I know someone in New Zealand, which is relatively close to Oz, so maybe I'll buy it too.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Shaka_D replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Cherry2blost in a division on the opposite team on hotspot (I think this was the map), He came near tops of his team in his edinburgh while his tier 10 bb's let the team down and we stole the win at the end. Good fight though. -
Play while you win, when you lose a game stop for a while, then try again. Follow this method using the best ships for ranked and you'll eventually be successful. I did it this way and while I almost have a 57% wr for randoms I have a dismal 50% wr for ranked and I made it to rank 1(first time ever). Lots of luck needed though wrt team mates.

Cruisers are the weakest class, easily spotted, easily citadelled by a stray shell from a BB, and not all cruisers have radar, or even very effective AA. Many still turn slowly and have slow speeds and some even very low firing ranges and need to get even closer to enemy ships to try hitting them. They are definitely the least loved class by WG who still use textbook expressions to describe how to play them, without focussing on the reality of gameplay and the actual situations you may encounter ingame. I love cruisers, but when playing them I accept it is a much harder game. To use the concept given to aircraft gunners during WW2, where the positions of certain machine gun turret mounts on bombers were rated as a 'time to live' measurement in seconds as a measure of risk involved, I would rate the classes as follows: CV - 15 seconds to live, BB - 10 seconds to live, DD - 5 seconds to live, cruiser - 2 seconds to live.

So, the sun has come up over the US again? Perhaps what the world needs is less politicians and more real people.

Guaranteed some fool will buy dubloons to convert to get it, and no, it won't be me (but I wish I could). My luck with super-containers has been restricted to 15 flags a night so no chance there either. Guess I'll have to play lots (and lots and lots and lots and lots) of games.

Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]
Shaka_D replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Common player mistakes in ranked I found (mainly started taking notice around rank 5): players going off on their own bb's rushing straight into cap zones with enemy dd's still around cruisers and bb's lying wait in smoke placed too close to cap zones an apparent lack of minimap awareness and lack of situational awareness - i.e. no idea what is going on in the battle overall with complete tunnel vision teams focussing on one cap only without challenging the off cap for free points and possibly an easy kill - one person told me points don't matter no communication and team spirit - I spent a lot of time smoking bb's and ca's in my dd if I saw them in trouble lack of basics on ships, i.e. camo / flags, some players even playing stock ships (this mentality in a competitive mode like ranked perplexes me) teams splitting up early on, or players developing fear and retreating leaving some of their team to die, especially when the odds were favourable - lack of courage no focus fire - despite everyone saying so - it seems a lot of people failed to understand the concept. In numerous games I spent all game marking targets for teams while spotting in my dd. Some teams were so good they all focussed the targets marked and slowly eliminated one enemy ship at a time. More teams were very bad. no focus on weaker more obvious ships - so many BB's thought it was their primary task to shoot at enemy BB's all game, no matter what. DD's playing like cruisers revealilng their position needlessly and dying early, some DD's continuously shooting instead of using stealth to an advantage. Common Game mechanic errors: MM - some teams had radar equipped ships (one or often two), while the other had none - massive advantage from the start for radar equipped teams MM - Too many BB's or DD's mostly Map Selection - too few maps, and highly repetitive rotation Maps - spawn areas way too close to each other, some maps far too small for tier 8. Maps - When I played certain maps I found if I got that map I would always spawn one particular side each evening, never the other side. The next night I'd spawn the other side if I got the same map again. Noticed this repeatedly on North, Trident, Atlantic. Observation bias?, but really noticeable for me. Always the same spawn side for an entire evening if the same map played. It was fun at times, but not throughout. Overall I found the season frustrating, with often poor team selections, with some bad defeat streaks, watching so many players make it through to rank 5, etc only wonder how they got there. Were they carried and when it came to them needing to contribute they simply couldn't? You can't win them all, but despite playing well as I could at my current skill level often lost stars. I managed to get to rank 1 for the first time in 5 seasons, though making silly mistakes at times, but I got there and am so relieved. Playing randoms feels like childs-play now, it's a kill fest of epic proportions. To sum up ranked for me - luck plays too large a part, from the mm, to the team selection, to the rng, to the map spawn. My tactic summed up briefly: Played until I lost two games in a row, then quit. Tried again a couple fo hours later or the next day. Sorry, this post may be a load of tosh! Make of it as you will -

I'll translate the above text for the benefit of everyone else: My name is Sandy, I love this game but everytime somebody kills me they are definitely hacking and it's not fair. It's never my fault. When I look in the mirror all I see is perfection. Even my mom says so. I choose to shout because I have no ettiquette and everyone on the fourm must listen to me. I need to report all these cheaters because I know cheating when I see it cause I'm psychic psycho. Can anybody hear me, I need to know now, it's not fair, I want my money back, booohoooo (interval)...sniff sniff.

Feeling like a full english breakfast right about now. Could do with a double helping too. Lunch time seems a long way off and thinking about food is not helping. -
Incredible that out of all people in the USA these are the only two that come up as candidates for possibly the most important job in the world. You cannot help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it. I want Trump to win only because I think HC is nothing but the sterotypical corrupt lying politician with such a bad past that I find it incredulous people conveniently ignore all that she's done. And they say it's not manipulated or there are no hidden agendas. Just lol.

Does anyone not find offense in that the OP spelled the name of an iconic ship so horribly wrong? I mean, 'Misurri'??????????

