    Birthday Gifts

On a congratulatory note, this is a great move by WG. A true +1 moment is upon us folks, lets give it all the credit it deserves.

    Birthday Gifts

    My birthday is tomorrow .
  3. Makes sense. I'd like there to be the occasional dud torp too.
  4. They really need to provide ASW across the board to all ships then.
  5. All I know is I'm still trying to find my own happy place with all this too. No, it's not always needed to dodge because somehow I've managed to dodge torps accidentally with it. I bow to the superior wisdom and experience of others in this....I'll join your queue.

    Respect

Did you enjoy seeing the village people in action?

    Respect

You realise this makes no sense? I bought a car and when I dared to drive it out the garage onto the road it was only to find there was a bus, a few other cars, a cyclist and a tractor using the roads too. Highways agency needs to sort this crap out...or maybe, I can just accept that sometimes I'll have to share the road with other road users, even the annoying ones? This has nothing to do with respect, just tolerance and acceptance of the inevitable inconveniences we sometimes have to face.
  8. Use dam con to remove the lockon and then try dodge, but it's usually a once off opportunity. Last night a sub did this to me, I used dam con and thereafter he nailed me over and over while it was recharging. My bb just couldn't avoid them, and while he was spotted I had no ASW to counter him in any way. I like having them in the game, but this is one of the real failings of subs if you ask me.

    Accused by toxic teammates

I would suggest on you first knocking the apparent chip off your shoulder and looking at it all objectively. Your response comes across awfully similar to how I would expect someone reacting to what they perceive as negative criticism of themselves. No critique is ever fully qualified now is it, no matter it's source. While some people are definitely toxic in their behaviour, many are not. Therefore, again it comes down to the definition of toxicity and it's mistaken blanket application to all things perceived as negative....and mistaken because not all feedback is negative...and negativity in itself is also a matter of debate based on who perceives it as such. Toxicity therefore does not exist simply because you says it does. I also find it interesting though how you label those offering unsolicited criticisms as 'self-appointed experts' - little inflammatory in itself don't you think? Toxic perhaps? So it is always undeserved, no matter what you may or may not have done? Interesting indeed! Again, most of life is about unsolicited feedback, and those trying to run from it without learning to assess (in an honest manner) it's validity are only harming themselves, perhaps scared of ever being told they're wrong or simply don't like thinking as such? Unsolicited criticism is often a consequence of bad behaviour.....You really think it's ok to walk through life doing as you please without ever receiving some sort of criticism when you do something wrong, even accidentally? This is a game in which you are part of a team.....if you are perceived to have let the team down in some way, whether justified or not, you should always be honest with yourself and think on it. It's not a bad thing to make mistakes, only bad if you keep repeating them because you cannot admit your failings. And if you think it's false, brush it off and move on. If criticism is profane, insulting, derogatory, racist, or hateful, report it and be done with it. Don't waltz into the forum to cry about it. I've argued against a lot of criticism aimed at me, only to find out later they were right and I've become a better player for it. It's a team game, not some solo soap opera.

Wonder if it's not time for WG to revisit this aspect given they've admitted the higher average age of the playerbase? It could really add greater depth of gameplay would it not, more immersion.

    Accused by toxic teammates

Sorry, simply stated, unrequested criticism is certainly NOT always toxic. You're assuming far too much by thinking everyone has the capacity to learn themselves from their mistakes...it's quite naive? You really think everyone is that self-aware, even at more mature ages? Not from my experience. Yes, people should help themselves learn, but it's hardly ever people themselves who raise the awareness that they need to improve in some way....It's usually a response to outside stimulus..i.e. in simplest terms, they do something that p1sses someone off, that person vents and that might lead a person to analyse their actions to determine if they were wrong. It takes a reasonable person to fulfill the latter part, and not many can because they prefer to retaliate without reflection. The issue begins for me when people misrepresent what toxic really means. Noone likes criticism levelled at themselves from external sources, so it's natural to argue toxicity. Of course, there are right and wrong ways of giving 'feedback' or venting disappointment in someones actions, but to simply call it all toxic is highly mistaken. Perhaps you don't like anyone criticising you for anything? I'm fairly certain that if you go back though your life you'll find numerous examples where unrequested criticism was given (as a child, and a young adult) and you learned from it? It is no different in this game, though some people (me in the past) need to learn to vent more 'reasonably'. This type of feedback is ubiquitous in any team orientated sport / game / situation when ones actions impact upon other people. In fact, in all of life! Why on earth would there be a need for a football coach / manager or even jails for that matter, if we could all simply learn by ourselves without any form of unrequested criticism. You really think everyone operates on the same moral or ethical standard?

