Poll: Does knowing the odds reduces gambling?
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
I don't gamble or buy crates myself, it's boring to me. I think having the odds displayed will actually make people inclined to gamble more. As I understand, our brain is seriously poor at understanding chances and odds, so 12% might short circuit dopamine production for a lot of players. I think gacha games actually started to sell more lootboxes after publishing the odds if I remember correctly reading somewhere? Also, I miss the option 'I never bought crates and won't start now' and 'I didn't used to buy crates but I will start now' -
I'm unsure how you can function with a mindset like that. My arsehole sits between my arsecheeks. It is quite an uncomfortable idea to me to hear yours may very well sit smack in the middle of your face. j/k On topic: people ranting about how crap their team is are usually either right or wrong. It all depends on wether the team is actuualy good or not ^^

[Poll] Will you buy the "Black Friday" stuff in the Armory?
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
You bastard whale. So jealous of your flexible morals. I was 1750 gold short for the Massa so I got me 'the one that got away', the Scharnhorst. Not a penny spend, the gold was from free T10 crates last 6Y event. -

Spending this much on OCD is quite silly. There are gazillions of sensible ways to spend loads of money. This game ain't one. ^^ -

I got some free dubloons at the 6 year celebration event, so I finally got myself the Scharnhorst. Bit sad as i won't be able to enjoy it much as I hardly play, but what's not to like at getting a beautiful free ship like the Scharn? ^^ -
Black Friday premium containers drop rate??? a lie

This type of threads clearly shows there are at least two types of 'common sense' on these forums ^^ -
I never posed innocent, just mad. ^^

Pretty dumb is the standard these days. Not even to be found in the wallet? Famous unfinished featuresTM by WG ^^

Scuse me, carriers were and still are boring to play but I still played them and even bought one (GZ, I got the Big E in a free crate right after 0.8.0 lulz) because i was able to get my smol vinegar fit off by griefing everyone and their mother in them. Overpowered sells. Broken sells. Griefing sells. It's a nerds complimetary side dish to get revenge on the world.
-
I don't understand what you mean. I played carriers when they were completely and totally broken and OP, right after 0.8.0. For 2 months, after I was shat on in my Atlanta, Cleveland and Grozovoi. All I played from then on was carriers for a few weeks. Once they were neutralised, I stopped playing carriers. The carrier gimmick is griefing. Not tactical gameplay or team support, no, it's griefing. Their gameplay design is boring as fk and a simplistic, spam induced 1 trick pony. It lacks depth on so many levels, it's insane that they even managed to squeeze this much fun out of naval avaition modeling. It is uncomprehensably boring, flat, spammy and stupid. That last part I can't wrap my head around: how anyone involved in game design can produce such low quality pvp crap as the reworked carriers and run with it, only to come up with a partial solution to rockets, which were the worst addition to WOWS bar homing torpedoes, AFTER 3 YEARS. Mind boggeling.
-
Yep, there is no designed carrier vs. carrier combat, quite the oppopsite, which is pathetic for a pvp class design. But there is also little to no surface to carrier combat which makes the redesigned carriers even more of a fallacy. Carriers connect to surface ships, but surface ships hardly connect to carriers in any meaningful way. Carriers still play their disconnected singleplayer game, even more so now, because they don't even connect to eachother anymore. The damage race is so important even that scouting etc is just a side product. A carrier that takes its scouting task seriously will lose the battle. It's such a pile of shoddy ideas and execution, I havent been able to wrap my head around it still ^^ Carriers still do not connect to the game, because if they truely did, their survival rate wouldn't be as high as it is. ^^

some missions for Novorossiysk is too hard for common player!

Stop ranting about everything -
The release of the unfinished rework carriers and shoddy AA systems came way too early sir. WG even admitted to that more or less. WG has forced itself to double down and deepen their commitment to these wonky and laughable pvp systems since 0.8.0 due to piling blunders upon blunders. They still keep 'experimenting' with carrier gameplay side projects while the way the absolute braindead AA and 'fighter' (dont make me laugh again) systems work stays the same: seriously flawed. All of that has got zero to do with taking feedback y/n and everything to do with stubborness, arrogance, deeply flawed pvp ideas and design goals as well as a dysfunctional team of producers. Not a community that started the discussion late lulz.

As far as I'm concerned, not entirely. The anti snipe bs WG gave to carriers is wrongfully based on the previous rts carriers design where half a carriers job was countering the enemy carrier. The fire, flooding and DCP nonsense was a misguided attempt to preemptively fix something that wasn't broken with the new carriers. It made carriers way too strong in survivability, which was simply never addressed again, because the rework is a pile of dung. In the rts days with the enemy carrier gone the remaining carrier was freed up to 100% focus on damaging surface ships uncontested, which tipped the damage balance too much. With the current generation, carriers are already balanced and designed for 100% damage farming surface ships. There simply is no carrier vs carrier gameplay. Losing a carrier now doesn't tip the damage balance as much as the rts days other then losing another ship and mainly affects detection and killing off low health targets. Which is bad, but the reworked carriers are the worst pvp class design ever anyway so pf. Who cares. The absurd protection carriers get makes them noob vessels which was the ultimate rework goal, it has little to do with mutual balance. If that was the goal, DDs should get the same bs protection.

Exactly my point: in that team game, 1 carrier has a bigger influence on the puzzle (gameplay/meta) as a whole ^^
-
While this might be true it is besides the point as it was about gameplay influence of 1 ship a class, not of better players. Influence on gameplay -> 1 carrier takes the cake over 1 dd. That is the exact reason we have a soft limit on 1 carrier per team per match ^^

expensive ships is like salt and pepper

Fictitious numbers are fictitious. ^^ Sure, I agree with the geste of what you are trying to say. A better DD player has a higher influence on the battle outcome when opposed to a bad DD player right? The big difference with carriers is that carrier players do not directly oppose eachother which means both opposing carriers will have a simular lasting affect on gameplay up to the end game. Carriers do not fight eachother. DD players do. Bad DD players often die early due to opposing DD players counters. Bad carrier players do not. Good DD players take and keep caps, even good carrier players can not. A carrier has more influence on gameplay (which is not the same as battle outcome) because of it's spotting capabilities, air speed, disregard of visual and hard cover and sustainability (survival rate). A carrier can switch flanks fast. A DD is unable to do that. A DD can't spot what is behind islands or smoke screens. A DD is highly vulnerable to counter attacks where a carrier is not.

O wait its a supership?

Actually, why don't we have 12 vs 12 carrier matches? O wait. Carrier vs. carrier isn't a thing ^^

I changed it to number of insane damage volleys decreased. Is that a valid observation?
