    Matchmaking broken again?

Failplatooning/divisioning sucks. I dont see why WG has been allowing players to do this for so long. Its been an issue since WoT became popular, but its like they dont care. But anyways, if you want mirrored teams, play coop mode. WG doesnt want to introduce mirrored MM to random battles. They made that clear. If you have more questions about the matchmaker, check here: http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/common/matchmaking-revamped/

When are the Challenges gonna get implemented?

Im just gonna be patient here. I'm sure WG will put them in sooner or later

Us destroyer buff, japan destroyer nerf

USN DD's dont focus as much on torps as the IJN DD's do, last time I checked.

Is United Kingdom's warship coming soon?

Perhaps he could mod the flag files to a brit's union jack. Might make him feel better

Which is best Tier 4 Ship?

I'll go with the Kuma. A fully equipped Arkansas B is a great ship aswell, because you can put alot more modules on her.

    Dutch fleed

Ahh, so thats how it is. I got confused with the Soerabaja, formerly known as the Zeven Provincien.

    Dutch fleed

It was a boring day at work, so after reading this topic, I went wikipedia-ing about the Dutch Royal Navy. Its pretty interesting what the Dutch had planned. Already at the start of the 20th century, the Dutch became worried about the safety of their colonies. The pacific had already been home to the russian-japanese wars, and since the Brits pretty much withdrew all their warships from Singapore in 1905, there was simply nothing that could stop Japanese agression. The Japanese already showed themselves superior over the Russian navy, and their Navy was expanding. Meanwhile, the Dutch had nothing comparable, as their squadron of ships based in the pacific featured little else but some destroyers, ironclads, and armored cruisers. Most werent even battle worthy, probably by being completely obsolete. Im mean, freaking ironclads lol. Ships like these saw action in the american civil war. Try putting those against ships like the Japanese Mikasa. Anyway, Serious modernisation was in order! The Dutch started work on the new Wolff class destroyers, of which 8 were built and completed from 1909 to 1914. They also built the De Zeven Provinciën, which is best described as a small cruiser that sacrifices speed and range for better armor and firepower. Built in 1909, the main guns were 280mm, but it only had two of these in single turrets fore and aft. In 1912, additional plans called for four more ships armed with 4 of these 280mm guns each, of which one came very close to being authorized. But, as you may know, the launch of the British HMS Dreadnought completely changed the way big capital warships would be designed. The Dutch set their sights on getting dreadnought ships of their own. Hype! Hype! Hype! I wonder if these ships were released in overpriced bundles, too. Doubloons, fock yeh! So around 1913, looking to increase its defences in their colonies, a Dutch commission was formed to investigate the matter and make a recommendation. The commission made its recommendation in august that year: The navy was to aquire 9 dreadnought type ships. Five would be based in the colonies, while the other 4 would operate from the homeland. Several countries/companies drew up designs to get the contract to build these ships, of which Germaniawerft wouldhve probably been selected. The ship they submitted was something like which can be seen here. The Dutch at this point were already comitted to ordering 4 dreadnought ships. The ships would have a top speed of atleast 21 knots, with an armored belt around 250mm thick, and with 8 343mm guns in 4 superfiring twin gun turrets. At a later point, the gun caliber was upped to 356mm. Moving right along to 1914, the bill passed the Dutch cabinet so the final arrangements could be made. It was planned that the keel for the first ship would be laid down somewhere in 1914 but with the outbreak of the first world war, it became impossible to get the ships build in germany. The whole idea was dropped at that point and the Dutch remained neutral in the war. Sooooo.. the Dutch actually had serious plans for some dreadnoughts which, in terms of firepower, were pretty comparable to the american New York class! Its completely possible that the Dutch Royal Navy wouldhve been able to make an order for these ships somewhat sooner, but as the Dutch Cabinet wanted to avoid a confrontation over the costs of these ship, they waited untill mid-1914. Who knows what wouldhve happened if that stupid archduke didnt get himself shot. You know, the thingy that started the whole first world war. Meanwhile, the Dutch still had a problem. The pacific theatre was still an area where the Japanese had a huge superiority over the Dutch naval units. So a few years later in 1916, the Dutch started work on three new cruisers, again