    Smoke

If you can't spot them, so they can't spot you too from the smoke. But if someone else from the enemy team is postting you then that DD will see you too.

    Update 0.3.1.2

I will quote myself. They are still searching the reason (as from yesterday), but that's the main priority and there will be hotfix as soon as they solve it.

    Update 0.3.1.2

I'm just watching the stream with Vlegris. He is the guy when it comes to balance. So he says they are changing it, because it's leading to too big difference between good players and bad players. The good ones can land all torps and deal massive damage, while the bad one miss most of them with such small spreads and that's leading to stats that are very OP for the good players or very UP for the bad players. It's WG, noob protection all the way Btw he said that the turning speeds got overbuffed yeah, nice experiment, but it failed, they will fix it. Also the HE will get nerfed damage, but the fire chance will stay (fire is not bad). APs will ge some buff, because the angle for ricochet is extreme now, making the APs very hard to use.

    [Basics] Spotting mechanics

I was not 100% sure, so I had to ask too. It doesn't. Visually it can be a big cloud, but the mechanical smoke (this 450m circle) will spawn over and over again on the same plance if you don't move. So that's pretty ineffective tactic. There is no open data about that. Yes there are tiny differences, but it's not noticeable ingame. Also 1 squadron will spot another (of any type) from 8km. It dependes. It can see further away, but if that further is more then 4km it needs clear line of sight, while the others don't. About the range - again no open data. Even if it increases it's hardly noticeable ingame.

    Unsatisfied customer

I played the last patch on ultrabook (not even notebook) while I was away. ULV core i5 and HD 4000. The fps was ~40 on minimal settings. Pretty damm playable, even WoT is ~30fps there. That could have changed with the last patch (many new stuff), but they will make it playable on lower settings in the future patches, now even my PC is having problems with the long loading times for example.

    Solutions to the CV meta

You are proposing buff to IJN CVs - that's unfair. They have weak AA and can be easily be sunked by other IJN with strike loadout easily if they are alone. That's why they should move with the others and not spot behind island. Essex can kill Shokaku too, BUT that;s tier 9, we can't compare them! All other USN CVs have only up to 1 TB squadron and can't sink CV with it. USN CVs on the other hand have pretty amazing AA (Ranger,Lex,Essex) for their tier and it's easy to survive the enemy attakc. Yes you will lose hp, maybe even 50% of it, but that's 4 min wasted for the enemy CV and 4 more if he is going to strike again - 2/3 or at least 1/2 of the battle - is it worth it? And that's the case bomber vs bomber, if the american is with fighters good luck getting near it (if the player is avarage and above). So I see nothing broken - in the last patch (0.3.0.X) all CVs had fighters + TBs and very good AA, so it was very very rare to attack the other CV. Now it's adding tactical depth as taking out CVs is in single attack possible, but hard to pull of of course. CVs should adapt and stop parking behind islands for the whole game. The fighters are broken, because they are not rewarding the player with exp and credits, so he can grind his ship. If they had more exp for shooting down armed attacked planes and AP bombs on their DBs to make damage to BBs and earn more exp it would be worth it, now it's not that the bomber setups are better or OP. They just give the exp now if you want to grind that line.

    Update 0.3.1.2

Well 15% buff for fighters is killing 3 IJN squadrons instead of 2.5. If it's Lexington with Air superiority (+1 fighter) 2 squadrons can kill 7 IJN bomber squadrons and go for reload. About the HE - they say the version is just 2 weeks old, too early to say. They will make changes based on feedback and server stats, but they will give it enough time first to be representative.

[suggestion/s] about plane setups on carriers

This damage in the stats is not the damage the torps do to ships. The higher tier ships have anti torpedo protection, so the damage is ~3-4K in the middle of the ship with more on the bow/ster sections. The avarage damage from the whole wave with the criticals is ~6.5K per torp. Also the DBs are not so bad with their manual drop. They can score up to 3 hits (from 5) against BBs and CVs. Between 40% and 60% accuracy is not really so bad for them, more will make them very OP with the AP bombs that will come later (was tried already).
  12. Sharana

Defensive fire skill on the Yubari

That's right - 1 DP gun. The AA barrage is active for cruisers with DP guns. For now they give it to cruisers with 2+ DP guns. The captain's perk will just improve that AA barrage. If there is no such ability on this ship it's wasted perk (but premium CA, can be used for the regular t6+ captains).

    Update 0.3.1 American Battleships

You can't have 50B moving all the time in unpredictable pattern - it's target for arty, same with mediums and TDs. It's even worse vs TDs then Maus. But we are way off topic. Yes we should stop wasting our time. I like carriers a bit more then BBs, so when I'm in carrier I don't like the cruisers. But I have no immunity (in my USN/IJN CV) against them, so my planes can't panic and I'm free to have fun, while in N.Carolina/ Iowa I don't like CVs ... but I have no problems with them, so I can freely focus on other BBs and cruiser and have my fun, without being countered, only paying attention to DDs if they are near and that's pretty much all. I'm rarely attacked, because CVs fear that AA and when I'm attacked I lose minimal amount of hp and shoot down many planes, so they don't want to attack me again and go for another BB. That's all that is wrong with those 2 ships.

