Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Actually it is statistically possible to lose 10 out of 10 matches. It's not great if it happens but it can. It is usually a good idea to take a break after 3 losses to reset your mind and patience. -

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Resetting lines I ended up in tier 3 and 4 battles and was shocked to see every battle at tier 3 and 4 has 4 carriers in them. As soon as I reached tier 5 the carrier spam ended and I got 1 carrier per side in less then 50% of my matches. WG, your new players are getting slammed by carriers with endless plane reserves, because AA is so crap at those 2 tiers carriers don't have to worry about anything. You are destroying any recruitment efforts by having this. Fix it, your game population growth will suffer. -
I just reset my first tech tree, and plan to reset them all.

Not about his particular accusation, it's BS. But his generic rage towards a vet sealclubbing at tier 3 is justified to a certain extend and actually by design :P I'll be playing quite some Hosho battles, and will be stuck at this tier up to 70k XP, earned the normal way. I think the reset should have been to tier 5 or 6, not the whole 10 yards :-) -

So this happened to me as I was playing my Hosho today (I reset most IJN techtree lines). I've posted in another thread jokingly, but it does strike an unpleasant nerve. This was a tier III VI match, and in some weird universe, the guy throwing this at me post battle is partially right. As a vet in a Hosho I am enjoying an unfair advantage over him, in his BB as a newbie. It's a double advantage: a ship he can't compete with and a player that has about 15k batles over him. Do we, experienced vet players, belong in that tier? Should te reset have been set back to tier 5 or 6 instead? -
You're taking this way too seriously ^^
-
Who's arguing? I'm just keeping him from falling asleep.
-
Ah so I'm assuming from your attempt to sarcasm, that you are regularly killed by fire damage when sailing a CV or kill CV's by fire damage regularly when engaging one? Or is that a false assumption? If so, what's the point of this answer?
-
@L0V3_and_PE4CE Wait a minute, do you consider me 'anti CV crowd'?
-
Thanks for your clarification. In that case, my experience is that it is ridiculously hard to kill a CV in most DD's by HE shells and fire damage. Almost never happens. So I have to consider this an myth that keeps popping up every now and then.
-
As you've might have read in earlier posts I made, I think the CV's are not in a good place balance wise especially at the tier I am currently playing: Tier IV. But I do like the change to the AA system, as far as how players handle it goes. I actually feel engaged with aircraft fighting now, that's something. Also: What happened to your forum persona, it's so nasty :o Please stop with the personal insults already will you? I'm not impressed much, and it's not helping an open discussion, if you're even after such a thing.
-
I've heared this one before, but could you point me to somewhere that explains this in more detail? Because I also recall people debunking this as a myth.
-
Another lie masked by little hearts. So any new insights from you about the CV rework? Or are you just here doing what you mostly do, invigorate the thread by posting off topic hot personal insults? You're the no1 derailer of this thread mate. On topic: I like the AA system change. It's better, more fun and to the point. I still think CV hulls have a massive issue.
-
There are plenty of bad and starting CV players out there which is what you are seeing. I'm sinking other CV's in my Hosho. I am also doing fine in my DD, because I am a seasoned veteran player, but this tier is not for us or your mate. We do not belong here. Also, do you even need to consider what target you attack with your Hosho? Do you ever run low on planes? Do you ever fear a DD approaching your hull or is it just a simple extra meal served? You should be able to understand how problematic the state of the Hosho is for players that just started to play this game and sail ships at tier 3 and 4 after what, 10 - 20 battles? When those players leave, we won't hear from them on this forums, they just leave silently without saying a word.
-
-
^^ Are you for real? How long have they been working on the CV rework before they plunged that halfway implemented turd onto the live server? They have been trying to polish it for 6 months now. Rushed? Spreadshit says no.
-
After resetting most IJN line I can tell you Tier IV sucks for most players probably. I unlocked the Hosho, 100% WR and am sealclubbing poor new players who probably get turned off by this BS. I unlocked the Isokaze and get 4 CV's IN EVERY MATCH. I'm doing fine, but the CV gameplay still is as ever before. WG has been [edited]about for over half a year, and it's still a bloody mess. I'm not sure how they think a 10.000 euro bot recruitment award will fix the horrible gameplay they created at tier 3 and 4. Retaining customers is cheaper then recruiting new ones. The one thing I still can't wrap my head around is why CV's hulls are so strong. Why does WG cater that particular class, the one that entices rage by many, to the most stupid players among us, so they can frustrate new players into deleting the game?

are you serious with ranks...totally manipulated
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to kinarosamor's topic in General Discussion
I play up to the last irrevocable rank and stop as soon as I reach it. Last season it took me 1 battle, this season 4 or 5 I think. It's for keeping my sanity. Getting bumped down a rank just makes my head explode. -
Pretty much

So, I am working my way up the DD line to open up the 3 additional trees: IJN torp DD, IJN gun DD and the IJN CV line. I am noticing one main issue with the enjoyment tier 3 and 4 battles: a lot of matches have quadruple CV's. It's unpleasant to say the last, and the main issue still remains: CV's outlive everyone and are ALWAYS the last 2 ships alive if a team gets decimated, and in a balanced game both CV's on each team survive and start the boring slow grind to wear eachothers stupidly durable hulls down to zero. It's silly. It's bad design, and it's still as bad as it was before. I am a seasoned veteran, I know how to handle CV's. But imagine new players in tier 3 ships, getting harrassed relentlessly by 2 buzzing enemey CV players. Or a fresh DD player stumbeling upon 2 carriers, trying to gun them down because new players will simply not understand how stupidly durable Wg made the carrier hulls, so stupid that when they start gunning they sign their own deathwarrant. It must be one of the worst introductions to this great game. Stop. Scaring. New. Players. Away. So faced with 2 CV's in my isokaze, I fixed this problem WG created for me thusly: Stupid problems create stupid solutions. Fix the idiotic CV durabiliity issues already. Fix 4 CV's per low tier match. Let them burn, let them flood. Fix this stupid Also, Isokaze great fun!