designed by Germaniawerft, but build them theirselves. This new class, the Java class, were light cruisers armed with 10 150mm guns. Designed in 1913, this ship was already obsolete when they were commisioned in 1925. (12 years later, what the hell?). With the third cruiser cancelled, these ships werent going to stop the Japanese if it ever came to a conflict. The ships built were the Java, and the Sumatra. Both are named after the Dutch colonies (at the time). So were now in the 20's. A new Dutch commision was held and advised against the building of Battleships. Instead it was adviced to complete the new ships currently being build, plus another 2 cruisers, 12 destroyers and 16 subs. This plan was considered too expensive however, and with the world calling for global disarmament after the first world war, it was a no-no. Even a budget version of this proposal was denied in the Dutch cabinet, coming up short just a vote or two. Too bad, Dutch tech tree. No ships for you. Sometimes I wonder if our forefathers were deliberately screwing up plans for any would-be Dutch tech tree in this game. But wait! In the early 30's in became alarmingly apparant that Japan was kicking some serious butt, and that all your base belong to them. Afterall, the islands in their colonies were #4 on the global oil producer chart and if anything was something worth of high value among the islands in the pacific, it would be the Dutch colonies and their oil. Looking at the minimap, the Dutch were "pretty sure" that in any real war scenario, it would be the Americans that would take on the main Japanese fleet and that they were not going to be facing any big capital ships. Since the Dutch believed that the Japanese carriers were always operating with their strongest fleet units, their would not be the ones facing carrier based air strikes. As it was at the time, the Dutch Java and Sumatra light cruisers, a few destroyers and a decent submarine fleet would be all that could be counted on against Japanese agression. Oh, de Zeven Provincien was there too, renamed to Soerabaja, but that ship sucked. During this time, the new cruiser De Ruyter was completed. The ship was completely f'd up. Because it was still a time of pacifism and economic depression, the ship was being budgeted down at every opportunity. Because of this, the main armament was inferior to many other comtemperary cruisers, and the protection was too light. If youre gonna build a cruiser to support your two aging light cruisers, atleast build it properly! Guess they couldnt be bothered, huh? Damn tree hugging hippies. Somehow it took the Dutch up untill 1939 to really, really start looking into the pacific problem. They drew up a design for a "super cruiser" and showed it to Germany-senpai. Germany had a look and said: "Holand, zeey 1920's was on zeeh phone, dey want their schiff design back!" Realising their designs were woefully outdated, the Dutch came to an agreement with Germany that they would order all their required materials for new ships from Germany, and in turn Gemany would assist the Dutch in designing their version of the Scharnhorst class battlecruiser. This was actually a very potent warship, and the Scharnhorst itself had a very famous career. The last known design for these class of ships was simply called "Design 1047" because they ran into a little problem somewhere around may 1940. I think that was about the time where Holland was invaded by.. Oh, I see. So thats why.. So again: No ships for the techtree. This leaves ships like the Java class and De Ruyter as the biggest ships for the Royal Dutch Navy for as far I can see. The Dutch Royal navy was pretty much annihilated in the pacific conflict, with 20 ships lost and around 2500 sailors killed. Wikipedia says thats about as much as the Americans lost in pearl harbor. Without funding or reinforcements the surface fleet simply stood no chance. Notable tho, is that the relative small submarine force by the Dutch still did more damage to the Japanese on its own during the first weeks than the entire Brit and American navies combined. Admiral Helfrich, the Dutch admiral in charge, was nickednamed "ship-a-day Helfrich". He was one of the people that accurately predicted a Japanese attack on pearl harbor, with the only question being: "When?" It wasnt untill the creation of NATO untill the Dutch Royal navy really started to get some new attention and was allowed to rebuild. In the 50's the Navy was allowed to build a balanced fleet, but I doubt these ships would fit into WoWs timeframe. Perhaps there are some ships the allies donated to the Dutch after the war, but these would be clone ships. Like WoT has clone tanks. Nobody likes clones. So here is what I think: No dutch techtree. Some premiums, perhaps. If you read all this, I hope you enjoyed. Bye byes

But its the "Beta" part that makes players think that youre an experienced playerer ....

