ARP Nachi - need more players in Russian Ships
Shaka_D replied to RokinRon's topic in General Discussion
I will play my russian ships this evening to honour your request -
Welcome aboard IDEAL, nice to see you've made the lightside leap from WoT. Wish you folks the best.

It's a really nice looking boat, but perhaps you can give us a few more details on it's displacement and whether you've used navy grade steel in the spec or not. Does she float and more importantly, does she have a cake on board with a swimsuit model hiding inside?. Well done, looks great.

Yes I agree, and price of high octane jet fuel has gone up due to Opec reducing supply resulting in an increase in the cost of oil per barrel.
-
There might be a few torpedo missions skewering the fact there ol boy.

My revelation? All game I can see dead people talking. They're usually nasty little things too wanting to report me and all. Is this normal or am I gifted?

Good Lord, a whole afternoon of playing for just _seeing_ 5 RU ships on the enemy team
Shaka_D replied to AlwaysBadLuckWithTeams's topic in General Discussion
Lets not panic simply because we cannot satisfy our need for instant gratification. I mean, really, have you noticed how people are so intent on rushing through missions to get them done because they need these things now, rather than controlling their impatience? I'm on 12 russian ships killed, was on 10 but killed two in 2 consecutive games without even noticing. We're such a feeble species aren't we, acting like ungrateful children and crying when we can't get our own way? Are you so afraid you will fail the mission to the point you are going into games and quitting when you don't see russian ships on the enemy team? All this says to me about you is you care little for your team mates and only about yourself, yet for some stupid reason OP you choose to play a team based game and then act like it's some solo quest. It's a pathetic attitude to have toward the game and toward your team mates who you are screwing over by quitting out of battle. -

Haha, yeh that was a great team and game. Tell your mate I had already planned to smoke him up before he asked, part of my job to protect my teams big guns when playing my dd's so thank goodness he used it. Often I smoke up BB's only to have them sail right through it to get blown up a minute or two later. I came near the bottom in the team that game because the rest of you were so damned competent there was nothing left for me to do, lol. Good game mate and well played to you and your division mates. -
Perhaps this particular mission should have been set up to kill russian ships by using russian ships only

Lol, thanks, I failed to look at the date. Revival of a neolithic thread.

Amissing Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
Shaka_D replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
Finally after over two weeks I got a supercontainer (with 50 000 free xp). I took it happily, thanks. -
I posted THIS a while back in the newcomers forums, no-one replied so I'm not sure if anyone claimed it, but it may be worth a try OP.

To all those people [edited] about the new IJN DDs...
Shaka_D replied to ZandersMcGrooby's topic in General Discussion
You feel better now OP? -
Clearly WG have lost the plot or they've had someone who never plays the game design the mission, or both. That's a misison I won't even try for.

Apologies to other WOWS Players, its only a game?
Shaka_D replied to Redcap375's topic in General Discussion
As a cruiser lover I feel absolutely no love for most BB team mates, especially when instead of tanking damage they sit behind the cruisers expecting cruisers to do all the work. So, if no-one looks after me then I look after no-one else. If the game results in a free-for-all with players doing stupid things, or a useless lemming train as is so common these days, then I take the opportunity to play a nice solo game. And OP....you have it wrong - just because cruisers are support ships, DOES NOT imply they have to be in front. I played my Edinburgh last night, and solo defended a cap against a Yamato. Got the reset long enough to allow an amagi to come to my aid. I asked the amagi to lead the charge, and I slotted in behind him and as we came around an island the fight began. The amagi and yamato hammered it out initially, but allowed me to close in on the yami to get some good shots in, launch torps and together we obliterated him. This is the way it should be done...BB's tank and cruisers follow and add fire and brimstone to the mix. No-one can stand against a coordinated assault in this way. Whoever thought cruisers should support by leading the charge, spotting, etc are clearly delusional and overall most people need to revisit their definition of the phrase 'support' because I've have seen so many BB players complain about cruisers not spotting while they sit back and snipe like cowardly a-holes. -
An example from me: Last night I was astonished to see shots from my Dunkerque and Warspite penetrating for major damage at maximum range, most shots grouping together briliantly. I was getting citadels with my Dunkerque all over the place, no matter how far the shot was. My Warspite was hitting BB's two tiers higher for damage ranging from 3600 to 8500 HP all over the place. Miraculous stuff. I don't normally play too well in these but last night was a wet dream. All games I could do very little wrong. Tonight I played again and from 7km and further my shots dispersed like the wind with no grouping at all, and missed so badly even the enemy laughed at my aim. My shots even missed completely stationary BB's turned side-on to me from 10km, and not once, over and over and over again. 8 shells fired, one shot hit for minimum damage. From so close and an unmoving target? This couldn't be happening, but it was. Did I suddenly forget how to aim overnight? No, I certainly haven't forgotten anything. So what has happened then? Ping and connection? All perfectly fine. Lag? None at all. I can guess though, so after 3 games of the same crapwith shots doing the strangest things I packed it in for the night. No more of this rng BS for me. What I want to know is how it all works. Because when I log in one day I tend to have terrible rng for an entire evening all evening, and logging in at other times (perhaps the next day) I may have good rng all evening. I thought this was on a game by game basis, or shot by shot basis, not decided when I log in? Observation bias? No, just an keen observation from experience. If this is how WG wants it to work they sure know how to screw it up for us, that's for sure. These are not subtle differences, there are stark contrasts from one figurative evening to the next for me, maybe not consecutive days, but definitely noticeable / as plain as daylight. 3 games is all I could stomach, 3 little games. Way to go Wargaming, good thing you have it so fine-tuned. Whether I feel like playing tomorrow is another thing. Perhaps most of the braindead horde pass along without paying attention to much in the game except their WASD keys and left click button, but for me I try to do well, I aim carefully, I play as careful as possible, I tend to be more cautious these days than reckless and my reward is an RNG that laughs in my face. So...perhaps I should just say [edited]it and play like a yolo-artist.

