I do that a lot if the enemy CV has been destroyed or crippled or there is none. I'll just park my fighters on top of enemy DD's and enjoy the view. This is possible as the low 5-6 tier DD's don't do much damage to planes. As a DD captain I keep my AA off to reduce the chance that enemy CV does this to me. Also, I will not shoot with cannons unless it is absolutely required due to emergency. Shooting with DD means that you are spotted for extended time and there's very high chance that enemy BB's or CA's will beat the crap out of you. In my average DD game (currently playing Minekaze) I won't get spotted more than 2 or 3 times for a short duration. This means that the enemy CV will not be looking for you actively. Of course however if you are capping a flag there's a chance that the CV will come for you.

If I try to play CV then game disconnects me immediately after I try to command airplanes. If I play anything else then the latency rockets sky high after enemy ships appear on map and controls have 1-5 second lag.

What's with all these draw threads recently? I get like 1 or 2 draws per 100 battles so they shouldn't be a problem. Tip: Force enemy to their flag. Result: No Draw. Scenario 1: They don't come and you get capture win. Scenario 2: They come and you kill them. Victory. Scenario 3: They come and you die. Lose, but you have had your chance for victory.

I think this debate on every thread is dominated by low to mid tier experience. Even I don't have experience from high tier battles as I only played to tier 6 in cbt. WG has always been focused on top tier balance and even I don't see any problem with low tier balance. It is what it is, at least it's not on ridiculous level. I play all classes somewhat evenly and I'm progressing a lot slower on tiers. I think that CV's are just strong in current state and most tier 4-6 players are not experienced enough in avoiding torpedo bomber squads. Example from last night: BB player was cruising on a straight line while having no support from team and so I took optimal approach line and sunk it with single bomber squad. He immediately replied with "Manual drop is so ******* op/broken". I suppose you all can see the problem here and it's not that manual drop is overpowered or broken. If you don't change your course when you see TB squad approaching then you are doomed to take hit. If that BB player had tried to evade before the drop he would not have sunk and would have only taken 0 to 2 torpedoes. Also, had he cruised with team mates chances are that I would have lost planes and the spread would have been too big to hit anything. About CV's providing AA cover. If I have only one fighter squad I'm not able to guard all battleships. Maps are too large and cruising speed on planes is too slow to effectively guard everybody. What I normally do is that I send my fighter squad to recon for my team and for my strike squads (tb/db). I try to intercept enemy bombers if possible while doing this, but mostly I'm trying to protect my own bombers. If I'm successful in getting air superiority (as US CV player) I will try my best to recon any enemy DD's trying to launch sneak attack or recon flags etc.

Toxic chat - Please make it an option to turn of ingame chat
Jabi replied to AirSupremacy's topic in General Discussion
Coordinating game. I see this as a valid point against an option to turn off in-game chat completely. Except if not for yourself there has been only a game or two where someone else has said anything about strategy in in-game chat for the some hundred games in obt and cbt. Instead I can see someone playing their mouth in some 1/3 of the games. Anyway I would like a compromise where sunken players can't use chat at all and give them full spectating ability to see both teams. This should lessen the foul language in games and would give a lot more out of watching the rest of the game while dead. -
I guess you have either already bogue open or you have used doubloons to train captain if you will have t4 skill on next game. I just opened t3 skill and I'm a dozen game (or less) away from bogue. With premium a loss tends to give 1000-1100 exp and I've had mostly losses on my langley. I guess I'm a bad cv player because I don't sink 4+ ships on every game and counter multiple tier higher carriers. It's very frustrating when you encounter +1 tier higher carriers. Skills and upgrades will help you but you don't normally have these on tier 4 (though I have, now). Anyway the tier advantage between 4 and 5 carrier is so enormous that matchmaking shouldn't ever but these on opposing teams. Air Superiority Bogue means that it can counter _TWO_ Langleys just by putting fighters around Langleys and those Langley's AA is so poor that it can't drop a single fighter. Bogue's one fighter squadron destroys entire Langley fighter squadron under 3-4 seconds. Yes, I think Bogue should counter tier lower carriers, but the point is that the match-up shouldn't have happened in the first place, ever. Just my humble opinion as a bad carrier player (I think I fared a lot better in closed beta using JPN carriers).

My humble opinion is that it has never been tested live so there are no real experience of it (test server does not apply). Thus it's WG's presumption. Also team battles or "clan wars" do not solve the problem of 4-5 people wanting to play together because you will miss the odd 7-8 players. I would agree that divisions (or platoons/squadrons) really impact the match, but it has been tested to be successful in WT. There are no reasons it wouldn't apply here.

Battleships are meant for long range support. They are slow boating massive structures that rely solely on armour. A battleship going in aggressively will get targeted by other battleships, cruisers, destroyers and carriers. If the the enemy team has even slight understanding the battleship will not live long enough. Most effective way of doing damage with a battleship is to make use of AP rounds and angle of the ammo so you can score citadel hits. Short range shot will have an angle that tends to ricochet from the deck doing minimal damage. Going in aggressively is not only least effective way of dealing damage but also sure death meaning it has just wasted a player slot.

I can confirm this bug. I just sold ship and sent commander to reserve and I had free space in reserve. I read that there are also reports of this bug in US, too.
