Hey everyone. It seems like there are a lot of players who are having a hard time playing with BBs, calling them underpowered and useless.
Now, I noticed this myself too. I used to think that playing BB was useless since Cruisers would wreck me.
However, instead of thinking that it's the ship, try thinking about how you could improve.
Since I tried adjusting my playstyle things went really well. So here are a few pointers that might help;
1. Have patience, both in game as out of the game. You're a slow ship and it'll take some time before you see action. Also.. Skill doesn't come in minutes. Game sense is won over a lot of games. Keep trying!
2. At the start of a game check where you spawned and where your allies spawned. Follow some cruisers or better yet ask in chat if cruisers want to help you out. A battleship is a great sponge for damage and every shot you take is a shot less in a friendly cruiser or destroyer.
3. Also when spawning, check the enemy team. Are they mostly cruisers, battleships or destroyers? What tier? This will give an indication on what shells to start with. If they have a lot of cruisers on or around the same tier as you, load up that AP! Do you see 3 or more destroyers on their team? I usually keep my first salvo HE in case it's the first ship I meet. Then switch back to AP.
4. Work on your angling. If there are multiple enemy ships, try adjusting your front to most of them. You'll be a smaller target at a hard to penetrate angle.
The second thing in this is; Prioritize your targets! Don't shoo the ships that are sailing away with their tail towards you, shoot the ships that DO have their broadside to you. 9 out of 10 times there will be an easy shoot around you. You just have to search for them and not tunnel on the first ship you see. 5. Always make turns and/or adjust speed from time to time. Make it hard for destroyers to have a lead on you. Remember! You'll never know when a Destroyer is near :-)
6. Practice on citadel hits! Read up on them, youtube them or even practice them in-game. :-)
7. Have fun! It's a game. The most important thing is to have fun. If you need help having fun you can always add me to friends and we'll play together.
I used to think Battleships were weak myself but I found myself really improving after working on my playstyle. With so far my best game yet:
