    Convoys?

No need to avoid until you've at least tried it? Might be different, but nevertheless potentially fun?
  2. Forums are a great place to debate around differing views and perceptions. Occasionally there are conflicts, but such is the nature of debate and opinion. And we all have things to learn, especially in how to interact with one another. Sometimes we're overly judgemental, sometimes we're not opinionated enough. I've learned a great deal by having inadvertantly said the wrong things at times - I try to learn from these experiences, but we're human too. Of course, it's also a platform where people will voice discontent with the game because where else can they do this officially? Some people participate, some people don't, but the joy is people can come and go anytime they wish. Human nature also dictates that bad news is more popular than good, that we are slow to report the good things (hence fewer positive posts) and quick to complain (hence more negative posts). It's very wrong to label it one way or the other though. It's a thing that can change quickly and all depends on whatever the events are of the proverbial day / week / month which determines how positive or negative it is. As said, if people don't like it leave, the last thing anyone should be doing is complaining about anyone who complains...you see the hypocrisy in this? People can always choose to be a force for positive then too? Maybe we need more of those on the forums, some folk with greater resilience and who can look to put a positive spin on things, i.e. balance the arguments? Anyhow, not all negativity, whining, demotivation, disappointment is bad - some of it can be really productive - just look at the numerous sh1tstoms that have led to change or reversals - yet the 'mr.positives' have also benefitted from it all?? Some people don't like to get their hands dirty, but it's from the dirt that we grow most of the food we eat. Just my most humble opinion.

    Super containers? lol not really!

He mentioned some daily resource containers, which would potentially explain the questionable coal and xp values?

    Supercontainer Contents Project 2021

44 SC's for me, will enter the full data when I get home later, but most notable for me were: 8 x 15k coal 4 x 1k dubloons 1 x 1.5k dubloons 3 x 7 day premium 2 x 14 day premium 1 x 30 day premium 3 x 50k free xp 7 x 50 camo's or various kinds The rest were a mish mash of standard and special signals... After these, nothing else matters to me. This was MY birthday, not WG's.....thanks WG, much appreciated!!!!!!! Really, really pleased.
  5. Just curious. Feels like the calm before the storm while we wait for things to go live so was wondering how people plan to go about the ploughing of their container fields. All SC's one after the other or a slower more patient approach by mixing it up a little between the tiers to make the thrill last a bit longer? For me, I reckon I'll be doing a tier 10, then maybe a 9 and 8 and then back up again. Lower tiers come later. Last year it was all about the SC's first, but think I'll be drawing it out more. I'm keen to see how others will be going about it, or even if it really doesn't bother them. Coop or randoms too?

This is what 7/10 games look like these days

Throwing stats around is utterly meaningless unless they can be verified and comply in terms of PROMPT. Arguments are very easily reinforced by showing the odd snip of a spreadsheet or graphic which supports the argument of the presenter, whereas the truth could be far different and in many cases is. It creates and supports bias assumptions. The major news networks and everyday journalism does this all the time. We also can't treat everyone who comes to the forum with an ingame observation as being ridiculous or silly. Most research into phenomena begins with observations, leading to further controlled research and experimentation. Initial observations based on intuition and experience have on more than many occasions been proven to be accurate observations of real phenomena. But, what the OP refers to is also an assumption based on too few samples. Basic psych also says we tend to remember the times bad things happen as opposed to the times inbetween when nothing happens? Some speculation here on my part.

    WeeGee desperate for money?

F2p games like this understandeably make their money by hiding some things behind direct or indirect paywalls. Some paywalls are ok, some are definitely not.

Once upon a time in the east

WG has been synonymous with natural disasters of late...maybe change that to 'not-so-natural [insert type here] disasters'.