I have a feeling the WG EU effort to offer us black friday specials was more in reaction to us complaining rather than them having planned something beforehand. In fact, it reaks of it. It's probably for this reason it seemed pretty lacklustre. I was mildy tempted by the Scharnhorst but decided to be very very selective about what I spend on from now on. The only thing I am willing to spend on without thought is a premium account, and I'd rather do this by the month because who knows how long I'll play this game for. I would hate to pay for a years premium and then give up the game 2 weeks later. As a consumer I'd personally rate the weekend as disappointing. You can't please everybody, but you could at least try.

I always have a little laugh when I see people make the above remarks. 'Collecting' or 'hoarding', probably the same thing in this case and probably not so much as to add any real value to anything but more to suit a personal fetish of wanting to be able to gather all our belongings into a single little box so to speak so we can say 'look at all my stuff, it's all mine'. In the case of the virtual realm, collecting in Wot or WoWs or elsewhere, the joke is on us isn't it, because the true value of the collection is not real, only perceived and will definitely disappear one day with nothing than a few screenshots to show for it. I wonder why we do it then? Sad really, and shows a serious vulnerability of the human psych. Ultimately we're idiots...and do note I keep referring to 'we', because once upon a time I did and said the same. We're buying and collecting stuff that has zero actual value and is a terribly poor investment with no long term return, hehe.
-
You're talking quantitative and qualitative factors here respectively, and believe it or not both of these mechanisms have credance in many circles of educated understanding. The human brain is able to calculate and 'feel', and while some of it may be what some call 'observation bias' etc, it is able to recognise patterns, perceive changes, and so on. We only use a small fraction of our brains, so all we know now as accepted 'understanding' is derived only from that small part that is actually working. There are still many things we don't understand about our ability to perceive things, but that doesn't necessarily make it untrue. Trusting your 'instinct' is often a very wise course of action. You can see many arguments on the forums from people who are perhaps predominantly right or left sided brain users, but hardly any who can sit the middle ground and observe both types....until me, cause I am Batman.

Tough choice, spend money on Steam now, or wait till monday? Definitely visiting Steam this evening though to see what's on offer. Can't spend on both so where oh where will my little stash of cash go? Hard to imagine but from a cursory glance at Steam last night it all looks so good. Anyone find some good stuff going?

Festive Cheer Prize Draw - Do you feel lucky!
Shaka_D replied to Major_Riff's topic in General Discussion
I withdraw my entry. -
We're a difficult bunch to please, so WG appear to opting for the option of 'let's not please them at all' and forget Black Friday even exists. Well, either this or they are aguing right now on what to do to make us happy, haha.
-
Because it has more to do with merchandise and the economy rather than thanksgiving. Christmas was the same once, so was Easter, so were many many other celebrations and events that now occur worldwide. Most, if not all, had their origins in a single place. Black friday is no longer an event isolated to a single country. It is now an accepted annual event in the UK, and highly anticipated each year. The argument of it 'is an american thing' is no longer adequate. It only has it's origins there, nothing more. WG does not have to do it, but if they refuse to acknowledge BF as a fast growing phenomenon worldwide then they are the ones fast asleep at the wheel and will miss out on great potential. It's win win for everyone.