Do you think Wargaming are cheap skates??

I don't think they're cheap skates, my ton of stuff from SC's says otherwise. However, I do definitely believe they over-value signals and camos too much. If hardly feels worthy to complete mission sets for single camo's or signals, especially since these things are expendable and easily wasted on some bad rng or matchmaking. It's situational I think. They can be generous, but can't be seen to be generous all the time because they have a finite number of resources to work with.

    Accused by toxic teammates

The word 'toxic' has become a catchall against anybody offering any form of criticism, whether constructive or destructive. When people hear something they don't like about themselves they simply label it as toxic because the alternative is that the criticism of them is correct - and this is a view they might not want to accept...it's called cognitive dissonance. The OP's view is purely anecdotal obviously? I really think a lot of older folk have a lot of growing up to do....take the criticism, if you think its false, ignore it. But at least think about it. If we think we never make mistakes how are we ever going to learn, and how do we know we've made a mistake...most often by hearing about it from others. Sometimes they're wrong, sometimes they're right. It's a game, but even this game has objectives. We should be going into the game respecting the fact our actions may have consequences for other players, both in game and out. If we act like clowns in a game, we could be ruining other peoples notion of fun.

[Poll] How do you like new "Convoy" game mode?

Convoy has potential, but boy oh boy, how is it so many people cannot grasp the basic idea...protect or destroy the convoy. In playing a number of convoy battles last night, it really amazed me how many people completely ignored the convoy itself and played on distant parts of the map. As a result, games were won or lost with great ease and quite quickly. Has this game mode not got a higher than average age playerbase? Good grief, this doesn't bode well for any of us.

When do you "learn your trade" in WoWs

This, very much so. Experience means little unless you've paid attention along the way, but a person never stops learning. Developing the skill to adjust your gameplay dynamically is a key factor I'd say, which draws upon your experience and knowledge of ships / maps / way previous battles have played out. Sherbert, I still go into many games and yolo like a clown within minutes trying a tactic that doesn't work out well.....never be afraid to try things.

    Have you noticed about Karma...

This is only marginally true, you left out the very important and what I would estimate is the far larger fact that if it wasn't possible to simply report anyone for no reason, people wouldn't lose that much karma. Assuming losing karma is only because a person is salty in chat is just not true. While serving a chat ban and unable to talk at all I was repeatedly reported by miscellaneous people for killing them, playing the game, mostly not knowing what I did wrong..only that someone didn't like something I did. Just because a person is punished in some way does not automatically imply they did something wrong. It's a fallacy to think like this. It was this mentality that resulted in 1000's of people being burned as witches or being persecuted for no reason..we need to outgrow this psychologically weak failing as a society. But you are very right that karma doesn't matter at all. And that...is that!
  21. Cheers, though were it to be spread across 4 films we'd likely be waiting 10 years to watch all four. I'm getting old, can't wait that long anymore, lol. Thanks for the link!

    Random gameplay lost its way

Have randoms lost their way? My view is not in the ships or general mechanics, but certainly in the quality of people frequenting randoms. Rhetorically, can I just ask a question? If I politely ask a guy why he humped the border most of the game, refused to cap, turned and ran from a fight (lets face it, the game is about war), suicided within moments of the game beginning (high tier gameplay), is it reasonable for him to respond with something like 'why so serious, it's just a game', or 'It's a game, I'm having fun'? Am I not trying to have fun too? What if my view of fun is trying to win a game - the objective of every battle and the objective of many missions? Who's appreciation of what is termed fun is more important, his or mine? Or should I say, which is the more reasonable assumption? Is this not a team game and if we play a team game should we not be mindful of the fact there are other people relying on us to at least try play the game properly - for the most part? It's not real life, but amongst other things I can't help but think that peoples real life selfishness and arrogance shine through in their gameplay. Am I wrong?

Thanks, much obliged. Have we entered into a new era where mistakes are recognised, owned up to and responsibility is taken? Well done WG, its potentially another step in the right direction toward re-establishing trust and comraderie.
