You mean it don't look like that all the time?

A message directed to WG about 0.4.1 and Mods... is this really true?
Vanhal replied to Tsukotaku's topic in General Discussion
Wasn't answered though. Of course, devs have no obligation to read the forum, so it's good to repeat important questions sometimes, more chance for them to read it in the flood of posts. -
A message directed to WG about 0.4.1 and Mods... is this really true?
Vanhal replied to Tsukotaku's topic in General Discussion
You should write this post at the beginning. There wouldn't be an issue at all, also no "typical WG" comments, as this is fully satisfactory and clear answer. Only some questions arise. Most urgent of them would be: - In case you decide to left files encrypted and provide mod tools (mod tools in WG game? that would be big step ahead), would you let some categories of the mods entirely open, without need for approval? Of course i meant the textures, (as i somehow don't imagine things forbidden on forum could been approved in game) that way you would't need to have any troubles with it or with copyright issues - something like the various Elder Scrolls mods, all made using official modding tools, but Bethesda is not responsible for anything created that way by players. -
What is with this forum nowadays? I open the "joke" thread and there were no jokes. Now i wanted some nuts, and there are no nuts... Must fix that... ... here you go:

Any news on when the skillships will be nerfed? (CVs)
Vanhal replied to fenrirspup's topic in General Discussion
Hmm, interesting. I was at Independence at most, but the boredom is not tie to the number of squadrons for me. Just watching dots and icons from above make it unbearable. I finished playing Harpoon 20 years ago, don't felt like coming back, ever. -
Full list of 0.4.1 ship changes from PTS (including undocumented changes)
Vanhal replied to CloakingDonkey's topic in General Discussion
Now that's interesting. By itself it's good news, as i was doubting my sanity when i don't really felt any change in rudder shift on PT, but half of the forum gone bonkers with "OMG DD are useless now" and "this game is crap now" and so on. Nice confirmation bias. Edit: Battleships don't need faster rudder shift, they need faster turret traverse. -

MM is weird ATM. 1. Idk for others, but no level of OPness (be it real or false, it's not the point in this particular issue) would make me to play the carriers. I tried them quite a few times, after every change in alpha and closed beta. Even having great battle (dmg wise) i was falling asleep during the first half of the battle. I can say i was very interested in carriers when i first got to play, but the utterly horrible implementation of carriers is negating exactly all pleasure of playing. And i fairly like the rts genre. Unless they are removed and implemented totally anew with entire concept changed (and it won't) i'm never touching them for serious play (maybe just occasional check when the port slots will be at discount). 2. Cleveland perfectly balanced... sure, whatever you say. 3. Initial BB rush has already faded, great majority of players play in cruisers now, but... 4. ... MM seems to have minimal BB numbers necessary to start a battle, so i constantly see 3-4 tier battleships placed with 5-7 tier cruisers. Seems that the average cruiser tier is higher than average BB tier. 5. DD matchmaking is total bollocks. US DD are weak as hell, 90% of what i see are IJN, and the MM throws them totally at random, no tier or team equalizing. Sometimes no DD in one and 5 in other team, sometimes 5 per side, sometimes none at all. -
I would rather not, seems like bad stuff. But... increased upkeep cost as incentive for aggressive play? That's total opposite, i would rather recommend reducing the cost, lots of people at higher tiers avoid any danger exactly because sinking means huge hole in credits. In WoT (idk about WoWp) and WoWs. Various test servers is proving this time and time again, when people don't have to worry about credits, they get much more aggressive than on live servers.
-
We are also punished for liking ships and not planes or tanks with way higher prices of premiums. So it fits the overall picture.
-
That's possible, but why would they do that? Doubt it's matter of money, although after seeing the premium pricing in WoWs monetizing the few existing mods don't seem unrealistic. Modding tool? That would need lot of effort. Considering that the game development is slow and that encrypting the client points at less effort with potential mod issues than just removing the unwanted ones, it's highly unlikely. But we never know, at this point confusion is at it's peak.
-
- Of course, at least i did. First, this now can't be really called beta, it's at most early access, with paid content up, servers open to anyone and no more wipes. Besides, first mods were up in alpha phase (yup, it was IJN flag as one of the first, if not very first mod, which led to cosiderable lessening of tension on forum, as it was one of the major issues back then). - I wouldn't really call it pestilence, as it by no means at all removed total reliance on player skills, merely upped both the skill floor and ceiling, not that it's hard anyway, with pre-nerfed ship agility it more or less negated itself. Although that said, i was also in favour of removing it, for the sake of order. So as said all the time, i'm not against WG banning mods they want to ban, but i am absolutely against blocking ALL the mods. - You have a point there, and if they explained they want to block the mods FOR SOME TIME (like one of two patches, that would give them 2-4 months of no-mod data) i would not object, at least not that hard, as cosmetic mod block is always senseless. However they just put that in our throat with secrecy. BTW. it is too late for that now. - Again, lumping all mods in "cancer" however we may differ at the interpretation of this, is just plain wrong (i should probably prepare some copypasta about that, as it seems to be recurring over and over). - Idk what it does mean at all, especially "kill that thing". If you means cheats, by all means, let them, it IS their game. But they are killing creativity and initiative and genuine passion. THAT is the mistake here (again indiscriminate blocking). - Absolutely irrelevant. People likings should not be any argument in discussion. Like ponies? By all means, no problem. But force another to like ponies or force another to not like ponies, that is the childish behaviour. And i always have the notion that russian oppresiveness is not a good thing to imitate. Yes, i didn't believed you back then, but it seems you have been right about the cheat existing. On the other hand, it's exclusiveness meant that % of players using it is most probably statistically irrelevant. - True. - Not actually true, some staff supported the distinction back in the original aim mod shitstorm, but they were lynched with the rest by the angy anti mod mob. - Idk, i can understand they don't want the info about cheats to spread, because they would look bad then and the mob would converge again. On the other hand such secrecy always sooner or later come to the light and now they are looking even worse. As always, honest and open discussion is the best, but we never had that from WG in the past 5 years. - Not into your house, but into your SHOP. That's distinct difference, as far as the metaphor go. Unfortunately, WG did nothing when the majority of the clients lynch the mod makers, and this block can be read as supporting of the lynch. - Legitimate point of view, but again the "acceptation" issue that from it's very nature WILL cause some highly relevant and not harmful mods not appear. - Instead of implementing the anti cheat system (including both mods like the aim mod and outside programs) they indiscrimantely ban all mods. That is rather clear declaration of intent. - Me too. I still don't fully believe, as such clip is not enough (would need clip or other proof from clearly more reliable source), but i'm inclined to believe the issue is back.
-
Hmm, i have an idea. Everyone know the first two tier of BB's are terribad, so maybe WG should make those on tiers I and II (for the sake of tradition) and make III and IV tiers actually fun and usable like V and VI are now (except New York, it is no fun, although usable)?
-
Well, that looks more convincing than the previous one and this is actual aimbot, not just indicator like the one before (btw. freaking ugly mess instead of HUD). Still does not explain nor justify blocking of all mods. If that is mod (very doubtful, considering it is not everywhere yet), blocking it should be again quite easy. If it's not a mod but overaly program, encrypting files don't do a crap.

