Well done WG, So, now we have a DD with a stock 11,2Km firing range, but a 14,6km detection range when firing. Stock detection range of 10Km with at best 10Km range torpedoes which are the slowest in game between all TX DDs => 56kn. It's also the biggest DD and has the biggest turning radius. Arround 10km even BB CAN NOT MISS it and you CAN NOT dodge. It's THE DD who can't hide. Who can't torps. And who can't dodge. By taking it out in a game, you're not only providing the enemy team the easiest target amongst all DDs, you're a dead weight for your team. You're the guy going to war armed with a broomstick made to scare crows. Let's all acclaim WG for their "fun and engaging game mechanics", and their mastery of Balancing. We saw it with US CVs already, but now they're making an art out of it Just grind the gearing. or shimas but WG nerfed it too, so my take on it: welcome in World of Gearings. Gearing with ATF and concealement expert can stealth fire from 9,7Km to 13,4km, has a detection range of 5,9km with CE, 2,4 sec reload time with Main Battery mod.3 and BFT skill. 16,5Km torpedoes going at 66kn. Compare and make your choice. I learned how to play DDs with it (thus my sucky stats on it) but once u get used to it it's great. Now? it's the best. Period, no question about it. My sincere advices: - if you have free XP'ed it? ask for a refund. - If your are grinding the Ru DD line? Stop RIGHT NOW. - GO US DDs all the way. Worth it I swear. PS: call me names, tell the world how much my stats sucks thus making my point invalid... I don't care, the khaba's stats will speek volume. If you ask my humble (or not, could not care less xD) opinion, the reason Khaba needed a nerf was because it was out performing other DDs. The reason it was out performing? Go no further than WG's prided "fun and engaging game mechanics" but LOL, you can't nerf that don't you. Let's all wait for the implementation of submarine, scince they worked sooo well in Navy Field 2. -

Gearing with ATF get the same range as fletcher, but more importantly, give you a roughly 3,5KM WINDOW OF INVISIFIRE. Meaning everything you fire or launch torps at will never see you, even if they got radar or hydroaccoustic search. They won't catch you too. They can do nothing, you are immune to return fire. Provided you dealt with the enemy's DDs first, you are basically invulnerable, scince most of the games you'll play will be without CVs. To put things in perspective, Atlantas have a 14 gun broadisde firing every 5sec, and most Atlantas skipper go for ATF for better AA, and longer rainbows while hugging islands. A Gearing with ATF will be able to do the same without the need to stick to islands, and without fearing to be detected by radar, the equivalent of an invisible Atlanta minus one turret. Get the definsive fire consumable and with the gearing handling you'll be safe from the occasional CV as well as be able to provide escort to your BBs. It is not the best build, hell it's not even the build i run now scince WG introduced survival expert, and CV have pretty much disappaered. I never claimed to be the best player. My stats which I did not hide are proof of that. But in the right situation this build is the bane of enemy BBs, and a plus to your team when Hakuryus stacks their TB. Now dear RobS80, Karamon, can you tell me please why would you think that making BBs, CLs unable to return fire is a bad idea? it's not the best, but to dismiss it completly like you do... it's not taking in account the introduction of radar for CL and Hydro for Ger BBs. Especally when we can't just sit in smoke from 6Km anymore. You guys should know it scince you mostly play US DDs. Firing from 10Km in a Gearing is not that much different than firing from 20km+ range in a yamato.... I totally agree with you, it's just a counter to CL equipped radar, 'til friendly BBs get rid of them. That's my point too. If they had buffed the turning radius so that dodging efficiency rely more on skill than crappy dispertion and prayer to RNGjesus it would have been fine. That and enable the use of the 3M range buff, giving you the choice of either range or DPM, because let's be frank, it's the couple range and DPM that made the Khaba OP in the first place, crappy handling was just supposed to be the balancing factor. -
Hi, I did try both the gun and torps modules, both are extremely potent, and I would advise you to choose according the way you play, and the skill set of your captain. Fletcher class DDs really shine when the skill build of an experienced captain is backed up by modules. - Do you like to stalk you prey close up, prioritizing enemy BB or bigger targets and launching torps, firing your gun only when engaging enemy DDs? Then use the torpedo module all the way. Captain skills (17pts) should be as follow: BFT, TE & LS, either vigilance or superintendent, SE to tank hits or avoid those torpedo oneshots, and CE. Enjoy a stealthy torpedo boat that can kill any DD she meets. Or are you a over aggressive troll just wanting to watch the world burn? Then go guns. Take out your dimanche captain. Pick BFT, TE & LS, Vigilance & superintendent, DE & SE, for 19pts rated pure madness. Then troll the world of warships with a proud under tiered TX. Cap, torps, hunt, burn. And traumatize the enemy DDs & BBs alike, shame enemy CL that do not escort thier fleet. The most OP DD imho: all her strengths are boosted up, no real weakness.

