You played 13 games total at this point in your Nagato, so unless you had the common sense to keep your free exp to unlock its B hull straight away, its going to suck. I doubt you have that common sense. Anyone who does, will have blamed himself at this point for not saving up the free exp for when you needed it instead of whining on these forums. Stock ships typically suck, especially IJN BB's up to tier 8. Untill you upgrade the hull, youre playing a battleship from the 1910's. Only once you upgraded, the ship turns into a monster and I cant see anyone doing badly in an upgraded Nagato without doing anything very, very wrong.

Arkansas Beta is awesome. Other ship I feel very comfortable in are the Warspite, Kongo, and Kuma. Nagato was an awesome ship aswell, I'll probably buy it back some time.

The Atago has gotten a reputation due to the inexperienced players that are using it. (Like the Lowe in WoT). Its a good cruiser, but if youve never played an Aboa/Myoko/Mogami I'd think twice, considering the pricetag. Its worth noting that the Atago has/or will be buffed by getting the BB repair button, which allows you to "heal". To be honest I'm still struggling to get decent averages with my Myoko, so I would be someone who would not be buying an Atago. If you want a safe bet, I'd suggest the Murmansk. Its likely the best tier 5 cruiser ingame, and it has everything: Torps, gunnery, even good AA. And its a pretty cheap premium aswell. However, since WG is making special sales due to X-mas/Newyear festivities this month, you might consider waiting. Its entirely possible that WG might make a premium avaiable for a short time like the Warspite, Tirpitz, or whatnot. Expect pricy bundles.

^Meh The only thing the Kongo doesnt have is armor, being a battlecruiser. I have some friends that are fairly new to this game and some of them are now at tier 5, I played a bunch of round with the murmansk with them before I wanted to play something else. So I rebought the Kongo and.. DAYUMM The ship is doing so well I cant believe it. I already had a few matches in a row where damage done was well over 100k. If I keep this up, the average damage on the Kongo will rise to the same level as my tier 8 Amagi. I dont remember my Kongo being that good when I was grinding it, but perhaps the MM changes have somethng to do with this. I got the Kongo fully kitted out with a noob captain that still needs alot fo exp, but considering its such a fun ship I suppose that problem will be elimitated fairly soon. I think that after adding the FCM module , the damage output at longer ranges is much more reliable. I feel rather confident in the Kongo right now. This ship is where the IJN BB's start to shine, and I'd really cant see anyone not liking this ship without doing anything wrong. Comparing it to the USN counterpart, a New York is probably more noob friendly since its a tougher ship. I dont see how a New York could ever match up to a Kongo played by an experienced player. My verdict on the Kongo: Pro's: + High speed + Long range guns + Strong AA + Sexy Con's: - Needs FCS module for those long range shots - Less powerfull broadside compared to New York - Battlecruiser armor Quick Summary: The high speed on a ship this size gives a player alot of flexibility on the map. This speed and good range helps the Kongo to get into the fight much quicker, retreat or relocate. Kongo's relativly fragile belt armor should be handled with care however.

New Event - Arpeggio of Blue Steel -ARS NOVA- invading World of Warships!
Marlekin replied to Kurbain's topic in General Discussion
Well, Considering WG partnering up in the past with the guys from the Girls und Panzer anime, this isnt all that unexpected. I bet many of the older generation players dont want these anime ships in their game. Rest assured tho: If this comes to WoWs the skin creators will have "normal skins" ready for these boats before long, making these neon boats look like regular ships. That is, if these boats will even be joining you in the normal game modes. Considering these ships unique features (shields, guided missles, big badass lasercannons, deathstar ray) it isnt that far fetched to see them only in certain game modes. Just like the special game modes WoT had, with the 8-bit gamemode. I wouldnt be suprised at all if these ships will exclusively played in special game modes designed for them. And if they do join the normale gamemodes its probably just going to be a re-skin of an existing ship. I wouldnt be that worried. Keep an open mind. There's already plenty anime fanboys amongst you. I do think this is a good move on WG's part. Anime has become a world wide hit. Ever since Dragonball Z and Gundam Wing were aired in europe (dubbed over in english tho), anime series have gained more recognition worldwide and have a huge adience. This has the potential to attract more players to WoWs, and I really think that despite bugs and issues that surely need work right now, keeping up the playerbase and getting WoWs name out there is also very important to the game. So lets wait and see, I guess. -
Hi, Seeing as both WoT and WoWP are starting their X-mas/End of the year specials, I wonder when and if WoWs will be kicking off these aswell. Anyone know?

Thanks!