Once upon a time in the east

You may have lost the ability to stand on parade, but.....you at least haven't lost your sense of humour. In fact, it's the only thing we rely on to stay sane with WG running things the way they are

Premium Time - Time For A Change

Ripping off customers is the inevitable indirect result of neoliberalist capitalism where there is little to no regulatory intervention by government, with a belief that free markets will regulate themselves through supply / demand mechanics. Pareto optimality is where there is mutual benefit to both parties - do we have that here? Sometimes maybe.

Really WG? What the actual f*ck

A poory written short story in pictures:

I hate the Aircraft Bureau Rivalry

..meanwhile in deepest darkest Africa there lies a little kid who's life is about to expire because he hasn't eaten properly in weeks. Electricity he says, 'what's that?', while he takes an unsteady sip of his mirky water. He's been unable to stand for days and you can see every joint in his emaciated body. How lucky we are to have first world problems. We wouldn't want real world problems, now would we? Have to wonder sometimes if we complain far too much...in fact, we definitely do complain too much. Now refund me all my torps WG...your bugged torp mechanic has cost me dearly in repair costs. \\World biggest hypocrite signing out!

    Chat bans

Ok then, I've literally just a few minutes ago been reported twice in a game by a WGP2W chap and another (while not being able to chat) simply because I used 20k torps on my shima, a decision which apparently automatically means I'm a noob according to both players and thereafter they trolled me all game. Not a word said, not a gesture made - because I can't. They don't like my decision so reported me. So you really think no-one reports people for saying relatively benign things? You are mistaken Sir! Screenshot if you like to prove I'm not simply pulling a made up story out my hat? If you honestly think people reported and chatbanned are always deserving in some way then I'm sorry to say that if you do enough exploring of the idea, you'll see that I'm right. It's a system badly abused. Lots of players are no doubt deserving of bans, as have I been in the past, but simply swiping any objection to the side as being 'just another hack coming in professing his innocence while being guilty' is very prejudice and completely unjustifiable. Not sure how you similarly come to the conclusion that all who don't know why they got their ban are lying....this mystifies me. I disagree with you when you think the concept of toxicity is well understood too. It's not even clearly defined by WG themselves..in fact from my observations it's a label assigned to anyone who says anything remotely negative to someone else, and usually handed out by the person on the receiving end of the criticism. Wishing people sick or dead is unacceptable, but tellling someone he should have helped is not toxic...yet I was called toxic for saying so to someone...just like that when telling him he should have helped the team when they asked.....and his words were 'omg, you are so toxic'. With all due respect to you, pretending something doesn't exist simply because you haven't yourself witnessed it doesn't actually undo it's existence. And dismissing the idea it exists when others claim it does (and in cases could show good evidence of such) is also misguided logic. This is not a case of black or white, guilty or not guilty. The system is easily and frequently abused....You know how I know, because I abuse it too...report people for misbehaving in chat when they team damage, border hump, refuse to help, because no other report tends to work, but we all know 'misbehaviour in chat' works, right?

    Chat bans

I'm not afraid to admit my wrongdoings, but I do resent those who hide behind a facade of perfection or try to pass off the impression they never doing any wrong on the forums, or who prejudice others in some way but don't like the reverse. We have to own up to our mistakes. There is nothing wrong in acknowledging our errors of judgement, it doesn't weaken our character. We only think it does. I've made great friends with many a person I've shared harsh words with, either them to me or me to them...though there should be a manadatory rule that you cannot chat after you die, cannot chat in port for 5 or so minutes after a battle...a cool off period. You cannot ask people not to be human, and emotional expression during competitive events is normal, though shouldn't be racist, hateful or toxic (but toxicity needs to be properly understood). Competitive spirit is ubiquitous in any sport, esport, game, etc. It exists wherever there is a winner and loser, wherever there is reward for winning and less for losing. The fact remains is not all people coming to the forums to discuss chatbans are always guilty...you cannot automatically assume this, because then youre just being prejudiced?

