It wasn't a poor investment for us on day 1. I got 6 ships (Kutuzov, arizona, lo yang, texas, marblehead, indianapolis) from £50. Not to mention a little dubloons, and loads of signals and camo (and yes, some of them were the terrible new years 'paintjob')

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Shaka_D replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Sonic_157 and his toon mate on hotspot on the opposite team. My team won, but the battle was long and I was a coward and hid my kutuzov behind an island and just tried to set everyone on fire. His toon mate eventually killed me with a sneaky flanking move around the island, i had expected it but not two ships. Lucky (and unlucky) for me I had a friendly bb between me and them and could'nt torp where I wanted to. Resigned to firing the main guns while I ran away and blew up a few km away. Was a great game. -
........I would hope for some sort of cohesive mindset and a fairly orderly dispersion of the team, but lately it's ummm...rather unique, and these are randoms so the only way I can explain it is thus: Just as it was in Wot, mmmmm

Dispersion (=luck factor) = OK: but it should affect ALL ships

Sorry, but you're wrong with regard to cv's not being weak. Not much has been done to them and more and more ships are being introduced with better AA, especially BB's. Now, this is all fair and well if perhaps a tier 9 cv was playing against a tier 9 BB, but when I get uptiered in my tier 7 cv to a game against iowa's, bismarcks, roons, neptunes, etc etc etc, then the high likelihood of having your plane pool reduced dramatically by simply flying in the near vicinity of ships like this results in a short and pointless game for the cv. Add to this that cv's don't make that much in terms of xp and credits for an incredibly harder game at times further reduces the likelihood of more people continuing to play them. They are harder to play, they are not as richly rewarded, their planes do suffer from the effects of powercreep, they get uptiered into games against ships with powerful AA capabilities, and the CV player is often blamed for failing the team by players on a witch hunt. It's probably one of the most unappreciated classes in the game and difficult to balance of course. Increasing the pool of planes might make it easier for players to continue trying. Finally, if uptiering a player was a rare experience we could argue it's an acceptable scenario, but this does not happen, we spend more time these days in uptiered battles than same tier. -

So when you cut through all the carefully worded sentences by the OP all we have is another whine about a BB being sunk? To the OP: Firstly, there are seldom many games with cv's in them anymore - ask why? Secondly, BB's already DOMINATE this game far too much - in fact I'd go as far to say BB's are borderline ruining it because numbers in each and every game are too high! If anything CV's are too weak. WG have done nothing to improve their play and they seem to have suffered from powercreep. WG have buffed AA etc so now as a cv player it's hard to do well unless you're an outstanding player. Lastly, you have only played one cv according to your stats (am I looking in the wrong place?). You also appear challenged in terms of trying to win games so I would be fairly certain that the reason you struggle a lot of the time is not because of anything relating to game mechanics, but rather due to the fact you are not really playing intelligently at the moment. You seem to being doing something wrong and need to work on minimising the number of times you become a victim of your own making in battles. -
My minotaur in a game a short while ago...had two atagos come at me at maybe 13km, followed by a montana. So, fired a nicely placed spread of torps, turned and fired the rest, then waited for the atago's to broadside to evade and boom, two dead atago's with a torped montana, although he wasn't dead. By then I had received help since our border hugging bb had returned to the game and he finished off the montana. Bad players, yes, most likely but I was able to fool them for a while juking left and right to evade a few shots and altering speed, and using smoke too of course. Much of it is situational and depends on the quality of player you are and who you are against.

I was always taught to respect my elders so decided long ago not to pursue this line of attack enquiry, haha

Kamikaze 'green' and Smith in shop
Shaka_D replied to Captain_Singleton's topic in General Discussion
I agree with you there, if you don;t have one of the variations of this little beauty you should get her, it's a really fun dd to play. -
Indeed, I have so many new years camo (over 700) which give you more free xp but no other perks whatsoever. I wonder why WG made the decision to exclude the other stuff from the camo.

Make an item rare, increase the sales. Fell for it once, not again. -

Smith is meh, kamikaze probably as good as my Kamikaze R, but since I have the R I don't need the green, My next mission is to get the Missouri in port, still 270k'ish off but creeping. -
Rofl, no answer to this!

