  1. Pretty much this - I've been struggeling a bit to rekindle my fading love for games due to the cynic business models and resulting opportunitic design and monetization features the industry as a whole keep pushing, it's quite dissapointing really. A good indicator for what games not to get is if it is listed on the 'get free gifts' list on Amazon Prime gaming. Avoid anything listed there at all costs. That list is massive. The games that are worth looking at are mostly produced by independant studio's. Hell Let Loose for example. Great game, but purchased by Team17, so it's future monetization model is unsure. I'm playing a couple of great SP turn based adventures games created by independants - there are so many cool ones. My WOWS FOMO urges have completely laid to rest. The only ship I'd like to get somewhere this year is the Napoli, everything else looks completely pointless and a waste of time.
  2. Wut. Correct, it's more like having substance abuse issues apparantly.

Mr. SchadenfreudeTM ^^ Lesta increased the skillgap for rocket planes by a gazillion miles and made the ingenius decision that 100m vessels can't be spotted by planes beyond 2,5 km at open sea though lol... ¬_¬

Ofcoarse I've been cherry picking your carrier performance, but honestly, you asked for it. The proof is in the pudding. Uncharacteristicly overperforming in those two carriers in tier 4 and 6 should tell you your assessment, that carriers are an exclusive TX problem, is very questionable to say the least. Your argument that carriers keep excessive power plays by other classes in check is simply but also completely debunked by every and all existing non carrier matches. It's really not that hard. Carriers punish all cruisers, not just island camping DM's and Grads, by completely denying stealth and detection gameplay and are actually enabling 20 km range large calibre BB snipers. Get that? Carriers HELP BB's snipe. They aggrevate the issue you think they fix. Carriers aren't spot on. They are ape pvp design.

    Plymouth for coal

I dont understand why anyone would play clanbattles in a ship you dont like or don't click with its playstyle. Because if it doesnt suit their playstyle, they most likely wont be very good in that role either, defeating the purpose of owning it anyway.

In my last 9 matches earlier this year, I've been killing DD's left and right in BB's. BB's should have no problems dealing with DD's in early and mid games whatsoever. Whoever considers DD's in BB's an OP problem probably have their target priorities wrong. If a DD is spotted, you always shoot at it, no matter what ship you are in. DD's are strong, but don't break the game the way carriers do, especially in case of a garbage player. Garbage DD - insta death or useless max range nab. Garbage carrier - 70% survival rate and 180 knts involuntary spotting. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

'We' havent forgotten anything thank you very much. BB griefing? You must be joking. Im not sure if you ever play matches without carriers, because newsflash: we already have those. The current matches without carriers are actually fine compared to matches with carriers in them. As far as 'fine' is defined by WG's poor gameplay goals and this communities skill level. ^^ Cruiser life vs. 457+ mm only gets worse with carriers in a match because cruisers get constantly spotted by planes for those big guns guns to take RNG potshots at them from the very beginning of the match up to the very the end. As planes have no problems with spotting over islands or behind smoke screens, all detection strategies and visual cover for cruisers are instantly ignored. That is why I no longer play my Atlanta for example, one of the ships I paid good money for that was absolutely great to play during the RTS days becasue it was an actual AA fleet support cruiser, but got completely nerfed into the ground with the AA redesign. The carrier and AA functionality changes at 0.8.0 were a giant step away from everything team play related and started an ego shooter centric path that only got worse in the 3 years after. All and every cruiser stealth options are thrown out the window with the presence of planes. Are you seriously suggesting carriers are helping the cruiser population grow? If anything they make it worse lol. That ship sailed long ago when Lesta decided AA cruisers area denial potential should no longer be a thing. Again, sad Atlanta noises, sad every cruiser noises actually. Carriers probably punish cruiser population the hardest. The problems you mention, especially the influx of way too many overmatching calibres, which agreed are a problem, are Lesta putting all their other interests over healthy gameplay first, and none of those issues are solved by carriers.

The problem is that those 3% of players have an overly big influence on the core gameplay of this title, and some even proudly present themselves here as petty griefers, like how you wrote earlier about happily buying carriers just to bully 'the haters'. Aren't you a sad little puppy huh? Are you for real?