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

I'm sorry, you claim to be qualified to speak out about it, but what you explain as situation is not from WoWs I know and I'm part of this good CV's group. 15 TBs - there are no such carriers ingame. Ibuki has to press 1 magical button and max 4 torps will hit you even if you are afk. Iowa's AA is 4.9km with 2.9km extremely deadly. Outside the AA (5km away) is 15 seconds flytime (how much can you turn in 15 sec?) to your ship, drop and another 15 seconds flytime back out of the AA area. That's enough to kill ~20 Essex planes. Btw you should focus them to boost your damage output by 1.5 times. If you don't it's your problem, not Iowa's AA. If you turn away from them they have to reposition - 5 seconds delay is between 3 and 5 planes less... Also WoWs playerbase will be the same as WoT, don't expect miracles. 0.01% are Unicums, 1% are great, 5% are very good. Balancing the game to their level will make this class unplayable for the rest 90%+ of the players. And we are pretty close to that point btw - small amount of CV players (relative to the playerbase) make them work and generate forum material, but the rest are having bad results and just give up.

    Some questions regarding the carriers

Flooding damage is from 0.66%hp/sec for low tier ships to 0.12%hp/sec for high tier ships and with anti torpedo protection. So when attacking mid to high tier BBs it would be up to ~ 0.25%hp/sec. Damage from fires is constant on all tiers, just the chance gets lower. 0.3%hp/sec (0.4 for CVs) and the fires stack! 3 DBs squadrons will almost always start between 1-3 fires - thats 0.3% to 0.9% hp/sec. You get more damage over time even with 1 fire, but you can start more, so you can get 2 or even 3-4 times more damage overtime if you make good manual DB attack.

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

I find it very hard to argue with people who either don't have battles in CVs at all, or have only few in tier 4 or 5 and they know what's possible and what's not. The reality of 0.3.1 is that you can't 1shot the same tier BB even with 12 torps if the RNG is not on your side with nice damage rolls (rare), you will leave it ~10K hp. But that's stuck or afk target. You will never drop 12 torps with nasty manual attack if that BB is evading at least a bit and even if you drop 10 you can't expect to score more then 8/10 if you are good and the target is not evading good. It's not that I don't play BBs too and when I take 6/12 and repair it's something like only 30-40% of my total hp gone. But I know exactly when to turn and fool the CV attacking me. For example I should start turning the rudder so it's just not showing visually yet, so he can't adjust his attack and get surprised after he can't abort already. Such kind of small tricks are the BB's skill in dealing with planes and minimising the damage taken, not magically turning away from them. Also if it's the case with 3TBs then this CV is pure glascannon defenseless against fighters focused only in nuking BBs out of the water. And Combination of 3TBs and 3DBs can 1shot (1 attack in 2 waves) and kill the same tier BB if it's alone, but torps alone can't and that's hardly bad for the game. Only the good player will do it (unlike arty in WoT) and it's rare. if there is statistic about why you sunk in your BB then the planes will be somewhere between fires from fast firing USN DDs and ammo detonation. If you die to planes every 2-3 games then the problem should be with you, not with the game. Also Iowa is Iowa with the last hull, with captain on the AA skills (pretty much everyone has them) and the AA upgrades for the ship (there aren't other useful upgrades). If that's the case and you still have problems with planes in your Iowa you either play another version of WoWs or you don't even try to turn away from them and focus them squadron by squadron...

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

What does "no chance" mean? If that's vacuum 1vs1 situation only DD will have chance and that's not sure at all. Simply because the CV will launch 3-5 attacks before getting spotted. Lonely BB will take damage, but won't be 1shotted and a good BB can minimise that damage a lot. If many players can then it's not impossible, is it? If you lose 40 to 50% of your health (after the repair) it's nothing critical and you shouldn't have been completely alone.
  18. It's 2 months for DD, 4 for CA and 6 for BB/CV. That's the models of course, there are also other jobs. There are of course many teams making ships and it's constantly going process, but you can take WoT as reference. How long did it took them to make new lines after the intial 3?

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

Well it seems there is nothing more to add, we've shown our opinions and they will hardly be changed. I will just add that you are trying to reverse back to the periods where that was already tried (and was supposed to be final). CVs were pretty simple and the skill was exactly what you said - set the attack angles (so much skill). You can ask the old alpha players of a period called "Essex - The Death Star" and they can explain you what can avarage bob do and can even the best CV player do better (or worse for that matter). That was completely broken gameplay and the CVs concept was totally revised leading to the introduction of the manual drop and skill element along with many nerfs to the planes (removal of AP boms, nerfed to the ground accuracy of DBs, boosted AA and so on). This total rework of the CVs pushed back the timelines for the CBT start. And yet you want to reverse everything they did in the past 8 months to get away from the pre manual drop situation...