- In other words, lots of bad experiences with WG. I doubt you could understand that. - It means what i want it to means. He is not liar, he must works with what he get from higher ups. Anyone following WG history of communicating with the players know that the higher ups are notoriously unreliable and sometimes they lie (or at best change their minds after the info without correcting it, so it's basically same as lies). Unless you are the proverbial scissors on the table, but while it's no matter for me personally, it's even worse for us all. Doubt it though. - I never called WG bigots, but they again never told us any reason, not that they are obliged to. They can do even gravest mistakes, it's their right. It's also mine to warn them they are doing mistake, no matter if the paranoid mob say otherwise and express joy over their own loss. Who i called bigots are... bigots. I explained this few times already. And it's not about agreeing with WG, but obvious lack of thought and paranoid delusions and few other things. Also i never sid anyone he should STFU, i derived that from your treating WG words as Word of God - you of course choose only what you like and didn't even understand implication of the rest. That's even funny and probably the only reason i am writing this post, as talking with you is utterly pointless lost of time, as you just twist 1/10 of what was written and just ignore the rest. That's even beyond bigotry. Oh, and i do think supertesters are dishonest, exactly three of them - two for blindness in the case of CV's (but that's totally unrelated story, not even one of the two said anything bad about the mods), and that one who leaked the data of not yet released client. Which is NDA breach, so its good to know who you are defending before another one of your knee-jerks aimed at empty space. Waiiit, that would meant that you are not blind WG apologist, your are just blind mod hater. No, really hilarious, but tiring, like the prayer to a stone. Anyway, i will be ending this, because you will undoubtly say some more bollocks as usual and ignore everything. And rougly translating a quote: "in the gentlemen's vocabulary there are no suitably insulting words than can be used to acurately describe your behavior". So, Russians getting some vague promise. Fast for a WG, although i would be interested in the terms and when EU modders would be offered similar proposition. With every doubt about the "accepted mods" still standing.

Opinion regarding the released German cruiser line
Vanhal replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I think he meant Deutschland as a cruiser. Although tier VII would be kinda too high too, considering lack of speed and armor. Would need high RoF and possibly nice torps to be considered. Otherwise, tentatively... 6? Not compared to Cleveland of course. Once upon a time speculations said about tier 8-9, which is my source of worry orginally. As battleship... idk. Perhaps 4. With torps and (that is a must) some buffed angling ability it would be nice match for Myogi. Not for Wyoming though, unless Deutschland RoF would be a serious business. -
I've got three (minor though) issues: 1. Middle island on Solomon Islands are a little too big, it's getting cramped at the side passages. 2. Team division don't exactly worked on Hot Spot, and even the improved (much improved, the diagonal crap almost always lead to roflstomping of 1/4 players) version is still awkward. 3. The Strait colours are kinda weird. Overall i am happy, but i would like to see at least one new map in every major patch, as lack of variety in this department is one of the most pressing problems of the game. Thanks for improving the old maps though, good work.

And how is the cancelling attack and turning on a dime effect? Still working like before or fixed?
-
That in itself is showing some considerable hype in the anti-hype thread But i will more or less agree with your entire post. What i would really like to see is some compilation of results from few dozen games and the Tirpitz credit generation abilities - without premium.

Why use Mods in a Beta game or any Game
Vanhal replied to Zombewarrior's topic in General Discussion
If you have any knowledge (proof would be best) about paid (or free) cheats and hacks, please immediately report this through ticket or PM to administration. TIP: "he sunk me and i don't like this" is not proof of the cheating or hacking. As for now, not counting the dealed aim mod every hack or cheat was false alarm. So there are no cheats and hacks currently in game. Thank you for attention. -
It would probably require some serious reworking of spotting system: 1. Most of the xp in current system would go to carriers anyway, especially on higher tiers. 2. Some ships (battleships mostly) have so big range of being spotted that the xp dividing would be very diluted or very arbitrary. 3. This is not WoT, spotting mechanic is different so this would immensely favour the DD, especially they themselves are way harder to spot than light tanks, there are no bushes and light tanks don't carry weapons that could obliterate anyone with one hit (salvo). Or it would be divided for all spotting ships, which is not bad idea by itself. But it's good idea, especially if the xp and credits would be additional reward for the spotter and not taken from the damager pool.
