AFT or manual AA for AA cruisers?!
BrusilovX replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
While WG are adjusting the game mechanics I'd hope that the period for a free captain respec. would be extended (I'm not sure how long it was supposed to last for - I thought a week or so). -
I'm sure some suitably resounding music soundtrack will be used. Meanwhile, the details of the BBs were under a NDA but Jingles has posted some details of the ships (radar on a BB - don't panic it can only pick up other BBs and CVs)... Edited: It was BBs not DDs...

Can shima challenge the meta?
BrusilovX replied to anonym_RGvUdEcxWWvD's topic in General Discussion
Yes, I understand the bit about the torps being harder to spot - I have one myself (both a Shimakaze and a Asashio). I used to try to play the Asashio like a normal DD taking caps and spotting and also taking the opportunity to send torps into areas the enemy ships were hiding or likely to be. I mostly played the Asashio for the LOLs but I don't really like torps that can only hit BBs and CVs - if it was a gunboat then that would be another matter but then it would be OP. But since the CV rework and hotfix I've not taken either out in a random game - I had PTSD the other day after I took out my Sims and was given the attention of a Ryoko for the whole game it wasn't fun (and I can't see the point of a DD that keeps back with the cruisers. -

Going by those results (a replay may help) I don't think it's tweaking you need to do it's a rethink. I dread to think how many credits you lost in that game. What Major_Damage225 posted makes sense but the Asashio doesn't really have any AA and the enemy CV would make a mess of you if they decided to hunt you. Since the CV rework I've finally decided ot only take out DDs that have some AA to defend yourself with. -
Manipulation on world of warships gameplay
BrusilovX replied to kinarosamor's topic in General Discussion
But that is true of most if not all BBs that are left at the end of a game against a DD will be able to do very much about it if the DD player knows how to keep their distance (and doe snot need to engage the target). There was one such battle where in my Alabama I caught sight of the enemy DD going off into the distance and fired off a salvo at it after it went from vision- surprisingly I hit it and we won the battle. But that was just luck. Just because the other team had those ships in a division does not make them good players. I've seen numerous BB divisions sail off to the one cap where our two DDs were not contesting to end up being taken out. -
Unless you want to have a way to speed up training of a German captain. At the moment with the CV rework and tweeking I'd honestly stay away from any DD that isn't an AA specialist and even then I'd think twice about using it. I had a battle in my T7 Sims the othe day and the T6 IJN CV Ryoko decided it was going to ruin my battle by sending planes over me again and again. I managed to dodge most of the torps dropped but has less luck with the rockets despite zig-zagging and changing speed. Also getting shot at by a coupe of cruisers and a BB that was in the area. I did shoot down 24 planes and did fire one set of torps (sea mines) at a Yorck that came out form behind an island 7.5km from me) but I was never in a position to fire the guns at anything.

I agree with that. Also,, I presume that in order to see the names (apart from getting very close to them) the UI would need to be changed to show the ship name as well as the player name? I don't think showing ship names rather than player names would be sensible as if there was team damage it would be really hard to work out which player it was if just the ship name was shown.

burning dubloons without knowing that ( ! )
BrusilovX replied to remenberMYname's topic in General Discussion
I agree that there should be a global setting of "don't use dubloons" for refills of camo or flags. But this has been around for a while now and while it is a pain to do so I check that this option hasn't been changed from being unchecked to checked. -
Taking down all of the posts calling for the removal of the CV update doesn't make the people change their minds
BrusilovX replied to Shlomo_Ishtov's topic in General Discussion
I think it's that people insist on having their own thread and filling up the forum with too many threads on the same topic. There are enough thread around still. -
[ poll ] Giulio Cesare, you want her to stay in T5 or move to T6?
BrusilovX replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
You've ignored the other bits where I mentioned that mitigate against the GC having an impact. If they change a premium ship that players have bought for real money then WG need to refund that money and not give dubloons (unless the owner is happy to get them). If WG are not happy with the performance of a ship they need to introduce improved ways to test ships before they are released or just listen to the super testers or CCs. -
A solution to all issues - Double Random games
BrusilovX replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
I don't agree with the OPs proposal. Anyone wanting to improve their W/L ratio would simply opt for the 'newbies' group. If WG don't want to restrict the MM to a single tier (due to impact on queue time) this will just reduce the pool of players available in queue. -