Maybe a dutch premium ship, but I doubt an entire line can be build. The obsolence of the dutch navy was painfully visible in the pacific theatre.

    Dutch Speaking Forum

There is a dutch subforum on WoT where some players (mostly younger ones) can benefit alot from just getting an explanation about the game in their own language. This can be much clearer to those without a firm grasp on the english language. However.. that subforum has always been rather small and not really that active with only a few posts each day. A Dutch clanforum would work just as good. When WG introduces clans on WoWs, that is. Untill then, just use the dutch forum on tweakers.net: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1632352

Windows 7 Firewall might be causing Ship Freezes

Correct. You either have it set to allow connection, or you dont. If your game freezes, its more likely due to a faulty computer or installation.

    ships to love

I'm getting re-acquainted with my Arkansas B lately. After playing ships like the Kongo and Fuso, all I knew was that BB's could be allowed to hang back a bit and keep their distance. Then came along the Nagato, which leans more towards a closer range type of fighting. So I learned to angle your ship, save your salvos, and try to anticipate torpswaves. I applied lessons learned on the Nagato to my Arkansas B, which was pretty meh in my mind when I first got it. I shoved some new modules in her and had a go tonight: So glad I didnt sell it.
  14. For all your sakes, I hope it wont come in the same 50EUR bundle.

Atago, Tier VIII Premium Japanese cruiser

Murmansk. Its likely the best tier 5 cruiser out there right now, and pretty cheap to get. Easy and fun creditmaker

Hakuna matata OP clearly does give a sh!t tho. For his/hers sake, I hope he/she improves. If thats not working out, thats ok. I totally suck at games like dota, lol and hots. You can pretty much name every moba game and I will be terrible at it. Same will go for this game. Some players will suck at WoWs.

    Managed

May I make a few honest suggestions? You might not agree, but here goes anyway: - Have a look at this: http://wows-numbers.com/player/529555139,Drigtol/ - Stop playing german cruisers. They are fragile and extremely unforgiving ships (even HE damages the engine, lols) - Most of your DD's have way better scores in winrate. Maybe these suit you better? - Most of your BB's have terrible winrates and low average damage. Find what youre doing wrong. Fix it. Just climbing up the tiers will not help you. The game economy will get more demanding and you will simply be required to deal atleast a good chunk of damage to provide the amount of credits to cover your costs. They way youre playing now, at tier 8 will only start costing you credits. Grinding creds for a new ship or modules will become harder and harder while you struggle to make credits. Instead, work on your gameplay. Try to deal atleast your own health in damage to provide a higher credit and experience yield for yourself. Keep an eye on your stats to see how youre progressing. One thing has to be clear tho. I dont give two sh!ts. I only give one sh!t. Its up to you to improve. If you cant, too bad! Good luck

Nikolai,Ishizuchi Wyoming & Myogi BB Feedback

^QFT To be honest, the AA on both the Wyoming and Myogi is pretty bad. Except for some lousy dual purpose guns most AA on this tier has only 2km range or less. Planes within 2km have already dropped their torps, and you might shoot down one of them. It doesnt matter much. So boosting the Arkansas, Nikolai or whatever premium isnt going to help. Your best defence is to simply try and avoid the attack alltogether by turning away. Boost your rudder time in whatever way you can, and try to anticipate torpbomber attacks.

    Imperator Nicholas I

Hah, I did turn out to make a bit of a rant didnt I? I didnt mean to Thanks for reading anyway. I'll be sure to pick up the Imperator when it available for a reasonable price. Im perfecty fine with being a paying customer, but I just dont like getting ripped off. Thats what these bundles feel like to me. We might not see completely eye to eye, but you seem to be enjoying your ship and thats what matters. I hope you have a nice evening, and enjoy your ship Greets!

