So, as much as I've criticised others for doing this I find myself begging for advice. I have a number of tier 9's unlocked but am at a loss what to go for. I could buy the: Iowa Ibuki Udaloi Fletcher Kagero Baltimore But oh, which one to choose? I can only afford one at present but need the valuable input of all you lovely, exceptionally intelligent, forum-dwelling heroes and heroines. I need you, don't let me make the wrong choice here - even on purpose. Which is your favourite...? I like playing all classes.

Just some feedback and to say thanks for all the input given. I ended up going for the Fletcher and now that she's almost fully upgraded I can say I really enjoy playing 'with' her. Her upgraded torps make the difference and the guns are good enough to keep other dd's at bay. Alround the fletch is a real contender at her tier and higher so it's a nice feeling when you feel you made the right choice, but credit to the advice given by all, so thanks.

I love mine, got it from PC gamer a while back but reading your post it might be time to take it out again. This is the problem when you have quite a few ships sitting in dock, you forget about some of the really fun ones and the Tibi is a nice little beast.

Most of us forumites already know a lot about the game, why not try preach to the masses who don't? Too difficult for you because it's easier to be patronising here? Here's a word for you to look up: TACT. You could do with some. And, there's a big difference between breathing and buying premium consumables, but I presume winning for you is just as important to breathing so I can see why you say this. Your'e being pathetic now, in fact you've been pathetic from the get go with this post. Like it or leave it. It;s called freedom of choice and you should leave it at that. Criticising others for not using them is childish, stupid, very wrong, presumptious and unrealistic. Like I said before, play in team battles and wait for clan wars, but gtfo of randoms with your silly expectations and assumptions.

Attention seeking spin-off sarcastic post by the OP because all of us who don't use premium consumables are bad bad people in the eyes of the 'elite' few. Use them as much as you like, and just remember I really don't give a toss what anyone thinks. I reserve the right to use them in team battles and clan wars eventually, and generally whenever I feel like. I do however sense severe butthurt because you want all your team mates to be using them in whatever team you play in, be it randoms, etc. so you can win win win...because winning is very important for our stats and good stats are what makes our incredibly unimportant lives seem so much more meaningful. Not so? Tut Tut OP. Low level stuff from you , you were always better than this, maybe you should take a break?

Pretty arrogant coming from you. It's not always about the credits, it's about people NOT being judged if they don't want to use them. Surely you get this concept? If players want ultra competitive gameplay stay in tam battles or wait for clan wars, or go back to WoT where the atmosphere is as toxic as they come because of all the stupid elitism and condescension that has helped ruin the game. Now we have a community contributor 'telling' us wht we should do? Perhaps he's so far up on his pedestal he's forgotten we're all the same size. The soft rule the OP is advocating is a rule that would fit perfectly well in a clan, in competitive gameplay, as we had in WoT, but expecting it as the norm in randoms is ludicrous. Maybe it's advisable in super high tiers, but I'd certainly never judge a guy because he doesn't nor would I tell him too. If the OP's tone hd come across as more of a discussion on the benefits perhaps my personal response would have been more amicable.

With all due respect to you, who on earth says 'using premium consumables' is the rule? Who made this rule? You? A few others who are perhaps rather whiny about losing more games than they feel they should and need to justify why? We all know of the benefits, but it's a ridiculous notion to expect players to use premium cons in randoms and then publish a video about it urging people to watch it. That's a cheap stunt, even from you. For competitive games I certainly agree, but as a general rule just to satisfy those few who see every game as their own personal battlefield and who have the need to nurture their stats? Well they can go jump, and adopting a high and mighty attitude of 'I can't force you to play better in the game' - are you freakin joking? And to further state that people who are 'reasonable' will listen? So we who prefer not agree with you are unreasonable? Rofl. Seems to me you and a few others are setting the standard we should all play by and if we don't we're not thinking straight. I'd go as far as to say that perhaps the people being unreasonable here are you and a few others. I am surprised at some of the responses in this post from some who I'd thought of very differently a while back and can now see it's all smoke and mirrors...someone in particular who used to be Mr. Positive but has now become Mr. Chip-on-his-shoulder because people don't play by his standards. From hero to zero in a heartbeat!

Silly attempt to get people to watch your channel, and silly too that you want people to use premium consumables. I don't, and won't at tier 8 and 9, or even 10 when I get there, unless I'm playing clan war or team battles and we're competing. Other than this I'll use standard consumables. It's a ridiculous notion that you would expect people to use premium consumables in randoms, even for credits. Random is our sandbox and it's there we grind credits, grind xp and generally develop any solo skills we have. I still do alright without using them. If you want more competitive play then stay in team battles and get people to subscribe to your channel by being nice, not by telling us what we should do. - 1 if I had it. If there's one thing I truly hate, it's people telling me what I should and shouldn't do to please others. Being patronising is only going to elicit a negative response from adults.

@TheCinC: Thanks for the detailed write up, was good to read. I probably and truthfully like playing dd's the best of all, although as mentioned I like all classes foe their variety. I think I'm going to check out the test server as some of you have said but am leaning strongly toward the DD's first. The rest will come as credit farming allows @Collin_mats: cheers, as mentioned the dd's are the way for me. It seems clear from the general feedback received so now will choose which I like best.

Yeh, was tempted by the Des Moine a while back but today after having heard a few things on the Baltimore I'm not so sure, but I suppose there are those necessary painful grinds to get through on the way to something more worthwhile. Just a pity they aren't all just the low tier grinds. I felt the New Orleans was just a slightly better Pensacola so didn't feel anything special playing her and hence the grind seemed long. Just couldn't really muster up the enthusiasm to do more than the daily double. I don't think I could take going through that again with the Baltimore if it's more of the same.

Lol Bushy, i know I know, it's why I have so many tier 8's fully elited waiting for their tier 9 counterpart to be bought. I had initially said tier 7 max, but tasted and really enjoy tier 8 battles and since I see so many tier 10 battles anyways thought I may as well take the plunge. 'Rene, come out of the closet' and that's what I've decided to do....but not that closet.

Thanks mate, looks like I'll be punting for the Fletcher then (until I get home and look at the ibuki again, haha). I think I can rule out the Iowa, Kagero and Baltimore for now at least. Will look at the ruskie DD again tonight too. Appreciate the advice folks, +1 to all!

Haha, thanks fellas. I see the fletcher and ibuki seem to be the main contenders so far. I was kinda leaning toward them but was unsure of the fletcher. I enjoy BB's too but I think they'll come last due to slower gameplay (sorry Leo). I'm quite an aggressive player, either dying early or surviving till the end, so perhaps a DD will suit me better in tier 9, although I love my cruisers. I enjoyed the Benson a lot too. Might be worth waiting for that disount on the ijn line too and by then might be able to pick up the ibuki, never knew it was coming.

Heaven help me if I ever run into a supertester in battle...i reckon I'll find myself taking a long walk on a short plank. You know I'm just kidding right?

The very last thing we need in this game is another statistics based approach to judging each other. Some great tools are simply too much responsibility for the wrong people to handle, and as a result they misuse them. Sadly this is the case for most players who are too immature to use it wisely. I vote for Brexit....er, I mean no enhanced stats. The last thing I want is for people judging me based on my stats......too much elitism ruins games.
