    Short range fire can not sink a battleship

    way to jump on the bandwagon.... I actually think the guy meant that shortrange penetrations should cause more additional damage in general. Especially in BB vs BB because irl penetrations at a downward angle would do massive damage and cause flooding. Then he said this should especially be true when overpenning a cruiser because you'd be making 2 holes so you would atleast end up with flooding if shot downwards at the waterline and out below the waterline which is quite frankly logical and should happen with any ship in close combat (so CA vs CA same thing). He never advocated a direct BB buff.... edit: tl;dr: better penetration mechanics..

    Tier IV vs Tier VII and that is fair?

    Tier 4 wyoming. Hit citadel on tier 6 ca that got overconfident. Good times. Except for the speed difference t4 bb vis t6-7 is quite doable if you're smart about it.

    So basically they increased rudder shift so planes actually get dodgable but at the same time they nerfed DDs even further. As usual Wg style: throw the baby away with the bathwater... problem solved!

    Where to shoot with which ammo?

    I will only comment on BB gameplay: AP- everything except DD. Aim for the waterline below the smokestacks to get a citadel. When firing at extremely lightly armored cruisers HE works as well (phoenix). Don't fire HE at protected cruisers like the St louis, BB shell won't overpen those guys so even without citadels the damage is good. If you got AP or He preloaded and need to switch, just fire it at the target and then switch over. If you're going to wait, might as well do some damage. Even if its minimal.

    I think its mainly rate of fire related. If we take a theoretical cruiser in which one salvo hits with 12 shells and you can put out 3 salvos before the battleship fires you theoratically have a chance to NOT cause a fire of 0,93^36 = 0.07 so chance to cause a fire will be 93% if I'm correct. This means in any prolonged fight ending up with multiple fires is not that surprising, even if the cruiser puts out less shells (ei rolls less rolls of 7%). If they'd halved the chance that would already be a great improvement.

    BBs are powerfull but the learning curve is far steeper than the other classes because you can't react as fast as a cruiser. That said I can pull of 1-2 citadels a game after an afternoon of practice so with time I think I can manage the class. Had a phoenix pester me at long range but when the guy came out the other side of the island I blew him up in my wyoming after aiming for the citadel. I mainly drive BBs because of these moments. I'd say nerf HE fire chance for smaller callibers and increase battleship AA effectiveness at the lower tiers and that would be it. Then again I'm still new to this game.
