    Yes I did read, and it is what I adressed specifically, technically and unequivocally as a redefenition. Effectiveness is a main condition. If a class isn't effective against another class it can not be considered a counter to that class. The fact that in some circumstances BB's can play a succesfull counter to a BB doesn't make the BB class a counter, it acknowledges that in some circumstances a counter play can be made by the BB. As the game evolves these lines can get blurry somewhat in specific individual ships within a class, but the redesigned carrier concept failed to incorporate the very essence of pvp RPS class design. Saying everything can counter carriers if just given the right circumstances in a discussion about rock paper siccors game design mentioned in the article is quite odd. It's like saying water is wet.

    And apparantly you don't know your game because good luck avoiding carriers once they decided to focus you for whatever reason. A paragraph of nonsense. Every ship can kill every other ship within certain circumstances is what you are saying here, right? A new defenition of counters. BB's are the counters of destroyers. Cruisers are the counters to subs. Lol? Noice.

    The issue I have is not their lack of communication, it's their lack of good gamedesign. I commend them on being a less opaque party - and I fully appreciate how difficult and risky that will be for them. But the article either is partially BS or is a testaminial to some of their most stubborn delusions concerning their own capacity and understanding of gameplay. The release of hilariously broken subs in random after being 'tested' and 'evaluated' in ranked being case in point.

    Seriously, the worst thing you can do is jump in a DD to hunt subs lol. It's suicide, subs are simply too fast underwater rofl. The best class to be in when subs are in the game: BB. ^^

    I like how they share what they are doing and thinking. Kudos for that. This is what most of the article showed me: they try with probably the 'best' of intentions, but fail. Their ideas are flawed, their solutions broken.

    SHIP TYPE BALANCE AND THE "ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS" PRINCIPLE At the moment, we are trying to balance ships according to the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" principle—a particular ship type is effective against some ship types and vulnerable to others. The reason for this is that the game features over 400 ships, and it is very difficult to remember the specifics of each of them. To keep things simple, all ships in our game fall under five types: battleships, cruisers, submarines, destroyers, and aircraft carriers. The "Rock, Paper, Scissors" principle allows players to understand how they should play their ship type, what strengths and weaknesses it has, what its role in battle is, and what interaction principles with other ship types exist. Knowing this information, a player will not be confused in battle, even if they have little experience. It helps define in general terms their tasks in battle, how they should act while playing the selected ship of a particular type, what ship types are their primary targets, and who will target their ship first of all. The "Rock, Paper, Scissors" principle also improves gameplay variability—each ship type will be in demand in battle because each can be effective against ships of another type, and, at the same time, each has its own counter-class. Comon WG. WTF. The rock to cruisers sissors are BB's (and carriers and now subs*). The Siccors to DD's paper are cruisers (and DD's and Carriers and subs*). The paper to BB's rock are DD's (and HE spam and now subs lol*). * = Because about 3 years ago your design and producers team went braindead. What is the natural rock-paper-siccors counter to carriers? It's not even carriers now, it used to be carriers. Not subs. Not BB's. Not cruisers. Not DD's. What is it? What is the natural counter to Subs? Not DD's lol. Not cruisers rofl. BB's? Only indirectly. Carriers? Nope. It's subs kinda. I find it cool they are sharing their ideas, but it also highlights how bad some of those ideas are and how bad they are at estemating concequences and relations between the different playstyles, which is basically what gameplay design is about. Their gameplay design, testing and evaluation is heavily flawed.

    Sub are already ninja introduced, just not as techtree yet. But they will be before Xmas and will be an integral part of the 'WOWS experience', if you want to call it that.

    Maybe they become acceptable to you, but they won't be balanced. I find the current design lacking in severe ways, and next to the single launch stacking and homing with unlimited ping vs. DCP I find the lack of meaningful counterplay a very big defect in their current design.
  15. I think it's great they extended the event. I've seen some cool light changes in the way WG is handeling itself here and there. For me it's too late though. The new Spanish line gimmicks still points to the absurd direction the game keeps moving into, so i won't play much, just slag off snowflakes. To be fair, I think I've completely given up on FPS PVP shooters en MMO RPG's after 25 years of online gaming - that market, riddled with lootbox mania and gambling, is toxic to me and not worth my leisure time. ------------------ Coal: 47250 Steel: 2850 Certificates: 36
  16. It's logical to send out surveys to a targetted group, because you want the group to be relevant to what you are trying to survey. It is also logical WG's previous survey resulted in something like 'you seem to like using depthcharges' and then resulted in releasing the botched ranked version of subs into random. It's all very logical.

    Because there are plenty of counterplay scenarios against DD's? Hydro, radar, other DD's, cruisers, airplanes, subs, HE, torpedoes, secondairies, high chance of multiple modules and weapons getting damaged to name a few. You've spent almost 70% of the time in BB's and carriers. Your counters in those classes are: map awareness, detection and harassing while playing carriers map awareness, HE shells and evasion in BB's I'd advise you to play some more DD so you'll understand where they prefer to go and what they prefer to do so you will better understand what you can do in BB's and carriers.

    Acceptance is an irrelevant constant in this equation i think. We have precedent already. At no point in the last 3 years has this forum as an entity accepted the carrier rework. The exact same thing will happen with the subs because the exact same sequence of events is taking place in both instances. Shoveled into the game by a dysfunctional design and producers team, hated and loved, and always controversial. The vast mistrust is well earned. I'm not sure if anyone watching currently can deny the botched up ninja release of broken subs in the main game mode. It mimics the release of the still hated carrier rework perfectly, just at a mindboggingly slower pace. There is a difference though. I have a vague sense that some individuals at Lesta are really trying to prevent another disaster, but it already happened and I can't discard the feeling Lesta as an entity won't be able to transcend itself either, much like the forum won't be able to. On a personal level, acceptance is a simple choice: either stop playing or not. Nothing much more to it really.

    Fixing the game.

    I have t say it's the one part of the game I think looks brilliant so far. I also feel special when I think 2 years of level design work went into pleasing 4-8, because no one else sees it lol. It's magical.
