Is it time to disengage and close your wallet?
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
Flooding the game with resources, lootboxes and assets is exactly the business decisions I am referring to. The game has been molded into a mobile style lootbox resource game rather then a FPS shooter. So yes, that is eactly what is going on, a giant web of resources in which players can feel inept and with a gameplay arena that's just there to give 'value' to otherwise pointless assets. -
They bore me I have a few in port and hardly ever use them.

Introduction of new skill system without testing?
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Humorpalanta's topic in General Discussion
We learned at around 0.8.0 that WG learns different things from testing then vets do ^^ -
Is it time to disengage and close your wallet?

Vets should realise WG doesn't care for their business much. They will never tell you in your face, but their business decisions should speak for themselves. Their endgame is nonexistant really. All major changes have been facilitating inexperience players reaching the upper echelon of tiers quicker, and buying into tier 8 9 and 10 has never been more accessible. The gameplay quality of the game has suffered significantly due to WG's focus on resource hoarding and gambling over gameplay. I mean, they try, they are just not very succesfull in that regard in my eyes. In case of carriers gameplay quality was sacrificed not only for the carriers themselves, but for the game as a whole. I've stopped buying things for real money since late dec 2019. WG doesn't care actually. Neither do I. It's a simple transactional decision. The rework, the disgusting introduction of the dockyard and their abhorrent responses to that, the list of premium ships that have become obsolete to me due to META changes without changing the actual ships to retain their original gameplay value, the childish event gating off the Benham that I really liked which I didn't get and still can't buy for a reasonable price, the absurd inflation of prices in game, the relentless pushing of lootboxes etc. Unless you are new to the game I see no reason for anyone to spend cash on it whatsoever. It's digital stuff that has zero resell or monetary collectors value.- 82 replies

Torpedo tube destruction this update?

I've played a lot of my T9 and T10 destroyers tonight and havent noticed this. Are you protecting your modules and guns with the right upgrades? -
As far as I know only carriers have worse xp gain because they had to. I didn't notice any sneaky XP gain nerf for any ship lately.

Some of you might know that I've come to love the Hayate and my captain in her, Ashigara. I was initially planning to get the Smalland once I reached 2Mil FXP due to the community praising her and bashing the Hayate. But somehow I wasn't impressed by the Smalland much with the exceptions of 2 encounters where I made a mistake and a Smalland decimated my puny destroyer in seconds. This post is not about that though. It is about the Hayate, the myth of her being not good at anything, and the legend she can be when handled with love and tenderness. This is the Hayate appreciation thread and a call on all Hayate owners to add experiences to this post. Because I think this ship is seriously underappreciated by the community and she deserves some sweet honey love. WG made a really fun ship here, lets give back to the makers a little. My latest match in the Hayate this evening resulted in a SOLO WARRIOR with a KRAKEN, killing my 5th ship in the last 10 seconds of a full 20 minutes match. A victory with a 1 point margin as the timer ran out to zero. Video of this match below.. My stats in her so far are nice, and she actually sits right in the middle of the Shima (3rd best) and Kitakaze (1st best) in frags and damage done. Her WR is hovering around 70% at 37 matches. I play solo matches in random. Spread the love Hayate fans. Lets do dis.

solo warrior Hayate: The Myth - The Legend
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
I would recommend taking smoke over TBR when starting out until you are comfortable enough with her to be able to try out Torpedo reload booster. I haven't tried yet, because I noticed I need smoke quite often to be able to disengage. She is quite big and not very nimble and because of that a fat target. She is a lot of fun, I am quite happy with my initial choice, even if it means I might miss getting the Smalland. I have a suspicion I won't be playing Smalland much. In the second half of a match, alpha strikes get more important, like my end battle vs. the Somers and my last kill of the french cruiser in the video. -
Also, the winning team gets 1.5x baseXP rewarded which is why you see the winning team players have more BXP on the scoreboard compared to the losing team, so make sure to win your matches!

solo warrior Hayate: The Myth - The Legend
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I recommend Smalland over Hayate right now, but only because it'll be gone soon. I couldn't have pulled the Solo Warrior off in a Smalland I think, simply because Hayate hits harder with both shells and torps. U no liky my avatar? -
This. Trainingwheels vs. low calibre HE.