To those that think that gearing HE spam sucks: Tips on "13Km" US HE spamming: First hunt enemy DDs, then find the biggest BB. fire one turet at a time, so you can walk the rainbow to your target. Remember that HE Dmg is negligeable (200 dmg or even 0 on yamato) but you need just to keep 2 fires, so he burn down his damage control. them keep spamming left clic, or use a macro if you're lazy. best range you want to spam from is 10km (13KM range is just for giving your shell enough lead) when BB are broadisde, scince BB have the size of a football field, you'll get some hits anyway, more so when you are firing 150 shells a minute and are used to the turning radius of each ship. any BB under such rain of fire will turn away leaving you to his cruiser escort. Said cruiser will have to rush foward, without support from fleeing BB, thus making his easy pray for your BBs. Ask your BBs from support and mark the CL for priority targeting. See the enemy team cohesion disapear, Laugh at enemy cruiser crying because BB left him to die without support. Once CL is dead, torps the running BBs from 7km, or sit in smoke going pewpew. Your job as an US HE spammer is not to deal damage, but break the cohesion of the enemy team so they loose all efficiency: It's the rock/paper/scissor meta, so to win, take one of the three out of the equation from the enemy team. In short: help the enemy team to look like your team during the usual defeat, do not hope for the enemy team to sucks, make them sucks, but it's a WG multiplayer game anyway, teamplay is not the priority of most player. That is the reason khaba was nerfed. Cuz it was soo great at doing it. but nerfing will not fix the meta, it will just make that particular ship more vulnerable, it will not change the BBs running away and leaving cruiser to die alone when they're under pressure. It will not stop teams from crumbling. Enemy Cvs is the fix? those are near extinct species thanks to nerf bat and economy change. try a game at TX and then go TVI-VII. Compare the number of CVs, and those with 5th skill seal clubbing TV cruiser without defensive fire cooldown. -

well, let's answer your question Omnichron: 1°) I Did not and will not take the khaba out out anymore. Why? because i did not wait for the nerf to play it and gun down from a 9-11Km range. I've played it BEFORE the nerf that way, and it never worked, any competent North Carolina skipper will blast you out of the water at than range. well, Tirpitz level of accuracy is still manageable at that range, any better gun WILL get you. 2°) As said before, I've played it at that range, with that rate of fire before. the detection range will make you visible from any firing range, which in turns force you to adopt a passive gameplay. No caps, No torpedo runs, you have to wait for other DD to spot and engage enemy DDs to have any chances of coming out victorious in a fight. a Gearing or a Shima will spot you 4Km earlier than you will. And do NOT forget Khaba has been disigned as a DD hunter. Gearing has the same range, but up to 1/2 of its realod time. Thus it will always have the advantage in ANY circumstance. By the time you spot him, ie 5,9km, the gearing gun arc are the same as yours. If your supposing I should play it like an american destroyer, I'd rather play the Gearing. Check the stats. 3°) before? no it had too much hp. Now? Hell Yes, and I've got materials to back up my claims: I've got 231 games in Khaba, 129 in shima and 118 in gearing. I've also got the yamato, the midway and the Desmoines. So it's not like i'm a DD fantatic, but well half my games are in DDs so DDs are my area of expertise i might say. 4°)I'm not angry because my "favorite ship" is nerfed. I'm angry because WG put in place game mechanics that keept being screwed up. I'm angry because WG is trying to dictate the way I like to play by using the nerf bat. Because WG only respond to the most vocal part of the community, hammering the nail that stick out rather than fixing the meta. Do you really think that nerfing the khaba will enable BB driver to go yolo solo without being burned to death? just keep these words in mind: now that khaba got its teeth taken out, what on these seas will be able to stop me from stalking people in my gearing with my 17pts captain, firing HE in stealth from 10 to 13km (Out of radar range trololol) every 2,4 seconds 'til the guys burn from stern to bow then swithing to AP, while spamming 10 torpedoes going at 66kn every 2 minutes? The new balanced khaba that i will detect first, and shoot at a range I can't miss? I'll just have to pop my smoke so i drop from his radar and get rid of the 20 sec detection debuff instantly then charge him. At close range Gearing are designed to be the best DD by our master of balance at WG, that's why WG gave them rainbow arc in beta in the first place, to nerf those monsters at longer range. Seriously why do you think I should rage that my Khaba got nerfed when my Gearing is now THE ULTIMATE ship in this game? No counter, best gun, best torps, best concelement of all the TX? it's even more OP than the fletcher with a skilled captain is now. Rather than crying tears of frustration, I should cry tears of gratitude don't you think? lol. -
Hey Gary! First thing, first: Happy time Will start in the gearing once you've unlocked the 5th skill, get it ASAP Then about detection rating: • contrary to what psge told, the loading rating do refect module, captain skills and camo pattern bonuses influence on stats. Here some example: camo will add +1 to +3 to the concealment rating, the stealth module +9/10 same as the 5th skill. So in TX game : a rating arround 94-96 means a fully stealth spec'ed DD. • Equal ratings DO NOT seems to mean EQUAL DETECTION RANGE. A kagero rated 94 will always detect your 95 (stealth build) rated gearing. looks like equal rating mean equal reduction bonuses applied, or stuff of the same effect. In short, you'll have to remember that a DD in the 80's will not spot you, in the 90's, that's full stealth build domains: TX are this time equal, USN and IJN TIX will spot you first tho. [edit: this little rule of thumb works once you've got 5th skill unlocked, as you haven't yet, DD with rating over yours will detect you, at equal rating japanese wins if they are tiered lower. So.... Use teamwork, as Jingles says, it give the enemy something else to shoot at.] Hope that will help you better plan your game at the start and enjoy the great G!
