I'm dumb as a donkey, still influential Mkay. I'm currently totally confused. Somehow the sub changes made them acceptable in individual engagements to some extend, but somehow I get the feeling their influence can still be very destructive by merely existing. I present you 2 insanly dumb sub gameplay examples in which the sub didn't really do all that much to indivdual ships, but by abusing FOP (Fear of Ping) and the zero battery grace period, the sub was able to heavily influence the flank it was on. Sub biating 3 DD's getting 2 DD's killed by abusing zero battery grace period Sub at surface level locking down entire flank by FOP In general my first 0.10.0 impression: number of zero damage games increased. Number of Insane damage volleys decreased. Battle influence: weird. A good thing? I don't know. I was playing at stupid level mostly. And I'm 100% sure i would not have appreciated the gameplay on the other end of the sub stick. Thoughts are welcome. ^^ -
Yeah, no. 1 DD isn't nearly as influencial on gameplay as 1 carrier is.

Passive sonar captain skill or module for DD's and cruisers

I'd like to suggest adding a captain skill or module extention (edit: added) for DD's and CA/CL's that picks up active pings sent out by submarines within a limited radius and gives directional information to the player that has it equipped like ping targets have. This would add surface to sub interaction that is missing right now. We can call it Passive Pizza Sonar (PPS) for the time being, as the skill would work a bit like passive sonar does as far as I can tell. Currently spamming pings has very little consequences for the sub player, other then it's target being able to roughly estimate where the sub is located. Targets are the only ones to get directional info of ping locks and have to use minimap clicking and chat to tell teammates about possible sub threats and locations. This is clumsy, doesn't happen, gets missed or misunderstood. A dedicated captain skill can help a team locating active sub threats. Subs have a massive detectability advantage at range that is very hard to break in the current iteration. A passive sonar skill for DD's and cruisers can initiate surface to sub interaction where the sub has to decide if sending out a ping is worth the risk of sending out location information to possible nearby threats, and where teams can attempt to triangulate active sonar pings in order to counter a sub attacking a flank or teammate. When a ping is detected by the skill, the sub could get a 'ping detected by passive sonar' warning in return automatically if needed. It might even be a dedicated sub captain skill on it's own merit. Because it works both ways. Individual players have little to gain from their team carrier and lots to lose from the oppsing carrier, because there is no carrier vs. carrier gameplay anymore. Nobody 'needs' the involuntary and massive early spotting capabilities of the rework carriers-for-dummies, or their late kill stealing low HP targets, because most things carriers are capable of is simply leeching a PVP arena without adding anything of value gameplay wise in return. DD's were (and are) the kings of spotting during the times carriers were a rare sight in matches, and it was perfectl;y fine. The META the carriers provide is actually worse lol. ^^

In B4 obligatory WG reply 'Angling works against everything. For example there are circumstances with certain ships under specific conditions where angling works. I myself for instance bounced off HE bombs when angling against a carrier attack in a DD. Not every ship is effective at angling though.'- 49 replies

At Xmas the lootcrates turned out to be +++gasp+++ rigged. Any ship drop from these crates had a high chance of being a Makarov because random pick from a droplist is ///randomtm///. Not so random apparantly. People were getting makarovs handed out like candy. Oopsie.

It is the updated ones from what I can tell. Hardly see any user reviews yet except some trollish threads, then again it is a rather trollish class. Probably after this weekend some of the more sensible people who played them will start posting their thoughts. I havent tried the new ones so I have no opinion on the changes yet, and Im almost sure I wont be able to form one either. I cant get myself to collect 12500 basexp after being shat on by a mediocre carrier ending my kraken killing spree in the first match I played this week. I simply closed the game after that first match and proceeded to do something fun instead. So, some here will be happy to learn that I dont give faks enough to try them even when I do love subs. No EuroBiatching on this iteration of the 'test' ^^ -
