I think WG are the ultimate trolls this ranked season. Can't wait to see the kickback against them when they stream on Thursday, lol. edited: edited some stuff out
-
Is it a nightmare in ranked? Not tried it yet.
-
The mad thing is I enjoy playing a cv, I really do, but that doesn;t stop me getting mad when I have little to no defence against one in my dd or from feeling really sorry for a dd player when I consistently target him and there's little he can do other than play alongside bigger ships, which defeats the whole purpose of dd gameplay.
-
I'm not sure you can classify that as resistant, you're not a carrier when you're potenitally the living embondiment of something. That's like saying Hannibal L is resistant to being a psychopathic killer because he is one?, or a spy is resistant to being a spy because he is a spy? Just kidding!
-
I agree, but the potential downside to everyone playing them is that WG in their infinte wisdom will then classify cv's as an extremely popular class, resulting in buffs, more cv's in the premium shop, etc etc. It's a supply and demand thing.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Shaka_D replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Sadly just saw a wellknown member of our community deliberately throw a game with his two clan mates. Can't really express how disappointing that was to watch. Edit: Damn, and he's a streamer I follow!! Well, just unfollowed. I don't have a huge amount of time to play weekdays and that game cost me a full spread of special signals... So annoying Shaka, just be quiet -
Nerfing dd but increasing their survivability and effectiveness in cv games - yay or nay?
Shaka_D replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
Looks like someone feels the need for quid pro quo? Make of my experience as you will, the fact remains as I said it - no matter how you try to look at it. Were I a new player, so be it, but I'm not. I leave it there. Hope you and your comrades have a great day. Cheers fella. -
Nerfing dd but increasing their survivability and effectiveness in cv games - yay or nay?
Shaka_D replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
I just had a lovely little argument with a cv imbecile in a game a few minutes ago. I do so love the fools who quickly shout 'use your smoke', as if it's there ready and instant whenever you need it. The game started and the enemy cv found me in my dd within the first minute - he hunted me from that moment on until I was dead. Smoke needs to recharge and a cv player who is determined, even though he had no skill to speak of, has no problem killing a dd. Now WG in all their fantasmal wisdom would argue it all works well, but the expensive signals I mounted on my dd before the game and the camo, etc were gone within 3 minutes of the game starting, without me being able to do anything. Now I had worked hard for some of those rare signals, doing mission after mission to get them...only to see them disappear in their consumable glory without even being able to marginally capitalise on their added benefits. I blame WG for this, they owe me those signals back. What peaves me off more about this is WG's indifferent attitude and utter denial that the system is broken, despite the fact people are screaming this at them. -
Should you "return to port" when you see an unbalanced matchmaking
Shaka_D replied to Air_Cheese's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but this has less to do with respect and more to do with necessity based on a desire to win.. -
Should you "return to port" when you see an unbalanced matchmaking
Shaka_D replied to Air_Cheese's topic in General Discussion
While I agree with you in principle, I certainly do not think it is disrespectful in any way whatsoever. The respect part is highly subjective - those going into games in fail divs, with bot like behaviour, etc or some idiot in a tier 10 with a tier 1 mentality can all also be seen as disrepectful...in which case I often feel like leaving. The only reason not to leave is because you lose the chance to make points for yourself...nothing more, nothing less. There is no reciprocated respect in carrying mindless fools around game after game....as for the mm, nothing to do there, it's the russian version of a fair fight and WG wont change a thing. -
I don't think people have issues with the Albermarle, I think the issue is with the Goliath? Since you don't have it, like me, how can you be so sure that it's going to play the same? Unless of course you're simply adding a postive spin on things for reasons only the two of us know?
-
My wishlist, sincerely, is not gameplay related. It relates to WG's attitude. I want them to look at their playerbase and appreciate their long term supporters more sincerely, in an ongoing way, not as a once off to celebrate a single day / week. And please, speak nothing of the daily missions - these are laughable at best. They need a long term veteran programme that offers rolling incentives for loyalty and support. They're obsessed with recruiting new players but are taking 100% for granted those of us still here for so long. The reason I'm here is their game, not them. I'm not an advocate of the halo effect so the people don't have me pining for their love or acceptance. I personally feel they reciprocate very little loyalty in return to us, and have instead opted to treat us all as one-hit-wonders with programmes designed to blatantly strip us of cash rather than nursing economic support from us. Its their way of business, but for me its having the opposite effect, changing the way I feel and making me spend far less money.
-
Agree fully. They 'allow' us to choose the method with which they get to screw us over under the auspices of a charity drive when we got to vote for how the hayate should be released. It is rather amusing but that's what economists may likely call raw, unrefined capitalism from a company lacking the experience to practice it in a more tactful, socially acceptable way. Think of it in terms of democracy in the west vs democracy in Russia - I'll let you decide which is the less refined of the two. You must hand it to wargaming though, at least they're brutal enough to treat us this way even though they know we know they do. That's brazen for you, lol.

