    BB AP to powerfull after recent patch

    Kudos for that posting. But, as someone who enjoys BBs as much as cruisers and DDs - the TE has a small point. I'm absolutely fine with the damage i'm taking in cruiser - that being said, if a cruiser comes head-on towards me or goes away from me, salvos for more than 10-15k are a tad too much. It was too little before the patch, but it feels overdone now. Other than that, AP is as it should be (in my mind).

    I bet it was said already, but this might be your opinion - not shared by any other person that drove both IJN and USN. The New Mexico is hands down one of the best BBs in the game. The Colorado seems meh, yes, but so is the Nagato, or even worse, the Izumo which got heavily buffed this patch and is STILL crap, both lines have their "turds". I think, judging by what you wrote, you are the problem, purely. Especially when it comes to the New York (amazing) and New Mexico (even better). I don't know what people you are talking to, that say they dropped the US BB line because the ships sink compared to IJN ones - there is only one sub-par one, and thats the Colorado. And that's not even bad, it's just not as good as their brilliant predecessors, same with the Pensacola. It's not a bad ship, it just pales compared to the completely OTT cleveland. Why i think that you are the problem? I rarely die to fire, if at all. If your shots don't do damage, you're aiming wrong. I destroy cruisers in two-three salvos (obviously depends on range and luck etc - but at least 5 out of 10 die in the first three salvos), each salvo doing at least 6k damage, and at around 12km (cruiser has to be in that range to effectively shoot you) you pretty much can't miss anymore, with at least one citadel hit every three salvos. You have 60 games played, and i hate to say it: learn how to use your guns, or rather, your BB. I'd love to give some advice, but there isn't really any. Aim properly (you don't, i assume, since you have less than half the damage i did in the new york, so there's one reason), if you fight two ships, head towards or straight away from one, use AP on everything but DDs. That's it, the rest is pretty much only decisionmaking in terms of positioning. There's some more regarding TBs as enemies, but that wasn't the question (PS: US BBs also have it alot easier to dodge). Borderline: US BBs are far from weak compared to their counterparts. Yes, they're slower and have less range, but they also have the better guns and manouverability, which is the better advantage (a kongo/fuso won't hit my new mexico on max range, ever).

    Replays broken?

    Well, as the topic states. I do know, it's a work in progress etc, and you activate replays "at your own risk", so to speak - but they worked decently fine before this patch, one would've been able to pull (for example) a youtube clip off it. Today i wanted to rewatch a game from yesterday, where i was hit by (what i think was) an impossible to dodge torpedo because it landed literally right next to my ship. Found the replay, fired it up - and it's all over the place. Ships are not where they're supposed to be anymore, including my own. In the replay, the torpbombers actually die before they drop torpedos (weirdly enough), and i get hit by a torpedo shortly after from nowhere. Now, i don't really mind it so much, since it's a work in progress - i just want to know if something's borked with my installation, or if other people observed a pretty drastic decrease in quality there (and yes i know, wasn't perfect before)?     Replays broken?

    That's what i'm saying. It was fine-ish before this patch. Not brilliant, but it worked. Now it's completely impossible to analyse something, because literally everything is wrong. Your (my) position, enemies position, the directions your ship is travelling - the only thing that replay got right is that i went "east", roughly. It wasn't that bad before, now if you "jump" in the replay, your ship simply doesn't move at all anymore. edit: Okay, guess it's broken then. Shame, was a decent tool to see where mistakes were made and i don't have the HDD space to record every single game ^^

    Hidden IJN - CV Nerf

    Played the first time after weeks (didn't play a single game after torpspread-nerf) with my Zuiho, scored 5 kills. Not necessarily effortless, but all with autodrop. Can't comment on manuals, was never good with them (in fact, i'm really, REALLY bad in CVs, mostly because i don't enjoy the playstyle and can't put the effort in to learn). It seems like they shifted skillceiling a bit, got alot harder for manual droppers, and (seemingly) quite a bit easier for autodroppers like me. So, for Hosho i can't comment, but the boat afterwards, and that's plenty fine with at least autodrops.

    Yeah, nothing "noobie" there. A single shell took out my cleveland yesterday (out of two, the other one missed) from a 100%. Not much you can do to prevent that.

    I couldn't have dodged that in my Farragut. It was literally(!) not even 10 meters next to me. In fairness, it wasn't a 90 degree drop but basically, like "/ / O / /". Torps being dropped left and right of my ship at a small angle (turned into TBs as supposed to). The torp that landed right next to my ship immediately armed and hit me, didn't take two seconds. Didn't die iirc (played like 25-30 games tonight), but that was just ridiculous. And brick128, as a sidenote: be constrictive or shut up. Toxic people like you are what poisons the forums, next to the people you are attacking here. Talk about a waste of space, boy oh boy. Such truth, very self-reflection. Much wow.

