WG's "big" WoWS LAUNCH DAY stream a big flop?
LMN118 replied to Trigger_Happy_Dad's topic in General Discussion
Probably through reddit and facebook, neither of which are any interest to me. I might have watched the stream for free stuff but never saw the appeal to watch some random [edited] play a game I have myself. -
WG's "big" WoWS LAUNCH DAY stream a big flop?
LMN118 replied to Trigger_Happy_Dad's topic in General Discussion
Didn't even know there were streams. Only knew there was a special on because of the X3 and then had to search the internets to why it was on, no launcher news, no website news just silence but the event activated anyway. These people really fail at their jobs. -
Why I must pay dubloons for selling my ship?
LMN118 replied to Sky_Bandit's topic in General Discussion
It is very annoying, and underhand way of doing things. -
Why? Nothing changed that would require a wipe.

It does have a concealment around the same as its range though. like a lot of fragile ships or ships with low range (Destroyers. Kawachi etc). Pro Vs Cons should decide it: Pros: High rate of fire Good traverse rate Good AA coverage High concealment (matches range of main battery) Torpedoes Cons: Low damage per shot HE only Very high trajectory of main battery shells makes leading targets a little more difficult No citadel armour, so prone to any AP rounds Good change of a magazine detonation Loses turrets very easily Slow rudder shift I like it, not because it is over powered but because you have to use different tactics with it. Somebody mentioned earlier about it killing a full health New Mexico, that's really their fault for letting one get close, you have around 11km to take one out and if you let it in torpedo range well the fault is yours and a destroyer could just as easily have killed you.. It takes a lot of hits to damage Battleships in fact for the most part it feels like you are tickling them.

ranked battles over rated, and Beta will be here for many years.
LMN118 replied to GrimWristler's topic in General Discussion
Except not even individual skill is constant. Winrate as a determination of "skill" is affected by too many variables. An aggregate based on personal values would have been an intelligent way to do things. Since you are talking of ranked battles most people would assume you are ranked by player skills but all it is you can achieve a rank in essentially smaller random battles. -
I would disagree, in fact I would say most of them are not worth it. At least the ones you can buy. The exception perhaps being the Murmansk which is OP, hence why it's a stat padders ship of choice next to the Grem. The Atlanta is quite nice, the Atago is very meh (not used it but killed plenty of them), the Ishi is a waste of money as are the other lower tier ships.

They didn't fix it, all they did was match the carriers like that was the only problem with the MM.

Account unification, doubloons not to be shared between titles.
LMN118 replied to Tobblish's topic in General Discussion
I was also under the impression things would be shared? I doubt there is any technical things to be sorted out and the economy is not an issue in a game like this. It's fairly clear its about money, if gold was unified then they would have less of an income (in theory). More concerned by this [edited]: But other Premium ships are? I purchased doubloons to buy the premium time and to purchase a good tier 8 ship and lo and behold more money grabbing rears its ugly head (although this is not the first time this has happened i.e Lowe). Rare and Special? Really? So rare being thrown into a tier 8 match with 3+ Tirpitz's a side. -
UK was the fifth or sixth place for game revenues next to Germany. Despite having much smaller populations than the US and China. So yeah too small I don't think so. WG is undeniably more popular in Russia and Russia spends far less on gaming. Since this is technically the EU region you would add all income from all the EU countries so its not insignificant and as already posted I bet many people from the EU mainland would like to see the RN in the game as well. A supertester said it took 5-6 months for one model, I would suggest they stop commenting on something they know nothing about. Unfortunately this is WG, development including balancing and content is always done at a snails space. I don't know for sure but I'm betting the WoWs team is pretty small.

