Can't see the point of flags, or camos anymore for that matter. Personally, I'll never bid on things like this. They're inconsequential in their current form; irrelevant aesthetic things that I would rather do without yet somehow WG have monetised them, haha. I like my ships looking genuine. Though I do respect others feel very differently to me and that's perfectly ok. No right or wrong in it either way.

Submarines are designed to be impossible to counter. Change my mind.
Shaka_D replied to _TedStriker's topic in General Discussion
No one can change your mind if you’ve already decided. All I can say is they’re not impossible to counter based on my own experience playing in them and against them. Have you played a number of games in subs to give an unbiased pov? Of course I’ll get neg repped for offering a view in support thereof, but my personal opinion is subs add a new depth to gameplay and most still have to learn how to adapt their gameplay with this new class in the mix. Over time they’ll prob be nerfed or buffed dependent on their overall performance, but the truth is not everyone likes change and sometimes the change is too much and people leave. You have to decide your own levels of tolerance. Try play a dd in ranked against 3 radar cruisers and a cv. Makes sub counter play look ludicrously easy. Just saying. -
So another ‘should’ statement trying to fob us off for a while. They’ve not bothered with an official statement because it’s not a technical issue, it’s a choice they made and are deliberately not acting on it.
-
Well, then they've changed it from a ship I wanted to a ship I'll never want with those current specs.

Ranked is likely only a get rich scheme for the very best of us who can progress all the way through in one go. Many simply use it to farm steel anyhow and are content to stay in one place and don’t care if they finish the season in rank 10, as long as they have the rewards, so maybe they could vary the tier a little. I personally hate tier 5 but stuck it out to silver and I don’t have a lot of playtime either. Good luck!
-
It could be a technical issue to do with the migration, but experience and common sense tells me it’s less about what they are saying, and more about what they are not saying. There have been no reasonable explanations for something like this, given its impact on quite a few people and the advent of so many in game events etc. which would have been made cheaper by using the coupon. It’s simply not in WG’s best interests to give away doubloons and money when the need for instant gratification by players is such an enriching tool for WG. So no, to me this isn’t a technical issue, the fix would have come long ago if it was, simple as that.

Why not progress through bronze to silver. It all blows, but the tiers improve. No point whining in bronze if you can’t be bothered to try progress. Can’t be carried forever matey! Don’t be one of those people.

Yep, there's definitely more to this than a technical glitch. And the rinse and repeat of the same pointless info is only because WG's perception of who we are is not who we are in reality. They've yet to realise that while they're looking out through what they think it one-way glass, we can see them quite clearly.

Were you born yesterday? Some of us have been around a while matey, get with the programme.

More than you might realise, obviously.

Permanent Camouflages: How to Stand Out From the Crowd at Sea
Shaka_D replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Camos, now nothing but pure aesthetic, are pointless. My ships look better as their rusty selves, more realistic. Why not take it further and make overlays / live 3d camos for those that want to see a sailor or two running around, etc? That would make it more immersive.- 26 replies

Ask the original owner of the account?

Why, next week of course.

A third option could be its not a technical issue but motivated by something else entirely.

I think it's time:

Well, didn't get my birthday coupon, so decided to tone down my spend on BF, i.e. spent around £17 for dubs, to add to the couple of thousand dubs left in my account. I went for the shin b via the bundles in the armoury, and from the premium containers got the asashio b and tirpitz b, finished the last 6 or so stages of battle pass and still left with just over 3000 dubs and whatever all the bits and pieces were inbetween in the bundles and from the battle pass. Cannot complain. Thanks WG. If I'd got that coupon there was the liklhood of me splashing out a little more, but very happy with these results. Got far more than I hoped from the little I spent.
-
WG are reading this, they’re just choosing to not care. They also know this goes beyond a technical issue and is now in ludicrous territory. They’ve obviously decided to stop their birthday bonus thing and are just being dishonest about it.

And….ships look better as their vanilla selves as opposed to being all painted up with some nonsense #frostyfircamosucks

Hello Wargaming? Remember us? We’re still here. A little older than last week, a little more disappointed than last week. I had planned to top up my doubloons, do you no longer want my cash? Did we do something wrong? No? Well then, how about some real, truthful information and a date. Thanks in advance (don’t waste my custom and thanks).

That's reasonable advice, but I've seen a multitude of games which suggest that's not entirely true. Are we to apply the exact same philosphy to bb's, dd's, cv's and cruisiers. The only way to counter a dd in a bb, the only way to counter a cv in a dd, the only way to counter a ....and so on. It's rock, paper scissors, with an added element. It's situational. No point being defeatist. No doubt hard to do in each case, but doable and certainly does not present an argument which makes subs an easier class to play than other vessels and harder to kill than anything else. Remember dd's before radar and when RL wasn't a thing? Deadlier than subs, by far. My experience in subs so far has been they're extremely vulnerable and extremely situational. ASW can wipe them out in a couple of drops, they get targetted very quickly because of the psychological threat they pose and people tend to get high targetting a sub, their dive time is very limited and pinging and damage to the sub all give great clues to their location under water, which I've seen very successfuly taken advantage of by many players over and over again. The i-56 I was (un)lucky enough to get in a first random bundle has 12.5km non-homing torps (nice and 30 odd sec reload which is quick), a terrible 7.1km detection range, a ridiculous 2m dive time, 6.3km (or 6.5 - cant remember) homing torps (fair enough). You have to get close to do any accurate damage (if the ping isn't cleared) and its often a suicide run, and it has no subcounter while diving. It has many negatives making it very vulernable. I might be playing it very badly, but it seems to have a high skill ceiling to make it work IMHO. All anecdotal of course, but makes it no less true than opposing views I reckon.
-
Textbook scenario for when pinged by a sub could be to turn away or angle and sounds fair enough...BUT...trying to do this early to mid game with too many enemy ships about, especially bb's, sounds like a recipe for disaster. Many counters are taken for granted that they need to happen mid battle when you may risk becoming the focus of other ships too. Who can resist a nice juicy target that lines itself up for your guns?

The edited gets real: submarines in early access
Shaka_D replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
The i-56 is a real piece of rubbish - if it's ever available to buy, don't. That's my advice. Anti sub players should rejoice at this trashy thing. It's killed easily, can only dive for 2 mins, spotted easily, has no sub scanny thing of its own, and apart from the SAP gun with it's severely situational use, it's no threat to anyone. ASW is taking care of subs all game, every game with ease. -
Problem has gone on too long now without any real explanation. But then again, it's not like trust in this company is at an all time high now, is it? At least we have to credit them for their tenacitiy of making sure that when they hit the bottom, they plan to stay there, lol.