    After playing my Zuiho today, a single game, since a looong time.. I'm actually not 100% convinced about that anymore. To clarify: didn't play a CV in weeks, not a single game after spreadnerf for example - i'm generally extremely bad with CVs (easy to be checked in my profile), and, well.. i played autodrops only. End of the song? .. 5 kills. While 5 kills generally is not THAT impressive, it blows my mind how easy it was, and considering how little experience i have with those things. Something's off there. I also got dropped by TBs today in my cleaveland, i kid you not (if needed i'll go through replays and take a screen), not even 10 meters to my side. And they armed. That was absolutely, 100% impossible to dodge, no idea what happened there.

    New Conquest mode - what do you think?

    Same here, every single time (literally) i said "conquest gamemode, don't forget it only takes one ship and one second in our cap to lose", nothing. Only person defending, all the time, in like 10 matches now. It simply sucks. It's a bit like playing WoT on tier 2, people are all over the place, i wouldn't expect that from players Tier 6 and higher here.

    It sucks. Actually it rocks, but 95% of teammates are too stupid to realise what's going on. That makes it suck.

    BBs are not alone though, will have CVs and DDs spotting, so that wouldn't be an issue. They actually could lure stuff out of the cap because they outrange most of the stuff going into the circle apart from other BBs, where their firepower comes to play. Especially because enemy BBs would be limited in their movement, a defending BB isn't. Midfield sounds good though, being able to do pretty much both attacking and defending. Borderline though, i'm just giving my opinion - that gamemode can be played in all kinds of setups etc.

    Good job on writeup, can't +1 anymore today. One slight gripe though: there's a small misconception in my mind. That's very "general". In my mind, you want to attack with BBs and CAs, and defend with CVs and DDs (and maybe a single BB, depending on teamcomposition - hidden behind fog). At least from my perspective. CAs to deal with defending DDs, BBs to take out everything else (attack-part). CAs are pretty useless in a defensive position, they get spotted too early and can't run into cap to detect enemy DDs. DDs can lay torpwalls to protect the cap (as you said, you don't need to take ships out, only prevent them from scoring "a goal"), etc - .. Coming to think of it, the most important part is that enough people attack, and enough people defend, regardless of class/role. In Clanbattles later down the line, yes, stuff like that comes into consideration (even in more detail, like defending with kitakamis and stuff). In random matches, as long as you don't lemming etc, you're good to go.

    Pretty much. In the ship-stats you already get told "max damage", not "standard damage". Two HE shells hitting exactly the same spot will deal two different amount of damages (almost 100%). That's the RNG in HE shells. It doesn't mean though that HE will always "do the same damage" even with fixed values, since it gets "countermathed" (invention of me, don't know the english word) against the ships armor. Meaning, less damage on higher armor. But since you'll see different numbers even if you hit the same spot, that's moot anyway. AP, same. Has a "max damage" value, iirc that is a citadel hit. Those "static numbers" you see sometimes are just a different way to tell you that you didn't hit stuff. It's basically a shell plunging into nothing, so minimal damage was done. The damagecalculation comes into play when you actually have a penetration (we penetrated the enemy). And, last but not least: all hitrates in the games are MASSIVELY inflated. Through all shipclasses. For BBs roughly by (judging by my mediocre stats) 7x-10x. Same for planelaunched torpedoes (that's even more inflated). On the other hand, shiplaunched torpedos are "deflated" i think, but that's just a guess.

    Only difference would be optics, i don't think that the Midway needs any more advantages as it has with the jets itself already. Also it's almost 10 years between DM and that flight deck, at a time where literally the concept of warfare was changed (MBTs introduced, jets taking over, etc etc). So 10 years is not just 10 years, it's pretty much worlds. And yes, the T54 is my favourite example of what happens if you take post-war technologies to a game where the rest is not (as happened when it was introduced). It'll be plenty stronk shep, no need for more advantages clearly. ;)

    Yes, but the Midway got it's angled deck retrofitted in iirc 54 or smth, maybe they don't want to go that far in the future. edit: And in 51 the F9F landed on the midway, so it was certainly possible without angled deck

    Winner writes the history, makes it easy to leave out all the bad stuff that happens. Let's not continue, i have a strong opinion on the way US tells and teaches history (i'm german btw, i know what we learn in historyclass), i don't want to go into nationbashing here.