So, anyone managed to use the fighter ability efficiently?
LMN118 replied to ShockPirat's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Used it for the first time today, took out one USA plane the two fighter squadrons moved out the way to the sides flew in behind my fighters who were still flying in a straight line shooting air and killed them. Waste of time, then again I should probably just AFK in my Zuiho anytime I am up against a fighter Bogue. -
This game is eating the dirt already..
LMN118 replied to anonym_T3XTXn9riZRR's topic in General Discussion
Games generally don't vary greatly just because of the seasons, or specific holidays relating to one country. It is currently peak time and the game still has 27K on so that is not too bad at all. If it still has that in a month then perhaps there is some life in it. Games usually have a population spike at Open Beta/Early Access. Good games retain that population over time, so no I wouldn't expect more players to arrive. Those people already interested in the game are here already, you may get a trickle of people trying out free games but with so many PC games on the market these days and with them being free or silly cheap due to constant sales it is unlikely the game will go gold and suddenly an extra 30,000 people will login. I suspect the developers of this project are well aware of that, and any potential decline. Hence why Premium ships are expensive but net very little gain and why the grind, especially in credits is exceptionally high in this game. -
First real rage-quit! How to overcome carrier abuse?
LMN118 replied to Slipz's topic in General Discussion
Generally speaking arty is far more difficult to achieve a kill unless the person you are aiming at is terrible. Sounds like you got hit by a carrier who knew what they were doing, which is fairly rare in itself. The other issue is that they have put a number of ships high up on the tier in their base configuration. So you end up going up against carriers with no anti air at all, (i.e. most of the Japanese battleships). It becomes better when you unlock the later hulls but even then anti-air fire is incredibly ineffective. I was under the impression it would disrupt torpedo accuracy but it actually doesn't. If its any consolation carriers have their own issues. Planes randomly stop what they are doing. Fighters won't fire at enemy planes and just stay in the same place and die. One single enemy boat launch causes the entire squadron to stop moving. The game has a number of issues. Unfortunately this is WG, they don't admit they've done something wrong so they seldom fix anything. -
Ships in divisions need to spawn closer together.
LMN118 replied to NoMoon's topic in General Discussion
Probably working as intended, the game really is anti-friends at the moment. Three player division is excluding friends from playing, so since they can't play all together they don't play at all losing potential customers and splittmg the division up is incredibly annoying and often wastes time regrouping. Add in that stupid map that splits your team up and it is incredibly frustrating. -
Is it just me or do the premium ships not really offer much in terms of reward over their leveling counterparts? I just played a couple games back to back in the Myogi and Ishizuchi and there was barely any difference between them, which kind of makes the purchase a waste of time. From two relatively poor games for me, placed 4th and 5th, Ishizuchi 134,087 Credits 2187 XP 110 Free XP 14 hits 1 plane shot down 1 kill 2 citadel hits Myogi 100,052 credits 2073 XP 104 Free XP 9 hits 1 kill 1 citadel Both ships sunk were tier 5, Minekaze and Omaha and everything else hit was tier 4. Not exactly a huge boost to performance from the Premium ship and far below what you would get in a Premium Tank, even though the ships generally cost more.
-
I think, what he is meaning or asking for is a match maker taking into account player skills as in a ranked match. Unfortunately I don't think this game has the player base for it.
-
The Ishi did 27k and the Myogi 23k, generally a poor amount. 4 hits from AP on the Mine and 10 AP on the Omaha, the other hits were spread over other battleships tier 4. Not a good match, spent most of the match plugging gaps in the line so lots of time with no LOS. It is however a relatively good comparison with the ships and usually holds up with other matches. There is that, although 30k more isn't really that much more in the grand scheme of things. The free experience is irrelevant because it comes from the overall experience, I think they mean the ships are elite, as in nothing to unlock which means you can "pay" to transfer experience to free. You can throw in captains, like crews from WoT, which is somewhat useful. Especially if, like me you ballsed up the skills and don't want to pay to retrain them. Generally I expected a better performance from a premium ship. They are nowhere as good as the premium tanks in terms of performance. I was thinking of getting a higher tier one when available not sure of the point, The Atago looks very much like its tier counterpart to justify the extra whack of cash.

Thank you for your very constructive whining...NOW PLEASE STFU!
LMN118 replied to AnuSuaraj's topic in General Discussion
Not that I disagree with you completely but to use the correct ammo for any given situation in a battleship means 30 Second plus reloads which means you are either OOR or LOS before you are ready to go. Load AP at the start for battleships. Cruisers, at least up until tier 5 might as well stick with HE because AP does very little damage, even with a citadel hit. Bearing in mind that you might get lucky, skill has very little to do with firing battleships against larger targets and get a citadel hit but since you can miss a full broadside at short range due to RNG kind of irrelevant. The spotting skill? Kind of pointless on a battleship. Micro adjustments of speed and direction won't allow you to dodge torpedos and are next to impossible on ships like the Wyoming due to the time it takes the rudder to move the ship and the time it takes to accelerate or lose inertia. Some occasions my ship just won't turn at all regardless, I suspect it is just an open beta thing. Japanese battleships behave better but you still get hit...a lot. Torpedos are easy to avoid if you know the destroyer is there, most of the time I've lost a ship to torpedos because they sort of appear out of thin air. You can avoid plane torpedoes some times, turning into the planes might only work once a good carrier will position his planes to hit, keeping in mind battleships can not turn or change directions suddenly. Angle armour? Utterly useless against HE which, funnily enough, is the type of ammo most people will use against you. Moving in between firing, preferably when his/her rounds are in the air absolutely although a good gunner will compensate and hit you anyway unless you are in a Japanese battleship in which case your better turn rate or speed helps quite a bit. Battleships, to dominate need defensive screens, air protection and destroyer protection. Currently people do not do that. A good battleship player is unlikely to win you the game. A good destroyer player absolutely can. So yes I would say the balance is not quite there. They should never have went for the WG stupid assed spotting system. A War Thunder always spotted system with a battlefield player mark target would have been a better system. I like Battleships, but I am finding them very tedious to play at least the US ones and I end up losing no matter how well I play (i.e. top third of my team). I am using cruisers at the moment as they are quite fun, as soon as I have a berth free I am going back to destroyers. -
Furutaka...poor girl, please adjust ANY of its stats, preferrably positively this time ;)
LMN118 replied to 4venger's topic in Cruisers
It's an OK once you learn that she is not as good as a Kuma and shouldn't be played anything like the Kuma. It's not that she is a bad ship, its that the Kuma is an awesome ship.- 130 replies

