Actually, the personal challenges is what kept me hanging around a bit after checking and almost dismissing the update. CU in the sea of poop gentle sailors and mladies.

I haven't bought AAA titles in years. I think it's great people think crap smells like roses, but it really doesn't help games be good. -

Thank god for BF2042 -
Pretty ships somewhere inbetween a cluttered web of neural and hormonal hooks. And the Quit to desktop button.

He was Executive producer without airquotes please. That means he was the main aggregator in actively moving the game forward in the desired direction. That direction is dictated by the owners of the company, investors or a board of directors. However, his engagments with the community have been extremely poor. We can assume this attitude has been applied to everything he touched while producing this game, and has been most likely one of the main forces behind the game getting into the worse state it's ever been and getting worse with each stupid monetization idea they still come up with (subs, superships etc). Figurines like him take games like this into the shitter. I am certain the submarine fiasco has been a blistering money and resource pit so far, and on top of that hindering the game's natural evolution in many ways. That's what his job is about: making sure accidents like that don't happen to the company and IP. The next one will only better the game if the decision makers want him to and picked someone with an arching vision on how to progress the game out of the poop water. And for that those decision makers need to see the current waters as stinky in the first place. I'm not sure they even do. I've learned to be cynical initially, until improvements have made it in the flesh. The state of the game, the CC exodus, the schandlous attitude, the big social media and forum sea of salt last year and the journalistic attention following that, all that stuff is reflecting his professional legacy. I'm also quite sure his arm has been twisted into bettering the game here and there in small increments. I have no opinion on his person. Because I don't care about his personal traits. I don't think anyone here cares much if he's a nice guy to hang around with or not despite the personal insults flung around like monkey crap. I only care where he and his peers took this game. EDIT: PS - welcome back. And blame Kilinowski ^^

You should trust online questionaires as much as you would trust a random stranger at your door asking these things. In fact, you should treat anything online as if some random stranger is at your doorstep with a foot between the door with 7 drewling strongmen behind him or her watching your behavior and every eyetwitch.

Im not, becasue the game itself rots from it. -
Sell something to survive? Thats quite naive. The problem I see is this: It's a private company supposedly building shooter games making casino games their first business priority. Hence the abysmal state of this game. The abysmal state of the AAA industry actually. Should they do whatever they want? Sure. Is it helping the game ahead? No. It's pushing these games into a state of cynicism and decay.

Lel. As is quite normal these days: Tier 5 gameplay injected into tier X. I'm happy I decided to spend my leisure time on more interesting things these days ^^

Well, for what it's worth, thanks for that writeup. And all the best in your job and in the gaming industry. Luckily not everything is touched by AAA goo. Loads of entertaining products to enjoy and work on out there. 07 -

Quite a read, funny you should bring all that up. I've owned a game production studio with 3 friends and a headcount of about 40-50 people. It was quite some time ago, in the early days of steam releasing 3rd party engine games, and even though I left years ago the company is still up and running. We were a small and quite fortunate little bunch when we started. I know a bit of the bibs and bobs regarding crunch time and how demanding players can be. I know how much work goes into building games, I understand how hard you work, how builds and releases can go fubar and how frustrating it can be to see people rage on forums about almost everything. Still. Blaming the hostility between the AAA industry and it's playerbase on the players is quite a reach. I recall being booted off E3 because the big boys wanted E3 to be about the big boys. The little independent ones could royally [edited]off. This industry has been hostile against everyone for decades now, including it's own production houses, their own IPs, eachother, it's clientele and it's workforce. Players have been complaining since the dawn of gaming, however, AAA companies have never been as toxic towards the whole fking world in general as right now, and that poison has been growing slowely at first, but at a rapid pace ever since lootboxes and gambling churned out massive profits and neuro marketing was embraced as a main force in game development, production and publishing. So sure, you can feel sorry for yourself all you want and Im sorry you do, but the toxic nature of the AAA industry and their pathetic releases right now is by it's own making. The F2P BS is damaging for games and it's not something gamers demanded, it's where the massive profits were. -
Me too. O wait.

Bit of a stray answer in discussing the hate train itself, but I won't argue with most of what you mention here because it makes sense. I'm still assuming the train just got a wagon longer in it's entirety with the russian carriers, because most players do not have the attention to detail you have ^^ They simply hate whatever is in front of them. Also, you suck at griefing if you gain karma playing Midway
-
That makes the state of this game and it's population even funnier to me ^^ I'd say that train of yours is just another wagon added to the actual carrier hate train though. Thoughts?

General Submarines related discussions

WG: problem Subs are designed as a marketing ploy, not a gameplay addition. If subs are difficult, marketing will fail to replenish the substantial financial commitment Lesta producers made. Sub_O, an executive producer, moving to 'new challanges' right now wasn't a 'hard choice' probably, my bet is he's exhuberant to jump ship before the sub house of cards comes tumbeling down on us. -
Sub_O was an executive producer and probably heavily invloved in the direction the game took a couple of years ago. He was appointed by people who thought he had great ideas and a good enough track record. Those people will appoint the next figurine as well. Since Sub_O is confident the developers and community moved on to better waters together I'm cynically assuming the game will continue to get worse ^^

I can't be arsed to play this POS much anymore. Much like WOT is completely dead to me. Good enough? ^^ You see, the thing is I couldn't care less if this game still makes gazillions or has an army of zombies following it. If it sucks 2 play it's dead to me. Personally. You know, the criteria that matters.

Perhaps because playing vs. a Nakhi is more annoying then playing against a Midway, and perhaps your Midway farms karma by winning, because perhaps you currently xrap in Nakhi, because perhaps you played way more Midway and are perhaps better at it. Who cares? In b4 screenshotted Nakhi pwnage ^^
-
Potato potato, tomato tomato. Community sheds tears over carriers period. Each new one is more shait then the previous one. They didn't forget how shait the Midway is. They just see more shait Nakhi's. ^^