Apologies if anyone experienced my rage ingame last night, I didn't even look to see if there were forumites when I set of on a tirade of frustration at gloating red players telling us how great a game they had after some bad whitewashes. I was like a ranting diva, and had chilli's shoved in my mouth by the Mrs. afterwards. -
What do you mean hint mate, I've only mentioned it twice in randoms posts so far, what took you so long to notice? Cheers, but where do the buses go to?
-
Had to put my very last entry in here. I decided on a whim this evening to buy two more captains boxes (middle ones) as a birthday present to myself (cheapskate cause I blew my money before Christmas, haha). Not hoping for much the first box was camo's..... but the second was the ship I wanted all along.....the beautiful scharnhorst.....do I feel lucky now, wahay! What a way to end this for me, on a lovely high note.

Mentioned in the linked post that just last night our teams' yamato provided AA cover for our carrier on the border line.....all game. After a few consecutive tier 8 to 10 games I kept seeing BB players hang back on our team (bad mm for me) while enemy bb's were tanking damage for theirs and pushing. Our cruisers were all upfront taking the fight to the enemy but our bb's just wouldn't budge any closer than max range. Yes, I realise the same assumption cannot be made of all bb players, but there is a new brand of stupid people playing bb's with no intention of winning or contributing to team effort. Thsi whole fiasco is not made better with WG pushing missions promoting bb play.

Battleship players: what is your problem? Why won't you tank?
Shaka_D replied to Ferry_25's topic in Archive
Last night I played a few games in my Neptune. After a couple of games seeing the same thing where battleships hung far back and let cruisers take the fight to the enemy tier 9 and 10 battleships, I finally gave up. We lost most of the time because of this, where the enemy bb's were tanking damage and our bb's ended up alive and alone to fight off 3/4 of the enemy team. One game like this I could handle, but quite a few of the same thing exentually led to me complaining to random bb players who naturally thought I was mad, although the cruiser fellas were all agreeing with me. The game that was the last straw was watching our Yamato, from the game's beginning, shadow our carrier and provide AA cover for him at the border line. No use complaining to these braindead fools, what they actually need is a smack in the face, followed by my wish being for one of them to magically appear before me to receive it with interest. -
Grow up guys, those aren't insults, they're just words from puky people. If you take it personally then it's your own fault. I raged at many players during and after matches, and used some tasty language at times, and I've had the same done to me too. All in all no-one really deserves this unless they're intentional afk'ers, team killers, or bots, but the game is competitive and we can't always choose our team mates, and there are some really pretty stupid people out there in high tier ships so you have to understand the frustration people feel is inevitable. Learn to ignore it and the trolls go away, learn to not take it seriously or to cry like babies and it all disappears and the person who said the mean words may actually feel bad when their temper cools down, I know I do. If you have't learned to ignore harmless words then maybe you will one day. It doesn't excuse anything but you should expect that things like this will happen on the internet and learn to deal with it without acting all shocked that someone said something mean. There are things I too don't like too, for instance when someone wishes you cancer or Aids, or when they are hideously racist or extremist in some way, but then you report them and WG will take action. Other than this, add them to your blacklist and never hear from them again, simple as that, and above all else.....do not take it to heart for goodness sake! How could they possibly know you or the type of person you are. Stick and stones fellas......

More than 3 months since release, and Royal Navy smoke is still buggy as heck
Shaka_D replied to Kassiba's topic in General Discussion
Yep, keep experiencing the same problem. I know how to handle my brit ships and stopping in smoke is usually easily done, but 3 times in two nights I've deployed smoke - 1 puff and stopped outside the smoke - going as slowly as I usually go. Never really had this before. The one puff business is BS. -
Remind me when me meet one day to buy you a beer or coke or something. Well stated.

Yes, she's the perfect construct of destruction, unless you have only mastered the w key and sail straight into the enemy battle line.
-
Indeed, my precious toooooooooo! Gearing is formidable in the right hands. She's sluggish (or is it a he?) but she's great to fight with. Not sure what your detecton range is, mine is at 6.6km I think without the 5th skill. Love her to bits and now I have a few credits I may test her a bit more to test for weaknesses (in bb hulls of course - hehe).
-
With my 16.5km torps I don't need guns. I just need to be cruisin around sowing seeds of destruction every 1,5 mins. Guns are only to steal kills with to set fire and finish almost dead ships and help my team when they need me