    Chat bans

Wow! Investigated my crimes further? Now that makes zero sense. How would you define being a 'wanchor' in chat then? Saying something someone doesn't like? For example, 'hey mate, we all asked you to come help us, think about your team'....and after the game you notice a few reports. Is this being a chatty 'wanchor'? Hardly. Once sentence. Purely subjective, and again perhaps a narrow-minded view that what's being said is actually harmful or irritating in reality. You're also assuming it's only going to be based on repeated chat, ranting, profanity, etc? But then, I'll just report anyone that irritates me in chat, or a guy that blows his horn because that might irritate me personally? The real truth of the matter is that despite the average older age of the playerbase, from observing chat in game it seems most people I encounter don't know what toxicity really is and generally lash out by using the report mechanism. It's a very very easily abused system and as such must be recognised as flawed. Therefore not everyone punished by it should be seen as deserving. Most likely yes for most cases, but even your assumption I was being a 'wanchor / ranting / causing distractinon / creating a scenario where players will be unlikely to succeed' is incredibly short-sighted don't you think?

    Chat bans

Let's hypothesise here based on a certain naughty boys' experiences: How does someone who is chatbanned receive another chatban while not being able to chat? So, lets say you're serving a week long ban for a sudden plethora of reports against you for vocalising your discontent at one or two teams in ranked on a particular day, and into your 6th day you notice the date of your ban changed to another week. Bear in mind, this is not a error in reading the date the first time round. The system is automated is it not and responds to reports in game - after a certain number of reports a ban might be triggered? Am I right assuming this? If so, I presume you received another ban somehow during your first week ban during which you have been unable to chat at all? This is based on a true story btw. It is I and this is my confession. I think it's fairly obvious the system can be badly abused, therefore not every ban is potentially deserving and shouldn't be judged as such. Maybe this doesn't happen very often, but assuming every person talking about being chat banned as being deserving of it is flawed thinking and narrow-minded perhaps?
  19. Agree and makes sense, but a celebration ini this instance can be a birthday month or week, especially when it comes to gaming events - does not need to particularly fall on the day in this case. Given that the celebration lasts quite a while means they technically could have started it before or after. Personally, I think this has more to do with particular timings to allow them to capilise on the early release of soviet cv's (no problem with it) beforehand. That said, I had initially thought it would all kick off now with this update and so was a little disappointed to wait another week. However, that's only because I'm looking forward to it, so it's a natural reaction. No problem at all. It'll all be here soon enough.

    Twitch Drops in 0.10.8

Now the real question is.........to what extent have the rewards hiding behind SC's been 'tweaked' to ensure the drop rates of some good stuff remains really really low, haha. Tin foil hat time! Nah, actually looking forward to this event quite a lot.
  21. Sorry folks, not sure where to find a comprehensive list of what's allowed and not allowed in terms of mods, so perhaps someone here can guide a tired-eyed fool in the right direction. I use the vanilla client myself but want to educate myself about what's permitted and not before I go all witch hunty in the game. I've been seeing a lot of instant fire suppression lately, I.e. setting a ship on fire and the fire is suppressed instantly, before it can even do damage - just had a game in ranked where this happened so thought it's time I ask (again?). Are these types of things allowed, do they even exist, or is this a case of witnessing the Billy the Kid of keyboard warriors? Cheers in advance!

Mods - what's allowed and disallowed?

Cheers folks. I might give them a try to see whether it would be something that enhances my experience. I didn't want to knee-jerk at someone who was simply reacting quickly.

Soviet Carriers Early Access bundles prices "leaked"

Very much agree. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Bragging rights are also pretty much a non-entity these days in sailing a ship before anyone else. Seriously, who cares seeing someone else in some 'other' ship? It reminds me of that guy driving past you with his arm out the window, shirt off and music thumping so loud you can hear it in the next county...he thinks he's untouchably cool, whereas every other person in earshot of his cacophonic ego thinks he's the biggest tool around. Do you think this means the guy doing the bragging is only seen as a showoff? Who cares right, haha.
