

When you get a mission to shoot down 30 planes in one match, no carrier to be seen in miles. Once you select another mission instead becous frustrating every match will have 2 carriers. Same for capture points etc. It's common knowledge here in the community.

Tier IX Neustrashimy: Why is it the most expensive and is it worth it?
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Its way way way way cheaper to get her for free ingame coal actually, so for anyone reading I would not follow up on above advise unless you own every ship except the neut ^^ -
Nope. The sub project is a massive budget gobbler and it will not be walked back. If anything they probably want to get it over with so they are looking to see what they can get away with. But make no mistake: the sunk cost fallacy is real for both the player base as well as producers at lesta and WG ^^

YouTubers usually dont mind posting videos about ships being crap as it is great clickbait. The ship cretainly isn't crap. I've played it a bit and if people can wrap their head around playing Edinburgh and enjoy having lots of toys they certainly will like Plymouth. I don't get the comparisons with Minotaur. For me these are different ships, much like Edin isn't a Fiji. By the way, why get a Stalingrad when you can have Petro? And if you have Smalald, Ragnar isn't much added value Still enjoyable from what I hear.

Even though some of the main offending issues are indeed adressed in the devblog, the main omission of fun and engaging counterplay will probably still remain. Tormenting cruisers like in the video I posted earlier will only take a bit longer, but still will be as painful as it currently is. In this particular example the lack of citadels would be comepensated by the 2 additional torpedoes that were about to hit him. The only thing that would have helped him is the planned range increase of tracking being lost on cruisers. I'm reposting it here since the original thread seems to have vanished.

What are u supposed to answer to this ?
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Ronchabale's topic in General Discussion
Currently my survey showed a definite resounding 'no' to both accounts when asked if subs are ready to be introduced as a permanent tech tree in the game or ANY of the game modes. They are not. As an example that is not about being balanced but being too gamey is the sub tactic sailing circles launching torpedoes aft and front at the exact same target. It completely destroys the immersion for me to the point of disinterest. As far as I can see, they won't be ready for pvp even after the next test despite some good changes being applied, simply because of the lack of being able to initiate meaningful counterplay in surface ships. Much like the carrier redesign, which in my eyes suffers from the exact same issue, counterplay is only preceived by Lesta as 'mitigating damage'. Not a meaningful exchange of damage and detection. We still don't have that. -

I am assuming subs will be in every game mode as they are already in half of them right now ^^ I actually would like subs to be succesful in pvp as long as they are have proper counterplay and are cool representation of sub warfare instead of a failed McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle underwater fighter sim only suitable for singleplayer games. As for subsub battles having a plce in pvp, I think it's nice in the same way RTS carrier gameplay was nice to watch when carrier fighters clashed into eachother overhead. Also, when subs duke it out with other subs they are completely absorbed by that, or should be, and everyone with ASW airstrikes get to have a say in it ^^ -

My take: Destroyes - uninteresting, cruisers - uninteresting, battleships - average and subs - interesting. Destroyers and cruisers completely fail in sub counterplay: there is no effective way to initiate dealing with a sub in most scenarios for those classes. I expected these two classes to excell at it, but ship launched DC combined with the subs underwater speed and detection advantage are a missed opportunity here. The level of 'counterplay' (and I use the term loosely here) for battleships was a bit better. I say this because I feel slow sluggish ships should be the main targets for submarines in the foodchain. The tools provided, the longer tracking cancellation ranges and the ASW airstrikes, are by far the best versions of the tools available. Using DCP to cancel tracking however, and the unlimted spamming nature of ping are by far of the worst versions. Now as for sub vs sub, I found that to be the most interesting part in the test. I recognised the role of the sub as the main sub hunter, if only even for keeping it spotted. I completely understand the torpedo tracking feature if it would be limited to sub vs. sub warfare. Tracking, chasing, detecting and fighting a sub in another sub was quite fun, especially when everybody and their mother drops ASW on the mini arena. -
I commend you for taking the hull closer to the fights by your own accord becasue that is what we would want to see built-in in a risk vs. reward design, but carriers have their own special place in most scenarios. Map corners.

Check his name :D -
There is absolutely zero reason to not give it airdrop like Lesta did with everything else that didn't have ship launched DC's. And adding this to that is just laughably bizarre and in bad taste. Stubborn for the wrong reason. Making subs underwater speedboats for gameplay reasons on one side and omitting ASW on 2 specific ships while giving everything else ASW airdrops because inspired by history so gameplay on those two ships. Why?

update 10.9. have too much different objectives I cannot have focus on all so I miss half
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to VedranSeaWolf359's topic in General Discussion
That's funny because I 'zoned out' as in not playing ^^ I lost interest in the mirad of convoluted events some time ago due to being overwhelmed and events being interlaced with payment options. My reaction was to simply shut down that side and focus on what I came here for: to have fun battles in fun ships. When it turned out that the battles were actually not that interesting most of the time due to crazy bad pvp design and a playerbase that is mostly focus on shiny things, I quickly realised this game basically has nothing going for it much other then pretty ships. -
All I do is play about 6 sub games total for 2 days and stop playing after that :(

I wonder how that works, 6750 crates? I know in the PC version the max number of crates you can collect and open is 100 at a time. Above that the system starts to glitch. ^^

I'm sure WG would make an exception for you especially and ban you a million times over :D

Actually it is a 'ban' and not a ban! ^^ Word is they will be compensated which is always nice :D

I wish I still did but I hardly do :(

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Is asked to explain how AA works after insinuating it knows how AA works. -
Because Lesta is still trying out concepts after 3 years in a game with automated AA that simply sucks as a feature and can't handle the different carrier designs.