Tnx bud. The red yellow green lights are called Running Lights, the ship angle indicator is called Navigator. I got them through Modstation. https://worldofwarships.eu/en/content/modstation/ -
Tier 6 CVs Woefully Underpowered and under rewarded
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to MacFergus's topic in General Discussion
You dont want to derail and yet here you are excreting this nonsense that you and about 2 or 3 others desperately tried to keep alive. Its fiction, you should finally lay it to rest. Seriously. The others stopped bringing it up a few months ago. Its time you do too. Peace out. -

About the "Black ships bonus mission"
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
I think it's not as innocent as 'because why not'. It is used to persuade customers to buy the Black ship while owning the normal premium ship, which is perfectly fine. But also to bait as many customers possible with the specific intend to have them purchase the offer thinking falsely they can get 2500 gold back by doing a mission with the ship they are buying. We can tell this is intended because it is absurdly simple to be unambiguous about these missions, and they choose not to be. Are customers to blame? Sure, partly for not being savvy customers. Is WG to blame for being intentionally obtuse? Absolutely. -
Jean Bart B bundled with Jean Bart mission?
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to CptBaconstrips's topic in General Discussion
And those here are likely a small section of the people who actually misunderstood the offer, bought it, felt bad or stupid for being gullible consumers and decided to do nothing. -
About the "Black ships bonus mission"
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Enough information to make the offer as clear as possible, it's not about creating a single equation to model the entire universe. It's a simple line added that can make things more clear. 'The bonus mission in this offer can not be completed with the Cossack B.' And remove the mission blerp from the main page ad. An advert copy writer explained it here recently: it is a common practice to write and rewrite offers with the intended purpose to help customers understand as good as possible what the offer entails. It is also common practice to use those same tools to make the offer obtuse within the limits of the law with the intended purpose to mislead your customers into buying something they might not purchase would they fully comprehend what the offer actually entails. WG is doing the latter, purposefully. -
Tier 6 CVs Woefully Underpowered and under rewarded
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to MacFergus's topic in General Discussion
Damage farming in itself hardly ever wins games. Conquerer is famous for this. Ive had 180k damage games lost in cruisers. 210k damage rounds lost. It happens. You probably need to get more experience in what to attack and when, and how to play when bottom tiered. Toning down your expectations a bit might help as well, and understanding how bad the redesign actually is, for both carriers as well as surface ships. How long have you been playing these now, what two weeks? You probably need to git gud a litle more -

I understand your cynisism, really I do. The world is filled with proper [edited] as much as there are great people, and depending on personal situations, sometimes these [edited] are unavoidable and have to be dealt with. This is not such a company however. They don't sell anything critical, even though sometimes you get the impression on this forum that they do. That's entitlement and that is something I have little compassion for. If you are lucky, like me and many of us on this forum I'm sure, we all can make very simple choices here. I expect WG to be on their best behavior creating a product that is partly aimed at minors. They dissapoint constantly, and I find that inexcusable. So I choose. They don't care about vets disconnecting. That's fine with me in return. F 'em. I think the abundance of complaints here on this forum (remember, only a small part comes here to complain) speaks for itself. There is lots of room for improvement in these offers, and it has been clear for years now. An inequivocal solution to this issue is really really simple to make and WG chooses not to. Again, i find that inexcusable but in no way a surprise. It's what these people do. It is not a personal issue for me. Some of the responses however, that belittle people for making a mistake, are unnessecery abusive and only serve selfinterest. To me the solution is two folded. People playing this game need to be aware of WG's attitude towards consumers and use a fine comb while reading everything before buying. And WG needs to man up and act like responsible adults. It's really not that hard to do the right thing in something this trivial. -

Sure and that goes both ways. Im a responsible adult. And so are the people running WG and their marketing department. I expect them to be on their best when running a business creating games advertised as suitable for PEGI 7+. I expect better of them and I think it is fine they are being held accoutable for the way they advertise their products. These offers could have easily been made unambiguous. Shame on them and their marketing department. Really.