Hotspot :- fundamentally unfair to carriers?

Well it's the same on the RU. They say how good the concept of X spawn and cooperation is, DDs agree, CAs and BBs are mostly neutral (not a bad map, but normal spawns would probably be better), while 99% of the CVs say that's as funny as Himmelsdorf for arty or Malinovka for Maus, but you see it every 2-3 battles on the high tiers
  21. Sharana

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

You don't have tier 8+ BBs and tier 7+ CVs, so you can't really claim that the manual drop is problem there and should be removed. I claim that without manual drop the CVs tier7+ are not worth the slot in the team and dream of "[edited]" removed will come to life. I'm not hiding behind "l2p nub". But before you say remove the manual drop please go up to tier 8 CV, play ~30-50 battles to feel the balance and come back to claim they would be fine with auto attacsk only. Alpha damage is the damage you can inflict to the target and that means what's NOT avoided. We don't need theoretical datas, if the BB's can evade 50% more torps on avarage that means the CVs alpha is nerfed 2 times. Very simple, you won't be targeting afk or stuck ships to use your "theoretical alpha" of X damage x Y torps. The skill and tactic right now is to EVADE THE PLANES not the torpedoes in the water, you can't do that when they are dropped near the ship. You simply want easy time when you can dodge even after the torps are in the water (like some low tier USN BBs can), but the point is that good captains can evade many torps even now. With the changes you suggest they will be almost untouchable from air, BB's paradise.

    Update 0.3.1 American Battleships

Then why do you give examples with different classes in WoT? And example with classes where 1 is clearly in better position. If you compare LT to HT and MT to HT then use something like TD vs HT. They have variety sure, but both AMX 50B and Maus are targets for TDs and SPGs. It's not like one of them is with invisible shield against TDs or SPGs (pick one again)...

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

I'm sorry, but you should read better - I said high tiers. You probably don't know as you don't have such ships, but they don't turn like DDs there, they compensate that with stronger AA. The lower tier ships have bad AA, so they turn really fast and that can safe them. Changing the turning speed won't change too much, because the auto attacks were easy to avoid with the last speeds too. The overall damage potential of CVs is fine, it's not out of line - you suggest that their alpha strike is too much. Fine the way to balance alpha (that I say again was nerfed this patch, no more torp 1shots on the same tier) is dpm. The planes have to deal 2x less damage, but fly 2x times faster. Are you sure you can imagine that or is it going to be good idea when they come, drop and leave while the BB is just about to press Q or E on the keyboard...

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

If he will have 10 sec warning AFTER the torps are in the water he will evade big part of them, while the good player will evade 100% of them. How should they get damaged by CVs in such situation? Also there is no such thing as instant dead if it's not the RNG case. The same tier CV (even japanese in strike setup) can't 1shot the same tier BB with torps as before. If it's 2 tiers up than tha's not mechanic's problem. Players have to learn and and that can be frustating sometimes, but everyone is passing that point. Who is playing the higher tiers - only the good players while the bad players play low tiers, or players who already adapted to the WoWs gameplay? When you start playing higher tiers you will realise that removing the manual drop is the same as removing the CVs from tier 7 up as that's the only way to deal some normal damage, because 2-3 torp hits for 3-4K(anti torpedo protection) every 3 minutes is simply waste of slot and playtime. What's better - skill race or RNG and insane damage per torp hit, so that auto attacks are still threat on the higher tiers?
  25. Sharana

plane dropped torpedo's are a little op

Well I'm sorry, but you just don't have enough battles to claim fundamental things, alone in CVs and in something high tier - 8+. The concept problem with arty in WoT is not the fact it can shoot and do damage. The problem is it's random - the RNG will say you hit or no and for how much, not your skill + there is nothing you can do other then hide behind rock. Which good player wants to be wrecked by a really bad one only with RNG? It's also punishing active play. What are the CVs here? Well it's not random, but purely skill based - the better is the player the more damage (unavoidable) he will deal to the target. Also the better is the BB the more damage he will evade - as simple as that - can you call that bad game balance just because finally some skill is involved? Second there are lot of things you can do - from evasive maneuvers (and my BBs can pull them off even with the old maneuverability, simply because I know how CVs work and what/when should I do) to fleet cooperation with other BBs for combined AA and cruiser with his magical AA shield. Arty in WoT will be happy to see 3 HTs near ech other, while the CVs will better move away or attack and deal less damage + lose some planes. Or can medium tank provide instant arty umbrella? Also the CVs punish not active play where the BBs are on the front line covered by cruisers, but passive sniping BBs on their max range that are not protected. Now add the facts that there is limited amount of planes and the fighters are great at protecting against TBs. I just can't see how can you compare WoT's arty fundamentals to the CV's fundamentals only based on their range and ability to do damage without taking such. It's clear that WG gave it a thought and it's nothing like the so much hated arty. For me it's the same as snipers in fps games for example - the avarage bob doesn't want to be killed by something he can't see and "retaliate" so he will whine against such mechanics. It should be only fair duels...