    Imperator Nicholas I

Looking pretty good there, m8! I've only come up against one Imperator untill now in randoms, and the guy playing it wasnt particularly good, so my impression of the ship was rather meh. But now that I've seen more and more gameplay of it, it seems like a solid tier 4 BB. But still... not buying. Because: Principle: I just cannot lay down 30 euros for a tier 4 ship. WG inflates the price up to almost thrice as high as a regular tier 4 premium like the Ishuzichithingy by only offering it in a bundle offer, without offering alternatives. Meanwhile, in the russian shop you can pick up the same ship for 11 or so euros. Its like buying a hamburger at Mcdonalds in one city, but at the next city at a differnt Mcdonalds I will also have to buy fries, a donut and a medium coke because you simply cannot buy "just a hamburger". Now, WG is completely free in how they want to offer content to us. Thats their choice. Other premiums: I already have a Tirpitz, Warspite and a Murmansk. Why would I need another moneymaker, or trainer? Heck, I even got a Arkansas Beta which, thanks to its full range of modules (6 module slots at tier 4!) is in all likelyhood a better ship. Best part? It was free! Its probably my best performing ship ever, and I dont nearly play it as much as it deserves. If we think about it, whats the point in buying an Imperator over an Aurora or a Murmansk? They can all train captains for your russian DD line just the same, while all making additional credits. Meanwhile, the Aurora and Murmansk are substantially cheaper to obtain. Does the game really need another russian premium ship? I mean, if the Imperator is such a fun ship: Great! But do you really need to pay 30 euros for a ship very similair to a Wyoming? Doubloons. Doubloons everywhere. What am I to do with all these doubloons..?? I got over 3k doubloons doing absolutely nothing. All the new premium ships are available only in the store, I still got 350ish days of premiumtime left, and well.. thats it. Meanwhile the Imperator bundle comes with, yea you guessed it: 20 euros worth of doubloons with nothing worthwhile ingame to spend it on. So yea. Thanks, but no thanks. I dont see why WG bloats up the bundle with so many doubloons, when there is so limited use for doubloons ingame for player who have already bought a few bundles. Again, ofcourse WG is completely free to offer content in the premium shop as they see fit. But when it smells like a moneygrab, looks like a moneygrab, and tastes like a moneygrab, it probably is a moneygrab. I would love to get my hands on fun premium ships such as these, but not for such ridiculous prices. I hope to see ships as these in the techtree one day. Ingame, not on the premium shop. I only want a hamburger :'(

    IV Imperator Nikola l

After watching Phly's video, it doesnt seem so bad. The player I was up against is probably to blame.
  22. Marlekin

    IV Imperator Nikola l

Met one today in my Arkansas B, but this guy's salvos couldnt make a good hit on me to save his life. Gun dispersion seems pretty bad on the Imperator. But then again, I've only fought one so far but my impression of the Imperator leaves me thinking its a pretty lousy ship that has trouble landing good salvos. To those who actually bought this ship, what do you think?
  23. Marlekin

    Imperator Nicholas I

I usually pick up premium time around x-mas/newyear because WG usually gives out discounts. Not only are the larger premium time options cheaper if you calculate the price you pay for each premium day, the added discount makes it worthwile. Since 2012 I started buying the 360 day premium time each december. I still have alot of doubloons leftover from the Warspite and Tirpitz bundle, only to be used on stock ships to skip to a second hull or somthing similair. I got an Amagi coming up soon, not looking forward to its stock hull.
  24. Marlekin

    Imperator Nicholas I

I wouldnt mind paying an extra 5 or so euros to get a nice premium ship. But looking at this tier 4, with an extra 5200ish gold and 200 flags the price bloats up to almost 300%. You can pick up 5500 doubloons for 19,99, an Ishizuchi for 11. That probalby still means that in this bundle, you get the 200 flags for free but..... NOBODY CARE ABOUT FLAGS. Its like driving around with gold consumables in a game that has no clan wars or other competitive game modes. I dont see how this bundle redeems itself for being so darn pricey.
  25. Marlekin

    how's this work out ?

If you need hull upgrades to unlock the tier 4 ship, that means you need to do it for the tier 3. The tier 3 unlocks the next tier ship, after all. The tier 2 ship also has a hull upgrade you were required to unlock, but its only 400 exp. You probably never noticed untill now.