To be honest the people who are saying this isn't anything like WoT are incorrect. The game play is identical, the type of units are identical and the objectives are the same. Sure some tricks from WoT clearly won't work, as mentioned side scraping, but the only real distance is the type of armament and the distances involved. Light Tanks - Destroyers. High concealment, good for spotting and attacking slow or badly defended targets. The only real change is that destroyers have a high burst damage from torpedoes. Medium Tanks - Cruisers Jack of all trades, good for supporting larger team mates or exploiting gaps in the enemy team. Although in Warships they are pretty much as powerful as battleships. Heavy Tanks - Battleships Higher firepower, lower rate of fire, more armour, slower some are bruisers and some are better snipers. Artillery - Carriers Long range, high damage, not the most mobile and very squishy. Contrary to this thread you generally used to survive longer by displacing after firing artillery especially in the early days when you could counter battery. Carriers especially need more situational awareness to get the best of and keep them safe. But due to the small maps sometimes staying static for as long as possible is the best plan. But yeah, people generally don't play as a team, and while my win rate originally was at around 49% when I started it has certainly crashed recently. But really all it takes is MM to give the team higher tier carriers or two carriers or more destroyers or for a really good destroyer player and if your team is not switched on its a loss. Speaking of which, perhaps the game could include some pertinent information, giving people a choice of AP rounds without actually saying what their armour penetration is or how ships are armoured doesn't really help anyone. I found the Co-op battles to work quite well, although more often than not my team lost them as well!

So previous to today playing the Phoenix or Kuma occasionally I would lose steering control. Today, in the last four matches my ships have lost steering with every hit, I lost it four times in a row and the last match twice in a row. The first time in the Kuma the shot actually completely missed my ship but still disabled it. Obviously no steering equals dead ship in most cases. Have I been disrespectful to the RNG gods or is there some deep dark conspiracy afoot.

...and the World of Warships community is better than than the WoT. Same crap, same non-productive counterarguments that add nothing to the discussion. Either battleships need a damage buff per shot, which will have a marginal increase over DPS due to the RNG nature of the hit system. Or HE needs a nerf, as at the moment they do more damage than they should to anything. At the moment cruisers fill a better role than battleships do, being able to destroy every other ship in the game relatively easily.

Why does Wargaming allow 12 Players at tier 10 destroy fun for the Rest of People ?
LMN118 replied to TLG_'s topic in General Discussion
They don't wipe in Open Beta, World Of Tanks is essentially the same game now as it was in Beta, many of the flaws are still there. The only real differences are down to tweaks and content. I enjoy World of Warships, since after 2 and bit years of Premium membership of World of Tanks I moved to War Thunder but I feel the game will be treated the same way as World of Tanks. It is already showing some of the same issues which as a third iteration of essentially the same game WG should have got it far more polished than its current state. -
Why does Wargaming allow 12 Players at tier 10 destroy fun for the Rest of People ?
LMN118 replied to TLG_'s topic in General Discussion
The problem isn't with high tier players. The problem is the matchmaker tier spread is far too high. This happens very noticeably at tier 4 upwards. Already I am getting shunted into tier 8 matches in a tier 4 ship, in this is the other team had a tier 8 carrier and we had none. To the person who says the tier doesn't make much of a difference, I am sorry it makes a huge difference. Carriers have more and better quality planes and battleships have greater range. My Wyoming was sunk before I could get into engagement range of their battleships. The matchmaker is not fit for purpose at the moment, another great example of this is putting one carrier on one team versus none, or 2 versus 1. Such flawed matchmaking ultimately frustrates players which will mean less people playing. It's a free game so there is nothing really to stop them walking away. The matchmaker issue compounds other problems such as the weakness of Japanese carriers against USA carriers at lower levels, the invisible Japanese destroyers who can continually launch torpedoes from the safety of invisibility (without smoke) against US Destroyers that usually lose concealment before they get a chance of firing. -
Uhh right. I have the same issue, not all the time but the game will randomly drop to the login screen during battle and will not let you log back in with the server not responding message. Which is irritating considering WG have banned people in the past based on similar issues. Thankfully it is not frequent.