Stay at the nagato or leave it and get back to the US BB at NY
Marlekin replied to klankkast's topic in Battleships
Stock Nagato truly sucks, thats why I save enough free exp to make sure I can always unlock the first hull upgrade right away. The Fuso was awesome, but its also a terrible stock ship to play. That doesnt mean it didnt turned out to be an awesome ship, however. Nagato is the same. But its not a fast battlecruiser like the myogi and kongo The armor is much thicker and allow you to get closer. The guns are bigger and pack more punch. The ship has a pretty good secondary battery aswell. It plays very different to a kongo or fuso, but its a very good ship. -
Klingons or Warships! - not at all sporting or fair
Marlekin replied to Naveey's topic in Newcomers' Section
All ships have a detection range, determining the range you will get spotted. Most likely, the ships that "mysteriously" appeared are as mysterious as their detection ranges are to you. After you sunk, there was no ship on your team that was within their detection range to keep them spotted, so they "mysteriously" dissapeared. FYI, spotting mechanics arent just limited to daily missions (which are just random battles, by the way). -

As a premium ship I probably would... not. I already have a Warspite so having a second premium BB for the same nation seems rather useless. I doubt the Hood has anything special to offer compared to the venerable Warspite, which really is a very good BB. Especially considering the price of a premium around that tier (30ish euros) and WG tendency to initially bloat up the price with a bundle deal, its highly unlikely I'd be tempted enough to buy. Which brings me to point out a problem for WG: With only a few techtrees ingame its no use to keep bringing out new pemium ships. As a creditgrinder you only really need one decent premium ship. Most players who wanted a premium ship to train their captains are highly likely to have already provided themselves with premium ships to do so. What WG needs to do now, is to introduce new techtrees instead of adding ships like the Hood.

New Tier 8 Premium ship - Soviet Cruiser Sverdlov
Marlekin replied to Sonic_157's topic in General Discussion
Glorious soviet ship that was used as target practice. But if i read it right: It has 152mm guns with 17,9km range. With AFT thats 21,4km range. Not bad... -

There was. The Italians were, on paper atleast, more or less on par with the Royal Navy in the mediterranean sea. Italy was however extremely carefull with their ships and fleet commanders were always required to double check with HQ before making any kind of decision when taking action. This delay caused the italian fleet to lose a golden opportunity at operation halberd.

0.8.4 We want lower repair costs too!
Marlekin replied to Trigger_Happy_Dad's topic in General Discussion
I would like to have a Yamato one day. Even in WG main game I can play tier 10 and still make some decent profits, but all I hear in WoWs is that the higher tier economy is next to impossible. Not really inviting to play high tiers, lol- 97 replies

Why cant I just purchase all premium ships with doubloons?
Marlekin replied to MATREKUS's topic in General Discussion
I know, right? However, they do the same in WoT. Recently added premium tanks like the Chasseur de Chars, STA 1 (or was it 2?), Panther 88 and the new Skoda are all at first only available in the online shop. I do think that WG will add ships like the Warspite, Tirpitz and Nikolai into the ingame tech trees, sooner or later. Probably later. -
Phly has a review on it. He usually starts with reviewing the ship and showing stats before showing some gameplay.

I see that your highest tier ship is a tier 5 CL and a CV, both with an amount of battles i can still count with my hands. Your total amount of battles is still very low, so I have to ask: Why did you buy the Atlanta? Information about the Atlanta is easily available with a few clicks on a computer or smarthphone, telling you everything you need to know before buying such a ship. Things like, how fragile it is. Its armor is thinner than most lower tier cruisers. Thats because its an escort cruiser meant to give AA coverage in fleet formations. The guns may be usefull for stronger AA power, but they lack the range to deal with surface ships at normal ranges. This makes it a very challenging ship to use. These are all things you couldhve considered for yourself prior to making a purchase. Considering its pricetag, I dont think the 'Lanta is worth the money at all. I'll take a Cleveland anyday. But you bought it. Its your problem now.
-
I tried Hosho a bit to see how CV's work in coop mode, but I mainly play BB's and DD's. Im only slowly transitioning from CL's to CA's.
-
Im just happy its not as pricey as the tirp/warspite bundles. Cheaper prems or less extra is still a lower price
-
Yea, where are all the tirpitzes?

Game crashes not enough virtual memory
Marlekin replied to Eternus_Damnatio's topic in General Discussion
Strange Virtual memory is effectively storage space on one of your drives, but virtual memory is only used when your normal memory is already running at maximum capacity. Now, Wows shouldnt require THAT much effort from your system with the specs you mentioned. So if your not running all kinds of additional programs that would eat up all that memory, I would suggest you'd check in on the option of this being virus/malware related. -
You are right in saying that the Lanta was a cruiser designed for AA cover. It was meant to work in formations, as an escort. Thats why you cannot compare it to the Cleveland class cruisers. Modern light cruisers at that time were all equipped with 6 inch guns (150mm). This armamant gave light cruisers the range required to operate as a surface ship in the traditonal way. The Lanta was a specialist ship, so you cannot use it like a normal light cruiser. The ship carried much lighter protection over normal light cruisers, and would be a poor choice as a surface combatant versus another typical light cruisers. So you cannot compare it, as its way too unique for that. More info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Atlanta_(CL-51)
