No, FDR is not the perfect example representing all carriers, thats not what I said, its the perfect example how AA damage is only meaningful when planes are actually killed because of the high hp pool and slow regen. And yes, damage only being meaningfull if it cant be repaired is true for gun damage as well, which is why we all know that HE spam damage doesnt win games. Damage can contribute to ships being killed, but its only meaningfull if it is unrepairable or if the ships are actually taken out before they can repait it. That's even more true for plane damage because damaged planes get insta auto repaired to 100% without using up any resource when they reach the hull. I earned AA defense expert in my T6 ijn DD last week in a 4 carrier game i survived and won 36 plane kills. Proof that AA works or were these 2 carriers just absolute horses arse while effectively taking me out of the battle at the same time? -
When a carrier spots a DD, he basically takes it out of the battle equation at that very moment. Doesn't that perfectly mirror the surface ships that should not complain about being focused by a carrier because he's keeping the carrier from attacking the rest of the team, you know that type of BS we've been reading for the past 2 years?

Eh, that's exactly what I said, plane damage is meaningless unless the planes are actually killed, either by you or anyone else contributing. So referring to plane damage as an argument is pointless, unless you can attest to those planes getting shot down by a meaningful number. As FDR is a carrier played frequently these days, it's absolutely a good point of reference in the AA discussion, it is actually one of the better ones as it is the prime example that plane damage is meaningless and only plane kills matter. Seriously, 100k plane damage and 11 planes killed, that doesn't sound absurd to you? A clanmate of mine did 80k the day after with about 9 planes killed. How is that not relevant to a discussion about AA? -

Top-Tier is the CC embodyment of the carrier-griefer. It's interesting you point to him as one of the best. ^^ Again, your pov is so skewed because you are a carrier main, that you seem to have no understanding what it is you actually bring to the pvp enviroment other then entitlement. -

Only meaningful if your 20k helped actually killing the planes off, and even then most likely all of that 20k plane damage will regenerate. I did 100k AA damage to a FDR in my Ohio some time ago, was sunk, killing about 11 bomber/TD/fighter planes and 5 fighters. Absolutely pointless damage. Absolutely pointless 'gameplay'. -

Bull. The natural enemies of DDs is DDs. As a selfproclaimed carrier main, you show a gross lack of understanding what it is you actually bring to the pvp table with your preferred class. All we need to remind you of is that matches without carriers are absolutely fine. There is no lack of a natural enemy to DDs in matches without carriers. There is a lack of natural enemies to carriers though. Wtf. And DDs survive longer in matches without carriers, that is what you bring as an argument? Seriously, coming from a carrier player that is hilarious. Did you check the survival rates of carriers compared to any other class? Should WG balance carriers in such a way that those numbers are no longer completely lopsided in favor of carriers as they currently are? Because i think they should. Carriers leech of the surface pvp enviroment without adding hardly any pvp in return, not even meaningful pvp to eachother. They have no natural enemies. So much facepalm. They can piss off in their current rework state for all I care because they are boring as f to play, and matches without them are more interesting for everyone else actually. Natural enemy. Rofl. -

Nice bro. Absolutely what this topic should be about. Bitching about fellow forumites you meet in battle. Pretty slik. -
It feels comfortable if you are familiar with Edinburgh. More then Minotaur actually. The smoke radar combo makes it a better cap supporter compared to those two as far as I can tell after 1 battle. I was actually able to push into two caps, of which one middle cap was under constant threat.
-
Bought Plymouth. Put Cunninham on it and that looks to be a nice match with the equipment spoil talent which adds +1 to all consumables when 2 kills are reached and consumables enhancement which boosts radar, hydro and smoke all by 10%. I like. First match it handled and performed to my expectations. Trapped 2 DD's that were sitting in my radar like frozen bunnies caught in headlights lol. Guess people aren't familiar with the ship much. Totalled 95k damage, 2 caps (!) and 2200 baseXP in my first match. Oh and 8km secondairies rofl. I like x2.

I can't decide between Marceau and Immelmann
Mad_Dog_Dante replied to RenfieldSyndrome's topic in General Discussion
I don't own the Immelman but I mostly hear good things about it. As I love the french DD's, with the current rocket changes, speedtanking carriers is even more fun. The french are not plane killers, but damage avoiders as far as carriers go. As long as you make sure you're not too close to enemy guns when you get hunted by a carrier, you should be able to speedtank it to your hearts content. If you don't like open water gunboating speedtanking go for the Immelman. If you do like it, finish the french DD line first before picking up the Marceau to see if you like the playstyle. Marceau is them most fun one of them all. -
Uncalled for nerfs : is WG simply creating room for Submarines to fit in PvP ?

Their problem is that they only use one customer profile for all their classes. -
EuroBarfs confirmed.

LoL, well i thought I decided but the Austin urge and Bourgogne forever on wishlist are strong. So I forced myself to rethink it again to fight my urges, from the ground up, talked to my Clanmates who all said to get the Austin or Bourgogne, so I listened carefully and went for the Plymouth Still have to buy her though.
-
I only aquire steel very slowly, so it's a hard pick. It needs to be a ship that doesn't rely on 1 gimmick too heavily, which is why I've ruled out the Austin, no matter how hard my initial urge screams for it. Which leaves Bourgogne or Plymouth. Bourgogne would be my second pick as I've always wanted her, but then Georgia came along which probably filled my urges for a fast fun flanking battleship. I don't play battleships often, so I feel I have no requirement for a second fun flanker oddly enough. I love all glass Cannon (smoke) cruisers, and despite the general consensus that Plymouth isn't all that, this swiss knife seems like a solid and very fun pick that won't rot away in port. I want to thank you all for helping out, as steel is a rare commodity for me. Appreciated.

The Flint definitely isn't garbage, I played a few battles right after the captain rework and despite WGs refusal to bring it back to what it was before I was able to perform well. It was annoying, but doable nevertheless. I do agree with you on MM, the ship is absolutely unfun in tier ix heavy environment, which is an unneeded MM and meta problem. One of many gameplay problems this developer self inflicts.

I think he has a point, especially since destroyers will be the ones enduring even more detection flukes and will be the ones who should be reliably hunt these things. Most agreed that the additional burden on destroyers would be too heavy, so I think it is entirely possible that these changes will lighten dds load somewhat. Subs will come. I sure as hell hope they won't add new 'rework' disaster, because I'm not sure I can stomachs another one.
