I suppose people form their own opinions and whether they like a ship or not can depend on individual play styles. For me, as mentioned earlier, I watched two players of similar skills fight it out, a tier 7 dd versus the Friesland. Tier 7 dd almost won hands down were it not for a little luck. This brings me to two of your comments above: The very fact you need an unfair fight to make a ship work properly rings a massive alarm bell......especially from what I witnessed when the tier dd 77 basically raped all the frieslands hp in moments. Secondly, cv's hardly feature in the game at all and when they do it's one cv in a game at this level. Why AA is so important I will never know. Assigning AA skills to captains and ships seems like a waste to me, apart from perhaps clan wars where cv's are allowed? A dd is not a dd without her torps, unless they make her remarkable in some other way and from what I've seen and heard the Friesland is not remarkable at all. It's perhaps a cheap attempt to appease the European tech tree and delete some hard earned free xp. She doesn't have to be OP, but WG's marketing of her abilities is overly inflated.

Just watched two players duke it out, both of similar skill. One guy in a tier 7 french dd (Vauq..) took on a Friesland in a straight out gunfight. Tier 7 frenchy almost wiped the Friesland out in a few salvos. Friesland narrowly won with a couple of thousand hp left when it killed the frenchy. Both started at full health. Not good for the Friesland at all. I suspect it's rubbish and not even worth half the free xp they're selling it for. Shell velocity of the Fries looked really slow and took ages to cover the max distance to target.

Looking strictly at the title of the OP's post, without even knowing him / her, do you think it's possible, even remotely, for it to be a bug AND for the OP to be an idiot, botH at the same time? It is comedy hour isn't it? Just kidding OP.

Those random bundles are completely boring and massively underwhelming...who on earth would part with that much coal for such insignificant rewards? 3000 coal is far superior to those silly little bundles, lol. Have WG gone completely bonkers? Who's the guy that is putting a value on their goods?

The simply truth is its been discussed on numerous forums and will likely never happen, but to be honest, I don't mind having people off all abilities on my team - just as long as the opposing team has a similar number / spread of mixed ability so we all have a reasonably similar number of noobs, newbies, average Joe's, semi pro's and pro's. It's when the mm by its random nature pits a majority group of good players versus a majority group of baddies against each other that causes problems

Looking forward to this, hope it turns out well. How would a person get in on the testing for this, I applied numerous times to be allowed to help test ships, it feels like the natural next step for me given I've been married to WG for so long already. Am I a bad person and that's why I'm being ignored?

Best idea ever, it get's my vote. Someone recognises me and says 'Hi Shaka', and all I can say is 'Fair winds and following seas' or 'Wilco'. Crazy stupid.

The current system is definitely not optimal and even the 'top player retaining his star on the losing team' is not good enough to satisfy the requirements of a fair system because we all see how that fails currently, well, everyone apart from WG apparently. Before I eventually raked out this time, I suffered numerous games where I had fought to almost the last minute of a battle to gain a star, with sweaty palms and a pacing heartbeat, and then to lose it again within a few minutes because a few players in my team in the next game suicided, were afk, raced in died and left, etc etc etc. To work so hard for a star only to lose it so quickly is unforgivable and its unforgivable for WG to expect me to suck that up happily. No, the current ranked battles format is wrong and WG are blind or ignorant as hell to think otherwise. Or they're just being lazy. I'd like to see what can be done, although I kind of like the idea of the top few players on losing team retaining their star if their xp exceeds that of the bottom few players on winning side. You decide the number, but one is not enough. Those that simply do not pull their proverbial weight in a battle should NOT be rewarded with a winners star, etc. This system is counter-productive and will result in anger and frustration - is this what WG wants? Seems so, or they need to get educated and fast.

Eventually ranked out in a bizarre way, had an almost clear run though rank 3 and 2 all the way to 1 without even trying, showing how much luck has to do with it. I've had to reflect on why I took part this year because the cost to myself and others has been too high. I've raged and been frustrated all the way through and when rank 1 eventually arrived it was with such a bitter taste. I lost my self-respect, made a few friends but also a lot of enemies. This isn't the way I want to play the game. I wish I had the self-control to swallow my pride and be more tolerant of others so I guess I need to work on this part of myself quite earnestly. It's the only mode where the rewards are significant enough to warrant participation, every other mission with a few signals, credits or coal here and there are really meh, not really doing anything to make me want to log in, though I doubt WG will ever see this. Not sure what the solution is, I say I won't do it again but since I don't do clan wars there is no other way for me to earn steel. I guess I need yoga or something. I saw a guy do it with beer and he played really shite! I don't want to be that guy.