    That's because WG is unreliable.

    Plymouth for coal

I'm never swimming in steel, it's a rare resource for me. That is why i carefully pick ships I really like, which all somehow always the ships that get turned into coal or are unpopular. I only have Black, Flint and Plymouth as 'steel' ships. I like the Plymouth due to it's toolset that is great for supporting DD's and caps. It's a great ship for teamplayers, which makes it a stupid ship for most I guess. It has abysmal avg damage of all T10 cruisers for the EU server, so I wouldn't mind a reload buff :P Why everybody and their mother buys Stalingrads even when they hate the playstyle of that ship, is a mystery to me. But then again, I'm the same idiot who picked the Hayate over the Smaland 1 week before they announced the withdrawl of the Smaland becasue I genuinly like it better and don't care for radar DD's.

    Plymouth for coal

Yup. Great idea. I bought the Flint for steel, and the Black, and feel stupid for buying those for steel already. One more can only make me feel more of an idiot.

I find bad carrier players more infuriating. Below my 2nd ragequit last year. I've hardly touched the game ever since, not because of carriers specifically, but the abysmal quality due to poor gamedesign and herding a mobile game loot audience instead of a enticing pvp crowd.

Yes. BBs are very forgiving to play. Also not disruptive to matches. Carriers are still unpopular. There is a reason for that

Looking for a premium light cruiser

F it's credits you want I'd suggest going premium account and play ships like Fiji and other tech tree ships that align with you well. It's a more sensible option if you are not specifically looking for a captain trainer. You just missed a 50% off offer that is on display around new years.

Wut? In no match 457 mm BB's are a game wide gameplay issue that is resolved by adding the carrier class. Battles without carriers are absolutely fine especially for light cruisers - since their stealth is completely thrown out of the window even by invulontary spotting by carriers, only for 457 mm to take potshots at them right from the first minute of the match. That DM trying to support it's DD gets spotted within 30 seconds of the map round: gone is it's stealth and surprise tactcis, hello every 457 mm pre-aiming at where it's going to be. And on top that DM player gets countered and bombed to bits despite being an 'AA cruiser' as well. Noice! BB's aren't this game's problem really, except perhaps the stupid amount of them in every frikkin battle. There is more then enough any team can do to mitigate and counter Battleships in games without carriers. The last thing both teams needs to counter battleships in general is having carriers buzz around in the skies at 180 knots spotting and harassing everyting that can counter BB's. I completely stopped playing my favorite pre 0.8.0 'yes totally solid AA ship honest' Atlanta, because the redesigned carriers make a mockery of it's core gameplay which heavily relies on map awareness and visual and solid cover. See, the problem with Lesta's carriers is that they counter about everything else except carriers (because why the f not right), including so called AA ships and the original counter to BB's - Destroyers. They counter every other class so much so that Lesta had to create absurd exemptions for DD's where planes can't spot 100 m long vessels at 2,5 km and carrier players lose control over their rocket attack planes while attacking. Which is as bizarre as planes being invulnourable during an attack animation and carriers being fully automated in their defenses and being exempt from normal damage rules that are applied to everything not carrier. See the pattern here? Their gameplay design is quite shaite.

Sure. Except you are not showing any sign of independent critical thinking. You're just throwing a tantrum so far.

Also, trying to help this developer, even indirectly, never leads to better gameplay anyway in over 3 years already. It's not their point of interest really. I'm not sure why LWM even bothers.

  21. Mad_Dog_Dante

It's Official. EU Players are the WORST in the world! :D

Since there is a fixed damagepool per match (kind of, healing is less of a fixed number), it could mean other ship/players are dealing less damage per battle maybe on average as well on the Asia server compared to EU f.e.? Maybe the skillgap on the EU server is smaller and damage per match more evenly distributed among players?
  22. Mad_Dog_Dante

instead of the usual 2 teams

That's how they make money though :/

    Help me decide,

The special captains are great value for coal when you have lots of premium/special ships in the nation of that captain. I have used my special captains about 1000% more then I use any particular ships. Multiple class builds per captain is the one good thing that came out the captain skill rework