I personally hate anime, and I think it cheapens the naval battle experience for me in WoWs because I'm a traditional guy in a sense. In a way anime has always seemed wierdly paedophylic in nature and never appealed, it comes across as fetishist IMHO. That said, I don't resent people that like anime in the game, it's their choice. WG have done the right thing by making it available through a certain port only since it caters for player preferences. Anime in WoWs is an offshoot experience from the main game as such and should not be forced onto everybody. I think if it ever became mainstream in WoWs where I was forced to look at these hideously colourful cartoony ships all the time I'd probably leave the game, so as it is now is perfect. I want a naval wargame in the traditional sense, not some quasi-fantasy experience with young girls commanding ships with non-realistic looking effects. Also, I don't think a reason WG they may end (?) it is because of people who don't like it. I pretty sure WG won't stop them for this reason since there seems top be a large following of anime on this forum and in game. There must be another reason if this is indeed true.

Nothing wrong with the saipan. I'm average with cv's, below even, but while taking my new hiryu out for a sail last night got beaten by a player far worse than me in his saipan. I failed to find a rhythm and he decimated my planes all through the game. Saipan is a beast and I enjoy playing mine.

Epic strap for the VR headset! Hope those undies are clean otherwise I cannot imagine it being a pleasant experience. Wtf is up with those colours anyhow? This guy a chippendale?

Double Hard [edited] Mode Thread (AKA Tier 8 CA Drivers
Shaka_D replied to Spuggy's topic in Archive
Well, took on a fuso, molotov and aoba in my Yorke, all alone versus the 3. Even though a tier higher I played a running game since I was only at half health, far off from any cap area. These 3 monkeys decided to chase me while my team mopped up everyone. I killed the molotov and aoba (from full health) by sneaky angling and firing, and firing my 6 k torps at 9 k from the enemy, and wounded the fuso which by now was under fire from team mates who had seen my plight. The Molotov player said ^&*% you to me on my citadel hit on him which finished him off, prompting the aoba to come surging forward and presenting me with some lovely broadsides, hehe. In that skirmish I came out with a third of my health from the half I had when we started the skirmish. They thought I was a wounded little duck, ripe for the plucking, but what they didn't realise was they were the prey and I was toying with my food, chipping HP of them little by little until a citadel presented itself. And food they were. -
Name and Shame....but change the name....it's all the same!
Shaka_D posted a topic in General Discussion
Let's start a name and shame topic, but let's change the name, so we're not shaming anyone 'official' are we? Worst, most pathetic story wins an imaginary trophy, but it should be enough just to vent, not so? So I had a guy named 'Simon' in a tier 8 ranked battle. Game starts and Simon says.....let's go to B on Neighbours, so to B he goes in his battleship and parks it square in the cap. 1.5 minutes later he was sinking. Then along comes Simons brother in his BB and parks next to where Simon was sinking. Another minute later he was sinking too. Then apparently we were all bad bad people for not helping them. We assumed the 4 dd's the enemy team had were not enough warning to Simon and brother. We had warned them not to go there, but you know, some guys have dodgy compasses. Moral of the story, when Simon says something, tell him to ^%$& off. Result, a precious precious star lost. No real game names, and the stories must be based on real ingame happenings. Oh, and one more rule, if you enjoy a story or find you've had a similar thing happen, give it a 'like' if you wish (only not this one cause it's the start). A 'like' a day keeps the gremlins away from you in battle...it's karma. More horror war stories to follow...stay tuned. Time for bed and a movie. -
Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]

I did exactly this when I was stuck in rank 3 and 2, I kept going backwards, then forwards. So today on a losing stream from rank 2.4 back to 2.0 I used my amagi instead of my benson, and then switched back to my benson and had a clear winning run all the way home to rank 1. I think we should patent this idea, haha. I wonder what others folks try when things are looking bad? I'm sure we all have some sort of 'coping' mechanism to try switch things around a bit? -

Shaka_D replied to Shaka_D's topic in General Discussion
This wasn't one of those situations, I'm quite familiar with the pushing concept. These guys were something out of the twighlight zone. Pushing that early on in a game when dd's are swarming about is foolhardy and we were all around, but they decided to come camp the cap area in amongst the islands. Not a good place to be for bb's early game when there are too many torps being funneled into the cap from the enemy. -
No ways, he's right. The truth is out there!

As a self confessed previous raging idiot in randoms, I think I've finally realised that legitimate rage is permissible in ranked battles, because this is where team play is massively important and counts toward a very real achievement. When I move from ranked to randoms I hardly ever rage anymore simply because everyone's just having fun and I can practice a little individual flair (and because I care little for an inconsequential thing like my win rate). So I yolo now and then, take risks, test my ships mettle, and generally cruise around firing at things. If I win I win, if I don't I don't, simple as that really. I'm not in a hurry to grind and am not trying to rush up to tier 10 on everything like so many others are. The end-game is not tier 10 for me, it's about playing ships. When I step into ranked battles or team battles, this is where my game face changes and I expect a lot from team mates, as much as they would expect from me, so I play a much harder game. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Other than this, I now laugh at anyone raging or reporting me in randoms, it's a sandbox full of fleas, just be happy and steer your ship and forget about crying wailers.

Ranked battles: Wargaming this is how you will lose me and others as a player&customer
Shaka_D replied to zriha's topic in Archive
What a load of rubbish for the most part. Break each game down, and while we all accept the the only constant is the player there are many many many other factors influencing every single game, i.e. rng, non-team balancing matchmaker, different advantages from different spawn locations, etc. etc. Your 'you're the only constant' cliche' is just that, one big cliche', so conveniently used by people who can't think further than something they heard someone else say. I'm starting to lose hope in the way some people think. -
Casual carrying the OP says, lol. Great result, but me thinks thou showest off a little?