I cannot play the game without knowing what's going on and what might happen as a battle processes and it's usually easy to tell if a game is lost or won early on. A lot of this awareness comes from experience from knowing maps strengths and weaknesses, ships speeds, and from previous battles fought - even knowledge of certain player tactics. Many maps and people play out remarkably predictably, i.e. always go to the same place, same speed, same format over and over. It wasn't something I conscientiously worked on, but an awareness that naturally developed the more I played. This awareness is an invaluable tool and makes you a far better player......if you use it. Surprisingly, it seems the majority of people I have seen in the game do not have it or they ignore its obvious benefits. It's a wisdom that flows naturally, so do some people find it too hard to think about? How is it that this type of natural experience does not occur in so many players? They want the game to be about fun? Is it not fun trying to win and how is thinking strategically on a basic level contrary to having fun? These are the million dollar questions, and if someone buys me 100 legion of honour containers I might share it......hahahahahahahahaha. What, too cheap? On a more serious note, it's incredible how vacant some human beings really are and how thinking on such rudimentary levels is too taxing for them. Even more surprising is the sheer quantity of them you find playing games like this. No wonder unicums and great players exist. Were it not for these knuckledragging windowlickers, we wouldn't have elitism in the game, but as long as they remain on the enemy team....great cannon fodder when facing them, really horrible though when they're fighting alongside you.

Lack of torpedos compensated for by rapid firing guns and 'decent AA defences'....It's the AA part that gets me. CV's hardly feature in the game anymore and even if so there are only usually one per match, so why are AA defences even a 'thing' anymore. I'd be quite happy to take my chances without AA in randoms. It's my opinion AA is highly overstated by WG and over-advertised as a feature but plays a rather insignificant part in the game compared to everything else. Trying to sell a dd off to us partly because of it's 'AA' is hyperbole and a false claim by WG in trying to justify how the lack of something rather vital is made up for by the addition of something else rather insignificant.

Now some fool admits how drunk he is, sails his dd straight into enemy ships at the start and then says...'oh, so much radar'. Star lost. Took me 15 minutes to earn the previous star, this one was lost in 3.

93 battles to reach rank 3...then it all went to hell. Bad luck, bad games, bad rng, back to rank 7, now back to rank 4 then 5 again. rested, took a break, same again. Cannot break through and over a 100 games more. Giving up. Seeing so many mogadors and it takes two dds on a team to counter a single aggressive mogador, even when played by a fairly amateur player. Not fun WG, not fun at all. No skill needed, just need to keep playing the mm lotto. It's heartbreaking really. Being reported, seeing tempers flare, so much toxicity (me too), chat banned over and over again (not deserved - honest). Rank is a cesspit of despair and draws out the worst in people. I had so many games where players suicided in seconds, shot each other, were afk. I fight hard to get a star, then next game it's lost in moments because of the aforementioned behaviour.

Some folk around these parts have a lot, and I mean a lot, to learn about what the term 'free' truly means and how free something truly is when it's said to be 'free'. Cost can be assigned to something in many ways...not merely financially, but if you're young then I don't expect you to understand that concept just yet. Sry, don't intend to be arrogant or patronising.

Does it really matter if we get supercontainers or not, you do realise that WG can most likely tweak the drop rate of items in SC's so even though the package comes wrapped in a SC gift wrap, don't expect any exceptional prizes....very rare indeed.

Indeed, in fact I tried another try you luck and again only got two type 5 camo's.....I'd rather get nothing, the container itself is worth more than 10 of these camo's, and we only get two? Lool

So currently on my 4th chat ban for no reason at all, not said a word. In fact, just to give you an exampelof how stupid this ban system is, you have guys in game encouraging others to use the report function to block players deliberately, which seems a little counter-productive if you ever end up on their team. The whole system is fubar. I can;t answer anyone, I can't offer advice or acknowledge criticism, etc. Stupid as can be. Well done WG, killing a fly with a sledgehammer.

Just witnessed two members from the same clan on opposing teams in a ranked game. It was a lost game for me and the clan guy in his dd was allowed to fire for at least a minute at his clan mate in his alaska totally unopposed....totally unconcealed. Will anything be done to stop this kind of bs? Of course not, WG loves it.

What gamescon mission?

Does it hurt to give them a chance? If it doesn't work out then so be it, but better for having tried and failed than not having tried at all in this particular case. Diversifying the game content only keeps more people interested in playing it.