Angled Albemarle receives frontal annihilation by Sinop (video included)
Shaka_D replied to Grimmblut's topic in General Discussion
Sadly my albermarle was just similarly kill by a JB not 3 minutes ago - a nice shell square to the rear end of my ship, more than 20k damage from around 13k away. Frontal angling cause me similar grief a day back when another bb hit me for more than 20k damage from the front from further away. Going to start saving the replays from now to try make more sense of this. -
Results: Help a Friend – Win a Ship!
Shaka_D replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Most of my friends have left the game for reasons that are still part of the gameplay mechanic. Recruiting them back is not an option and recruiting new folks is not really possible at my age. What demographic does WG mostly cater for? -
I had port issues yesterday too, except here every time I selected demount a signal it mounted it, and vice versa. Had to restart the client.
-
And therein lies the question of whether we prep our ships for those special occasions in whic they may just work....I'd rather do the exact opposite.
-
The only thing I feel like discussing with you at the mention of more soviet ships is to perhaps ask you which cliff you want to go over? The soviets can only have one cv (like in real life) and it has to be burning at the start of the game (like in real life), and full of rust and flakey paint (like in real life), oh, and no engine (like in real life).

WG - Why are these "in One Battle" Directives PvP only?????
Shaka_D replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
To be honest, I've just achieved both the 150 000 damage one and 20 fires one in a single battle together.....and would you believe it I was in my tier 7 Surrey. Long game, lost it, but did a lot in that time. But then again, I look at the rewards for achieving these miracle directives.....lol. May as well be nothing, in fact I'd prefer it being nothing than a single signal. -
A Bachelor’s Guide to Ship Seduction
Shaka_D replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
You forgot to end the article (which was quite entertaining btw) with: And they all lived happily ever after and had lots and lots of little PT boats...or not, because in fact they secretly plotted to sink all PT's and their older DD teenage cousins, because they were in cognito and when no-one was looking took off their masks to reveal their true CV selves, much to the dismay of all around them.....and it was at that moment all ships (and their lesser refined counterparts called boats) knew love was just a vicious wicked facade and valentines day just a ruse by greedy capitalist coporations to trick normal, decent, innocent sailors into spending money. I think that would round it off quite nicely -
Royal Treasury Random Bungles AND HMS London
Shaka_D replied to Rhineheart_Thor's topic in General Discussion
Must admit, I looked at the bundles and wondered if I'm finally becoming bored with the game and the team behind it. It's all starting to feel too repetitive. Perhaps WG have lost their creativity or traded it in for a more neoliberalist agenda. Samey directives and tokens, daily missions with fancy titles but impotent rewards, non-replayable operations (i.e. rewards non-repeating), gambling bundles with unpublicised odds, and tier X as an end game which offers gameplay quality worse than tier 1. I think it's only ranked battles that offers real incentive and a sense of accomplishment. At one point WG were quite enthusiastic toward their game and their playerbase, but now I notice their attitudes have shifted toward being more condescending, non-appreciative and critical towards their fans. I started watching the steam last night but left after around 10 minutes when I sensed a less than genuine sentiment from the streamers. I'm not there to please them, and if that's the atmoshphere I feel is present then I'll just not bother. Doesn't really bug me in the least. All in all I'm getting a little tired engaging in constant discursive struggles with a developer who has automatically assumed superior positioning in this relationship of ours. -
[Poll] What did you get from the "Super Container" that you got for "Service Record" upgrade in WoWs v0.9.1 ?

100 standard signals -
I agree, although the karma point system allows venting of some sort, though noone really cares about it? If WG think to punish people for being human and responding naturally through stressful situations, then they're being grossly unrealistic. There is no need for players to be hateful though, to wish others dead, or to get cancer or aids, etc....some stuff is hugely toxic. I suspect most arguments and reactions are not, but simply to be expected in an environment that is so wincentric and which depends largely on group rather than individual effort. In this the frustration is perfectly natural and to be expected. The problem truly begins with the system itself. Trying to divert all behaviour-related responsiblity solely onto the players is simply showing an unwillingness to address the issue properly. Creating a discourse the player is responsible for his behaviour when you're placing him in an environment known to be competitive, wincentric, unforgiving, and which beyond his own efforts he has no control over, is going to cause massive frustration. This has been proven in circles far wider that this game. Though, maybe I'm overthinking it a little too much, haha.

That's very good to know then and I absolutely fully support your notion about whining of bans on the forums if bans were deserved - people should be able to accept punishment in an adult fashion. I have on many occasions allowed my competitive self to be triggered or lacked the self-control by responding in an unnacceptable manner. I have also on many occasions messaged people and apologised if my words were harsh and become friends with quite a few since. Bans are a good system for tempering tempers and frustration too, and clearly required for some people who are naturally toxic. But your system is not foolproof and is open to abuse and therein lies the issue - we cannot act as some do that every ban is deserved, that all bans are fair and justified. And when people feel they are unjustly punished, is it worth waiting for support (the ban may be over by then) or better to simply let the ban serve its term? Do they simply hold this frustration to themselves or report it somewhere on a public platform like the forums which provides an opportunity for debate, for those who feel similarly to voice their concerns and which provides a more holistic view of the functioning of the system.