As it's been removed from the shop (although as was pointed out elsewhere the GC was still available in the Xmas loot boxes) they should leave it alone (yes, I did buy one with real money on release). When I've played T5 battles I only ever see one or two on the teams so it's not as if everyone is playing them all the time. Maybe just exclude them from any T5 ranked series - no need to change it then. It's not as if it's a TX ship that affects CB or anything else. -
I was born in 1959..... I honestly don't expect a DD to take down an attack maybe just disrupt it a bit (this was what the old CV gameplay did). The only thing I did in that game was to shoot down 24 of the Ryoko's planes -I did fire off some torps against a cruiser at 7km (it came out from behind an island although it had been spotted in the area before) but was never able to get close to the enemy ships to fire. The enemy CV was able to send planes back so fast I could no relocate fast enough to not be spotted again. For me the only place to play a DD now is in Co-op, ranked or scenario battles.

On my laptop the '~' key is three keys to the right of the 'L' key (and a row down and three keys from the 'O' key).

I was in a battle in my Sims last night and that was the problem for me - I thought I was switching the AA sectors to match the planes while attempting to move out of the way of torp hits (which I mostly did) but had less luck with the rocket attacks. This was against a T6 Ryoko which had decided to make my game a misery. In the end the T7 Lexington finished me off with a final rocket attack. I did attempt to switch the AA sector but the planes were able to attack from the other side way too quickly for me. I also found at least once the attack planes just vanished without trace (my AA stopped firing) and then reappeared.

As others have posted players need a break from games every now and then especially if they are going through a bad spell. For me, personally, I had a multi month break several years ago but have been playing regularly for the last year or so (taking a break from Diablo III for seven months or so). I must admit the days since the CV rework was very trying and I can understand why many need a break from the game. I had some games where both CVs decided to go for me - I was able to dodge multiple torp attacks but there is only so much that you can keep dodging as the moving the AA sector does take time and the CVs we attacking from one flank and then immediately the other and I was no where near the border either. I've been avoiding playing DDs as having to be near other ships for AA cover removes the old purpose of DDs - spotting and capping. I was even contemplating taking out a CV (I only have a low number of games in them as I did not enjoy the RTS game style). I'm hoping that the hotfix may have improved things. The few games I played today were not as bad as the previous days but that may be because I went an hid in co-op (where the AI does not get a CV when there is one on the player's team).

I think that for many players the lack of any rewards for testing are the main reason they won't do any testing. The reward of some flags and premium time could induce some players into doing so. However, it's not as if WoWS is being developed by a small community team it's being done so by a wealthy games company. Maybe the way to get the volumes of players involved in testing is to run a period of time on the live servers where progress and achievements are retained. In addition for the test period everyone gets premium time - if you already had premium then it would be extended by the period that the test period. This test period would only happen after WG have completed tests on the PTS.

The servers have been struggling recently. Yesterday I was trying to get into a random battle (with 26.5K players on-line with no indication what game mode they are all in) and I was prevented twice from joining battle by a 'Server busy' message. The outage is tomorrow morning starting sometime around 4am to 5am (I didn't take that much notice as I'm usually asleep at the time).

This has happened to me twice this evening trying to get into a random battle. It seems as if it's not been fixed. There were about 26.5K players 'on-line but that does not mean they were in randoms.

Update set camo to be purchased & CV change
BrusilovX replied to AllterEg0's topic in General Discussion
Yes, maybe they had just played an IJN DD and was ROFL stomped by a pair of CVs so they're having PTSD. If there is too much information on screen or it's poorly worded then people will miss it - not everyone. I've read several threads on this over time and ever since I read the first one I try to double-check the resupply on camos and flags. -
If that was the case I'd be working for WG In Marketing.....

Maybe it's a Jekyll and Hyde thing. Or maybe people waking up from a vodka binge and making decisions.
-
Yes, especially if it was bought with real money and did not come in a container of some sort.
-
Like most customer support teams they can be helpful at times and resolve issues for the customers. In my experience WG CS is more miss than hot though. The stock answers that sometimes have nothing to do with the query are annoying. I even had a response once that was clearly supposed to be directed back at another ticket. It's the lack of quality control (like most things they do) that drops the company down in many player's expectations.

Apparently the "HotFix" for some of the most burning v0.8.0 CV (and other) issues is coming very soon!
BrusilovX replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well, with the IJN DDs the spotting distance from the air can be down to 2.8km. They don't have very good AA so it's best to simply avoid the planes. But I guess WG has been apparently trying to kill off IJN DDs for years.
