Which Tier VI Premium (from completing directives) are you hoping for?
Shaka_D replied to Favuz's topic in General Discussion
I know I'm getting the West Virginia already. -
Yūdachi : Buy or No Buy: Help Please
Shaka_D replied to Rhineheart_Thor's topic in General Discussion
I started reading the topic and automatically thought...why do so many people always have to have others make up their mind for them, is no-one able to think for themselves or make their own decisions? But then I read your whole post and have to take it all back because you sound like you could be a good guy. Just admitting my faults, haha. -
I'm done, quality of games made me quit.

There are an awful lot of assumptions in your post, an awful lot. How could you possibly know the author has simply burned out and there is nothing else underlying, what if posts like his were symptomatic of something else? You can't. And it's not only trauma that leads to such events. So, on the contrary, it's your post that shows how little you know on the subject. In fact you risk being what you accuse others of being, a prize plum. -
I reckon, because it's only ranked sprints and hence like a baby ranked mode with no seriousness attached, I'll play as many different tier 8 ships as I can...although I'm more of a dd main. Might actually also take out my cv's for a spin. The point is, anything goes a baby.

Recruiting Station: a New Referral Program with Fresh Rewards!
Shaka_D replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Can we get a free container for getting people not to join the game? I think I've accidentally scared away a lot of people so far and even helped breed a little dissillusionment in some who currently play, albeit a lot less now. I could be persuaded to try the opposite approach if WG let me in to the sub test and perhaps stopped advertising 'free' stuff which is not technically free. This 'free' crate offer requires us to recruit for WG, which if successful means even one paying customer could bring in a fair amount of money for WG - so are the rewards for doing so truly on equal terms? I don't think so. Also, there is a bonfire sock puppet in this forum, a little birdie sang. -
I can't help but laugh at how seriously people take these ranked sprints. Compared to full ranked and clan wars, these editions are child's play and hardly worth getting upset over, yet people lose thier sh£* so badly, it beggars belief. What a great mode to take almost any ship in and just experiment. Keep getting reported too because some folks start dictating battle tactics and I don't like being 'told' what to do. Honestly, been here too long to tolerate this kind of silly childishness from drama queens.

Steering it was a real problem, so good luck when that translates in the game, and seas sickness was even worse....bad bad rate of fire. Only for die-hard fans

It might also be someone of really weak character who's ego is so frail they need to somehow make themselves feel good in some way, even if it is through slaughtering innocents at tier 1. Yes, there really are people like this.

submarines SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions
Shaka_D replied to WG_Lumberjack's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure I was one of the first to volunteer to help test, I signed up as the article went live and yet I'm not in the test. So a first come first serve argument is not truthful then. Have they selected people randomly? -
Last time took me far too many to rank out, this time it took me 16 battles. That's more like it for sprint.
-
Played with folks with win rates of around mid 30% at one point, that was sad on so many levels. Someone posted this on a WOT forum once and it always makes me laugh because it's so true.

Let me guess, you're desperate for coal right? A ship you're looking at getting and you particularly want more coal for this purpose? The fact is WG can tweak drop rates as much as they like without us knowing, and probably do, but unless someone actually takes huge numbers of samples we'll never know for sure just what they are doing. Not forgetting the randomness of it all and a bit of false remembering on your part maybe? When we really want some things we're often impatient and it leads to all sorts impressions and assumptions that are not necessarily true. Be patient.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
Shaka_D replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
WG are able to tweak drop rates without us ever knowing for certain and I'm pretty certain they do. There's what they tell us, what they say they do / don't do, and then what the good Lord above knows they do behind closed doors. Money is after all the 'root of all evil'. I must admit I was pleased with my SC's. Never got a ship, but we are working towards a tier 6 reward (for grinding) after all. I got less of the average signals and more Camo's, 37 days premium time (stopped buying premium a while back), dubloons, about 60k coal (so got my Smolensk), lots of special signals, etc. To be honest, I value the average signals as not even remotely worthy of being in SC's. Special signals, camo's, dubloons, coal, steel, ships, permanent camo's, premium time, etc. These should all be in SC's because they so rarely come about. -
Surprising how frail so many ego's are though.

So where do real man play at? ☆ (tier)
Shaka_D replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
Real men play tier 8 cruisers with severely restricted gun ranges in tier 10 battles against tier 10 cruisers, bb’s and cv’s. -
Friesland: before you spend your FXP
Shaka_D replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Lol, it seems each has his own view. Dutch to many was something used when you needed to clear your throat of phlegm....haha, but then Afrikaans came close to it too. Suppose you can say Afrikaans is to Dutch what American English is to UK English....although to be fair when you get to England they seem just as confused about certain things, like the pronounciation of words like scone et al, so perhaps the Americans and South African Boers took the overly complex languages of their respective home countries and made them far more practical, haha. They had no time to concern themselves with semantics while trying to tame the various wildernesses -
It's early days folks, give them a chance to try fit them in to a comfortable area in the game. I for one am quite grateful they're trying to add more variety.

Its the afrikaans I remember learning - I left SA 12 years ago to steal someones job in England, or so I've been told, haha. My guess is IronPipe is from SA. Afrikaans is basically Dutch but much much more improved....the boers refined it to actually make sense...hehehehehehhe -
My 1 year anniversary and a (mostly) fond farewell
Shaka_D replied to Bindolaf_Werebane's topic in General Discussion
People reach a plateau and may become despondent as they feel their progression stall. It's natural. Sometimes to monotony of the game may get to you and the grind can wear a person down. That's also WG's fault though - it's their formula. The game is heavily win centric, and I personally think this has a lot to do with why players feel so frustrated at times, because winning in this game means better progression, more rewards. I left WoT because of things like this and the stupid missions requiring very lucky rng and the perfect conditions to achieve them, which rarely came about. I suspect the same will happen to me here, but WG have never really had long term / ongoing retention plans for veterans and loyalty. They are one hit wonders who think they can at times do something special (although this event was really nice to be fair) and then assume this is enough to retain long term support. Not so sure this is the case. The grind is tedious, the win centric formula is worse, but occasionally they surprise us such as with the upcoming subs. Although........they still haven't invited me to test ships, nor the sub beta, etc etc....so right about now I'm a little out of love with them. Playing lots of others games now too, and this is key to maintaining your sanity. -
Has anyone tried the code THUMB...just heard it gives stuff from a Flamuu stream. I heard 'THUMB = 15 random daily containers plus a chance for a SC'. Can't verify, am at work.

Ek stem saam ou boet, ek is n bietjie bang dat ek 1mil fxp weg gooi! I'm waiting to see how it plays out in the long run, I like my dd's to have torps. It doesn't appear to fit my play style, I like to occupy the area between my cruisers and bb's and the enemy. I like spotting, capping, torping and playing an opportunistic game but with an aggressive flair. This ship has me worried and I refuse to simply believe a few random results which could have been lucky and those scores posted by better players. No assumptions can be made yet. -
Submarines Beta Test: Are You Ready to Submerge?
Shaka_D replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
no mail either......waaahaaaaa -
I keep telling myself to do it all in one go, but to be honest I haven't got the patience. I opened 7 last night, one by one, and will try again tonight to see how many I can get before succumbing to temptation....18 more to go but I suspect I'll be weak.

The 25% coupon for Premium Ships in the Armory. Are you going to pick something up?
Shaka_D replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Was thinking about picking up the Exeter but living on 'end of the month salticrax' at the moment (for those older generation South Africans who might get this advert as reference, haha). I think a port slot should automatically be included but not as an additional cost. If you're spending cash on a premium ship the port slot should be at no cost.
