    Idea for Warships

    Hello, I'm a fan of "Battlestations : Midway" and their game was a success for my point of view. I have sent my application for alpha testing long time ago and never received any news and now I see post on the forum for alpha testing application and a beta week-end ! I don't received any emails for beta week-end and was one week later when I have read that I don't like planes and my first connection was yesterday on the WoP server but there is really not a lot of players. (~2k/3k on EU server)Ships and planes are 100% linked, it's the planes only which have flow japanese fleet at the end of the WW2 ! So the first part it's not important but it's for explain the following. Why you don't create a game with a link between Warships and Warplanes ? You have already think to the carrier (not viewed on video during beta week-end) but why don't use simply the planes and players of Warplanes instead of create another planes controlled (by bots?) ? It's can boost a lot of Warplanes players if they can destroy another planes and ships controlled by player ! You need only to add torpedo because bomb and AA gun is already there ;) Else I have see only some Youtube movies but this game is a little strange... Why a battleship need to be hide behind a moutain ??? Battleship have only their armor and not moutain for resist to impact ! The battle should be an open space.. Battleship are slow and is an easy target but can shoot from far away without accuracy, destroyer are faster... can pass between shells and torperdos. Carrier like artillery should stay behind protected by other ships. For my point of view, you should copy a little Battlestations Midway gameplay. Two (or more) types of maps : 1. Land and water, you can create a capture flag near the coast. Why not create airport for Warplanes player on each coast ? And if a team destroy completely other team (airport included but planes excluded), the battle is over. 2. Water only, you can create a capture flag on opposite corner. Use carrier on this map with planes piloted by Warplanes player. And if a team destroy completely other team (planes excluded), the battle is over. 3. You can imagine a land with a form of fjord for protect against battleships long range shoot on the middle with a capture flag and the faster win and you can add again carrier for planes ;) Sorry if the game is already like that but can't access so can't view myself how the game work actually. My idea is may be bad but I can give only one advice to all alpha/beta testers go to battlestations midway one time if you like kill ships ;) (not pacific !) Thank you for your comments ! EDIT : For Warplanes integration, you can create specific planes related with nation of ships for play on Warships. Like that you don't change anything to Warplanes just add a simple link. Another idea for planes to be more realistic, you can add resupply ammo or change weapon when the plane approach airport or carrier.

    Why a "true" player can't control a plane and switch between planes inside his squadron ? True AI don't exist actually and it's often not great and can be easly predicted after some time of game I don't know how many planes are on each side but you can't put 100 aircrafts for 8 ships too A battleship is about 1500 people, it's not a tank with 5 crew member ! You have a lot of thing to do and not only shoot with main artillery gun... I can imagine two or three players which control only one ship for be 100% effective on all roles. (torpedo approach, aircraft squadron, ship at range of shoot, speed and direction, take the good angle for shoot with all guns, it's pretty hard to manage all alone !) Destroyer have a little low number of crew member but have main role to track aircrafts and submarine (not include in this game) for protect bigger ships. It's pretty hard to balance all of this but should be balanced. A team which don't care about aircrafts should sink quickly else is 100% not realistic... Aircrafts come by squadron, you should leave your main gun for switch on AA gun and when is over you should switch again to main artillery gun for destroy ennemy ship. And look all during this time for torpedos and move your ships for don't have a good angle for torpedo but keep a good shoot angle. So no, nothing is in contrast all go together for my point of view (submarine too with all problems of these submarines CO2 problem, defective torpedo, need a perfect angle with the target, very slow under water and need the periscope for target a ship and launch torpedo.) I expect a lot of this game and I hope that's not a boat game where you need to hide behind a rock for shoot without take damage and camp behind... But a true teamplay game with each ship one role in the fleet, squadron of aircrafts need to be coordonate for protect the fleet or target an ennemy ship.

    Midway work like that, you control two carriers or two airfields depend of the map and you can take control of one plane. You can have two or three squadrons by airfields with X planes (don't remember exactly). You choose if you want bomb, torpedo or AA gun mounted on this squadron. When squadrons is dead, you can launch another squadron but total number of planes is limited by airfield/carrier so you can out of planes like out of ammo on ships ;)

    Two carriers per team is good but if it's "true" players you can probably limit the number of planes for raise a correct number of players or let a player control one plane on five or ten The player can switch plane like in midway but lead the attack. In midway, you have two mode bot plane or a player control the plane. I can say you than a pilot in the plane help a lot for coordinate attack on a ships or another target ! It's limit the action of carrier, that's clear but you can imagine give a plane to flight for the carrier owner else it's boring to wait flight reach the target, action is very limited.
