What we know about Ships: Updated 05/04/2017
Vanhal replied to mr3awsome's topic in General Discussion
So, you are saying its not the WG that is interpreting real ship data and transforming them into arbitrary ingame statistics to balance the gameplay, but rather real 1930's ship constructors built their ships to match WoWs tier classification? -
And in the meantime on RU...

4) Make option for the ships to retain their previous hulls looks only while being upgraded. Except point one, which i somehow don't expect WG to even consider, nothing else would make any sense anyway, as upgrades offer seriously massive difference. While not as bad as tanks, stock ships are often comparable or even worse than upgraded ships of previous tier.

TORPEDOES ARE OP! You're welcome.

German BBs+ tier 6 premium French BB Dunkerque stats in 0.5.9
Vanhal replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in Battleships
You sure about the Konig Albert? Maybe it's not OP, but other two tier 3 are so crappy that anything even remotely balanced at tier 3 looks like totally OP in comparison. -
Type59 was not nerfed? Really? And Roman Empire still dominate the Mediterranean?

Totally and absolutely.

You mean you have been seriously comparing current states of barebones game with very slow development with one that have four times the content because it have been developed faster and longer
-
Damn Santa Claus, now even shells want to be him
-
I tried. 7/8 hits in Amagi was in its smokestack, seriously i never saw such perfect shells convergence.

You trolling or you seriously don't see a slight difference between 5 year old game and a (not so) new one which is seriously lacking everything?
-

Retreating, like a sir cockroach. Do anyone even remember when the german BB's were expected when serious talk first started? Zero surprise then when we will get only 2 measly lines in a year. As i said before, 2016 will decide the fate of WoWs. Which seem not too bright after hearing such things as above answer.

So, that aim at the waterline mantra everyone was saying all the time turned out to be complete bogus?
-
Now, that's a BB that can headshot itself.
-
Does that matter? Even if they will be cosmically OP, teaboos still will be whining.

That looks painful. Another minus for WG shitbalancing ships by turret traverse, what was close to meaningless in real combat due to speed of the ships and length of engagement is crucial in WoWs (vide Warspite, Yamato etc.), where everything is speeded 5 times, but not the turret traverse.

Blind obeying the WoT model and the fact people like upgrading stuff in online game. But i would really like the option to upgrading ships, but having them visually only stay on stock. And this is yet another example of why you are mostly right, but your ideas are not viable in the context of this game. Not having upgrades to the ships would intantly make them underpowered, unless they would have unplausible buffs, but that wouldn't be good too. And this one here would crap on the MM in the worst case, and in the reality (actually i do like the idea of fluid ship tiers) WG would never even attempt something like this, because way simpler things are impossible for them.* *Like buffing the Mikasa or joining accounts or unifying events.

Karlsruhe was really bad before the buff (no idea like it is now, but not really dangerous as opponent, so i guess the buff wasn't huge), but it was at least short. Tell me when you got to tier 8-9 and THERE you will encounter something crappy.

South Carolina class was scrapped due to Washington Treaty and not modernised. Kawachi class was disarmed for the same reason. That's tier 3. On tier 4 we have Wyoming class which was modernised along the newer ships till the end of WW2. Myogi haven't existed, but for balance reasons it also get the fictional but realistic refit to the unbuilt ship. Nassau won't get refit for balance reasons, because no other tier 3 BB have it (although here i would agree with you, tier 3 should get AA refits). And 4+ BB will, because seriously anyone at all doubt they would have been refited if they existed in the interwar period? Plus, anyone would want to fight stock 4,5,6 tier against upgaded ones?
